Oven method saved my 780TI for several years. AFAIK the guy who bought it off me a year ago still has it going! While it only works sometimes, it is absolutely solution that does not warrant dismissing.
You would be amazed what taking them apart, give a good clean all over, blow out the monitor out connectors, put them back together and try them again. It usually will bring one or two back to life. Tech Yes did a good video on just this. Love your video although im a bit late to this one. Cheers
Untested = Not working = For parts Might as well get yourself a rework station, a hot air station and some soldering supplies and learn to repair those cards, it's actually quite fun
I've yet to encounter graphics card I could not fix with the oven method. Remove cooler, make some tinfoil supports so pcb won't touch oven plate, 200C 10min. Tried on 100% dead cards only, artifacts usually are memory problem.
Too bad that 5970 was dead. I had two back when they were new, quad Crossfire, it was crazy. Nowhere near enough VRAM though since they all, technically, share 1GB.

On an individual basis, 50/50 shot. With batches of items, it's either somebody cleaning out their garage, or they purchased stuff at auction and are just flipping it. I've been pretty lucky, in that i've only gotten totally screwed a couple of times. then i just turn them into shelf decorations. lol.

The emphasis being 'maybe'. Unless all the cards sell, you could be out more in labor cost. I've got a couple boxes of gpus i've accumulated over the years, and i wouldn't even bother trying to test all of them if i was going to sell on ebay. And i do have the ability to test every one. It's just not worth it, financially.

Wasn't that card infamous for being pretty crappy? The 200 in its name implies it already, but back then there was a great leap in video game graphics and if you wanted to play any new games the lower-tier cards were a very bad idea.
I just bought one of those 780s. I thought it was faulty at first as I couldn't get any display on an x570 or b450 board even with csm enabled. I tested it on an old fm2 board and it worked perfectly. I changed the vbios on the card to one that supports UEFI boot and it's working perfectly on the newer boards now. It's quite a respectable performer for the price too!
@RandomGamingHD. I have had much success using a heat gun and an infrared gun to monitor temps. First clean the board with a toothbrush and 90+ % rubbing alcohol let dry, then heat the back of the board to 385 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit Idk what that is in Celcius lol..... And use the infrared gun to monitor temps making sure the whole board is even temp by slowly going across the whole board do this between 5 to 10 minutes you should see solder look a little liquid if you do not after 5 to 10 minutes increase them by 10 deg until u start seeing it shiny that means its hit the correct melting point which boards from 90's to nowadays can be different. If this does not work you could always use the Louis Rossman method mac repair RUclipsr lol... Use alot of flux and use a soldering iron and some extra solder, the flux will make the solder adhere to the other existing solder basically making a better connection. You can never have to much flux :) If u have 2 of the same cards and they both artifact you could use the soldering gun and just move the memory chips back and forth because usually, artifacting is due to memory.... Or you can just underclock the memory abit and see if the issue goes away if so you can use a bios editor to just manually set the mem speed to what is stable
Just don’t use the oven method with an oven you cook actual food in, you don’t want to give yourself lead poisoning. The heatgun method could work as well
@@marco56702 yup part of the reason we have to even bake or heat gun cards is due to non lead based solder, doesn't last as long through hot/cool cycles.
I've just rebuilt my rig and now have 2 980ti's to sell there great cards for 1080p. Don't want to scare you but make sure you save all the drivers and maybe get the back catolog of them nvidia tend to start fading out support for card over 6 year old and you nearly there I'm afraid.

Ahh the good ol Single slot 8800GT,great cards back in the day but for some reason they all seemed to fail eventually, it would be interesting to see if that 8800gt holds up in test after test to see if its been baked back to life before as i managed to get one working with the oven bake method but only for a short few hours then it started artifacting again.

The 5970 required a really beefy psu and if you don't have enough amps in your rails, it wont boot at all

i bought an untested xbox 360 that was only fucked because it was full of dust and because the disc tray belt was fucked. its now fixed and being sold

Got an "untested" motherboard. Took a punt and discovered 2 socket pins just needed straightening. All good!

i used an fx5200 on my Pentium 4 :D good old days! gave me a solid 99 fps in cs 1.6.
