The wings are not as big of problem, at least for mine. No, my biggest gripe for the MG Zeta Gundam 2.0 is the hip joint and connecting mechanism used for the transformation. Those parts are so fragile and finicky, especially when transforming the suit.

i think they chose this one because zeta gundam is what made gundam succes in the first place and it was a major succes in term of the anime when it relese.
Just saying, the Ver. Ka version of the RX-78-2 would be the perfect lead Gundam choice for the upcoming live action movie. Either that, or the Mamoru Oshii adaptation of the novels.
I built the MG 2.0 Zeta Gundam 10 years ago. It's a solid kit but it's 17 years old now. A new model with updated technology is very welcome, in my opinion. And I really really love the Zeta Gundam's design.
Question - would you say it's good enough for someone like me who's about to build the mk2 2.0? The fact that the two have stands that connect together make me feel like I should get the 2.0 AND the ver ka later as well.
@@mattr.1804 100%. The Zeta has a timeless design, and the MG 2.0 has great articulation especially considering that it's transforming model. I hope you have as much fun as I had building it!
Going Into the Wave Rider mode design looks so amazing. The one seamless and no need for parts transformation is so impressive. I really want this one.
This and the RX-78-2 are iconic, and got me into gunpla. Seeing this as a fully functioning transforming suit with anime accuracy is mind boggling. I can’t wait to build mine.
Sorry Bandai I’m quite disappointed by the design. I don’t mind going anime-accurate but this is ver Ka. Some fans like me are expecting a more modern take of the Zeta Gundam. The 2.0 already went for a more anime-accurate look compared to the 1.0 and to be honest the head and chest proportions of the original design are archaic by modern standards. What bugs me the most is the wing design. Katoki himself designed the MG 1.0, in which he solved the arm folding problem by making the wing extend further in the wave rider mode, creating more space for the arms to fit in. This ver Ka kit completely scraped the great concept but didn’t come with a good solution. The wave rider mode now looks thick as hell and there’s a huge gap between the wings and shield in the wave rider mode. For the positive side this kit seems to have much better articulation and stability than existing kits. However, the Zeta 2.0 actually has pretty good leg articulation and overall stability, too. The transformation is very flimsy but I doubt the new ver Ka is able to solve that problem since the Ka signature model couldn’t solve it either. The new ver Ka costs 6500 yen pre tax, while the 2.0 costs only 5000 yen pre tax with a huge action base and meta launcher included. I bought the Zeta 2.0 shortly after its release so the plastic aged a lot. However, if I were to buy a new MG Zeta kit, I’d rather buy a second Zeta 2.0 than the ver Ka.
