      Cans don’t hurt velocity. And bolt guns are magic with one on. Just sweet, delicious magic.

    • @ASmith-r6f
      @ASmith-r6f 6 месяцев назад +4

      Sometimes cans increase velocity averages, as the gases are trapped for just a tiny bit longer, it does increase recoil and it can in semi automatic rifles cause gases to escape from the charging handle (I own a supressor in 556 and it has been experiencing this issue). I've noticed a bigger kick with the same ammo and a bigger supressor, the fps claim has been based on other YTers using chronographs and finding slight increases in FPS(paul harrell,garand thumb)

    • @FloatMan84
      @FloatMan84 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@ASmith-r6f Thanks for the info. I now realize that most of my gun knowledge comes from Hollywood and video games where suppressors decrease overall “damage” instead of (realistically) increasing muzzle velocity due to the longer barrel.

    • @mjay6245
      @mjay6245 6 месяцев назад +2

      @FloatMan84 The myth in games comes from the game assuming you're using subsonic ammunition with the suppressors, therefore lowering velocity and damage.
      At least in competent games. Most just do it because they're uneducated and as a handicap.

    416 Rigby is the parent case to 338 lapua magnum. It originally ran necked down 416 brass, but after trying to meet 3000fps for a 250gr the case couldn't handle the extra pressure. It went to a modified case with a thicccer wall near the base of the case. If I remember correctly. I read up on it a bunch when I was getting into reloading 338lm years ago. It's a very interesting cartridge over all with really good ballistics if you're into that type of thing.

    That was absolutely brilliant. The Honey Badger 'strikes' again, literally. It just doesn't care what you point it at.
    It seemed to be a very high velocity round, and it just goes into things and creates a massive amount of pressure.
    We noticed the flash inside the turkey as well as the massive temporary wound cavity.
    Loved the return of Watermelon Time, the T. rex, the war on eggplant and of course poupon everything! You never fail to entertain.

    What a surprise! I just had snails / escargot / Weinbergschnecken for lunch today! Albeit it's more a meal for winter time. The fresh or frozen ones are even more delicious than the canned ones! For example with garlic butter on grilled slices of eggplant! But the canned ones are perfectly suitable for soup.

    The suppression level is unbelievable. 🤯 And may help with reduced felt recoil. 🤓😜
    And of course “she still be kick’en”, a suppressor doesn’t reduce the velocity/energy of the round, it only slows the gasses allowing them to expand and cool in a controlled manner.
    No less accurate, no less hard hitting, no slower velocity, just quieter. Just freaking cool. 🤓🇺🇸😎🇺🇸

      It's actually incorrect the velocity has to be decreased since the sound of the bullet breaking the sound barrier is the thing that make the usual loud boom

    • @GryphonArmorer
      @GryphonArmorer 6 месяцев назад

      @@galaxydestroyer9757 Actually it’s the difference between high velocity (supersonic) or sub-sonic . . . AMMUNITION. The only thing the suppressor slows is the gasses at the back of the bullet. The velocity of the round is determined by, mainly, bullet weight and powder charge (lighter bullet + more powder = high velocity (supersonic = loud crack) & heavy bullet + much less powder = sub-sonic = no crack because it’s below the speed of sound with or without a suppressor. Suppressors DO NOT change the velocity in a meaningful way (science stuff).
      You might experience a point of impact shift. It’s one of those crazy, “Physics” doesn’t really explain it, because it’s not consistent. Consistent between caliber, individual firearms. You could have absolute zero, or you could get as bad as a mil. Makes a difference. You have to know how/when to adjust your zero. There are factors to consider . . . But velocity reduction is not one.
      The “loud boom”, would be the gasses rapidly expanding around and behind (still “pushing”) the bullet, which is what the suppressor is designed to do. Slow down the gasses escaping the barrel, QUIETENING the report of the weapon. But the crack? Just use sub-sonic ammo and your golden, unless you’re trying to reach out... then, depending on circumstances, just go with hot load match rounds. 😉🤓😎
