- Iowa’s Amana Colonies are not Amish! Come meet the past while enjoying right now.
Iowa’s Amana Colonies lived communally until 1932. Today their innovative past and welcoming hospitality draw visitors by the thousands. John McGivern is reminded of a simpler time at the Meat Shop, the Woolen Mill and Schanz Furniture, and very grateful for present amenities at Whirlpool Corp, the Ox Yoke Inn and Millwright Hotel.

John and his team really captured the magic of Amana in this episode. I lived in Cedar Rapids for two years with my wife, from 2020-2022. Amana was our refuge during the pandemic. It’s also home to Iowa’s oldest micro brewery, Millstream. The amber is fantastic!
I really enjoyed this.
I’m literally eating the beef from the meat shop while watching this video
Great job of capturing the specialness of Amana. I've been going to the Colonies for 30 years (I live in Illinois), and I love them. This video shows what a special place they are.
im going to the ox yoke in for the buffet tomorrow
@@devonvanwaus1448 Lucky you! What a great restaurant and delicious food!
I have family in Mount Vernon, Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. We often take a visit to the colonies.
My family and I were discussing how we didn’t know anything about Iowa. Came across this video. This is fabulous. So interesting. Thank you.
Emmy was on Discover Wisconsin!👍👍👍
So interesting. Great job.
Great job
We made a road trip there several years ago. BIG disappointment. Half the places and museums were closed.
Stop in for brats and 🍺🍺🍺
