2003-2006, such a fire era for sports gaming and gaming in general. The reason games like SSX, Tony Hawk and even NBA Street worked is because you didn't didn't need to be a fan of snowboarding or skateboarding to love these games
Bro it's like EA deliberately said, "how can we make ourselves the most hated"? Def Jam Fight For NY and NBA Street Vol. 2 was the peak of video game existence.
I saved my lunch money for weeks to buy Def Jam Vendetta. My Mom saw me playing and thought I actually stole it since she bought all my games. She actually took me back to the store and asked the workers at EB Games if I bought it. When they told her I did and looked at her like she was insane she never questioned me again.

These kids have no clue what it was like to go to gamestop with your boys to collectively buy one of these games and then have to fight to see who gets to take it home for the 1st playing. I just miss when studios took risks. Games back then were very hit and miss, but when they were a hit, man they were phenomenal. There's a reason these games and games like The Simpsons Hit & Run are remembered fondly
Thats what sucks about games nowadays and why there is no experimental games. Games cost so much to make now and Dev’s only want to use existing franchise’s cause new concepts aren’t imaginative or sticking. Def Jam Fight for NY, SSX3, Sled storm, freekstyle and nba street vol.2 are still very much amazing in retro gaming terms. But back then when it came out I played these games for months on end every damn day. No wonder I had bad grades as a kid, because my big bro had a good taste in gaming but he had to work basically every day up to 16 hours a day so I had his PS2 always to myself . Good times indeed!

Never really got to experience NBA Street during that time. I was an NBA ballers guy myself back then. NBA Ballers Phenom🔥🔥🔥 But I remember playing Fifa street, NFL street 2 and Def Jam Fight for NY on PSP and SSX tricky on PS2. Those days were soo timeless. 😭
Man the things I’d do for an ssx tricky remaster or even a modern ssx game that actually feels like the classic ones. Spent countless hours playing those games growing up, I don’t think anything will ever truly match the style, music and technical yet arcade feeling gameplay from this era of EAbig games.
I’m currently replaying the whole Def Jam Fight for NY story over now on Emulator PC the gameplay still feels so satisfying and I forgot how good the voice acting actually was. That whole era was just special man time by flying.

NFL Street 1/2, SSX Tricky/3, and Def Jam Vendetta/Fight for NY were my go-to games and still are. I miss EA Sports BIG so much. They need to remaster these games.
I would like to see these games make a return, but I just can't help but think that EA might ruin them. Like some remasters, or remakes, or reboots, or new sequels would be nice with character customization and online multiplayer. Another game I would like to see make a comeback is Fight Night, like I really love that game growing up. And I know that it's know part of EA's big division but I'd bring it up since we're basically taking about EA games that were good back in the day, in the golden era of gaming.

Ahh, nostalgia. I was blown away by the first SSX and played it religiously when I first got my PS2. Then, SSX 3 was my jam. Go to the top of the mountain on freestyle mode, whack on a great album and bust out some sick tricks...Great video, man.
Def Jam is still the best wrestling game to this day. Nba Street was the natural evolution of Nba Jam. Nfl street did the same for NFL Blitz. It was a great time for gaming.
The NFL Street 2 intro is absolutely LEGENDARY where you space out thinking you're in the NFL and the Jeremy freaking Shockey yells at you to get you outta la la land
After my first experience with SSX Tricky (the demo), damn, I was on a look out for ANY game that had "EA BIG" written on the cover. I lost countless hours to SSX3 and both the Def Jam games. I think it was that era of hip hop and rap from the early to mid 2000s, the B.E.T. era, you had all sorts of game representing urban, hip hop, rap and fashion culture when it was at an all time high and the influence it had on video games at the time. Certainly was the golden age of gaming for me too.
You're so right when you said def jam brought many kind of people around and not just hip hop fans. I remember playing it hour on end with my friend around 2005, and we were huge metalheads. We didn't knew most of the game's cast but it didn't affect the fun we had. And on another note, I see a trend with big publishers like EA, they sometimes strike gold with a developper, or a game, and doesn't seem to understand the importance of not making it a yearly release. I'm pretty sure these kind of games could still work today.

thank you for playing the Pete Rock and CL Smooth song when you first showed nba street 2; every other review does not include that song in their respective videos, and you need it. it's a huge part of setting the vibe it's how i was introduced to them. so much nostalgia here
Ssx tricky would be one for the ages if redone with the same effort from back in the day. Updated sound tracks and visuals would add some flare. Also, no snowboarding game recently released that has had any impact either.
Gamers today will know the epic feeling of picking mario, Lebron , Carmelo and doing the sickest game breaker dunk on someone . Or picking the Pittsburgh Steelers /Baltimore ravens and literally suplexing a wide receiver as they try to hurdle you Or that epic …freaking EPIC intro scene with def jam fight for New York booting up on your ps2/Xbox Memories
I think its a good idea for them to look back at these games and c how fun they was and bring new versions of them because these games if made can last just of nostalgia and it would be even better if they made it even more funnier by adding different types of game modes and online play
Unfortunately i was legit homeless during that era so i only briefly played anything from Big and i believe its an SSX game. But i remember my friends raving about them and they are still in their collection. Only a few games i can honor from that era, Metroid Prime, Madden with Vick and Young on the cover maybe Ray Lewis, NHL Hits, Smackdown. Broo FIFA Street and Def Jam Vandetta/Fight For NY in my neighborhood with my friends it was like a battle of trash talk all day, so many tournament we did back then.. 2000’s era was the peak of video games what a time we were lucky to live in
I grew up playing these games and they were one of a kind you just had to be there at the time
Yeah fam....you gotta start a "What happened?" series for video games now. This was really good bro
Man they should bring those games back
Def Jam Fight for NY is one of my favorite games on the PS2. Seeing a game like this nowadays would be great!
I've never clicked on a thumbnail this fast in my entire life. I loved theses games growing up my friends and I loved ssx and fifa Street we played those games before and after we wrote our high school exams lol. We all passed too
NBA Street Vol 2 on OG Xbox might be my favorite game ever. My squad was Shaq, Ben Wallace, and Kobe
Just subscribed , love the content and details and facts about games , keep it up !
SSX Tricky, SSX 3, and NBA Streets 2. I have fond, vivid memories of hanging with my friends. EXPECIALLY NBA Streets 2. I played that game for hours, and hours.
thank you for playing the Pete Rock and CL Smooth song when you first showed nba street 2; every other review does not include that song in their respective videos, and you need it. it's a huge part of setting the vibe it's how i was introduced to them. so much nostalgia here
Love this kind of videos looking for to more of these
Ssx tricky would be one for the ages if redone with the same effort from back in the day. Updated sound tracks and visuals would add some flare. Also, no snowboarding game recently released that has had any impact either.
Hearing that nba street theme got me in my feelings lol
Gamers today will know the epic feeling of picking mario, Lebron , Carmelo and doing the sickest game breaker dunk on someone .
Or picking the Pittsburgh Steelers /Baltimore ravens and literally suplexing a wide receiver as they try to hurdle you
Or that epic …freaking EPIC intro scene with def jam fight for New York booting up on your ps2/Xbox
Memories
5:05 you was destined for a whoopin too lol
I think its a good idea for them to look back at these games and c how fun they was and bring new versions of them because these games if made can last just of nostalgia and it would be even better if they made it even more funnier by adding different types of game modes and online play
All those games were fun as hell and then they just stopped making them , all the fun and excit3ment is gone though
Fun Af
Really good video put together!
Thank you :)
I missed alot back then unfortunately so if they remastered those games id be in for a treat
Fifa street 2 was one of the best games i was playing it for hours on psp and ps2
That Def Jam Fight for New York and NBA Streets Volume 2 is in my top 10 games of all time. Graphics don't look bad til this day
An essay from the gamer? That's so cool, dude!!
I still play my PS2 today I got all the NBA Street games all the DEF jam games and all the NFL street games good times good memories never be the same😔
