LT if you are sure you will paint this truck I would suggest to go ahead and paint the door jambs and door edges the blue color before you get the entire truck together. Will make the paint job easier later as you would only need to paint the exterior surfaces.

I also forgot to mention to order yourself some plastic razor blades from the jungle site for peeling decal or scraping delicate surfaces such as paint or aluminum. There are multiple durometer plastic blades order a box of low, mid, and stiff plastic blades.

I've used WD40 to remove adhesive from badges. It works for road tar and bugs too. You have to wash it down afterwards with dish soap to remove the WD40 though.

im no detailing expert but i've figured out that sanding to 3000 grit gets the scratches small enough to be buffed out with the compound which is just a finer grit that's a paste and then you could use a polishing compound which i've heard is around 6000 grit to get the shine you're looking for

Hi LT, The clear is de -laminating It's possible you can blow some of it off with a pressure washer or compressed air,but it needs to be sanded. If the water turns black, blue or silver the clear is gone, stop! Then pick a color sand and jamb it and paint it! any bare spots! You can epoxy primer them or etch primer. I'm not a painter but this works for me!

If you want a quick trick to make the clear look even better on the hood where it’s faded, vice grip garage sells the wipe on clear coat. I’ve personally used it on a Corolla with faded clear coat. It looks absolutely fantastic now. If I didn’t tell you it was failed clear coat you’d never know. 10/10 recommend in this case

Best thing i found for bad stickers is heat and goo gone then more heat. Use a heat gun to warm it up and get what you can then soak it in goo gone. Once soaked put a heat gun to it and warm it all up, should turn it into a gooey hot paste that you can wipe off. Repeat until clean. Doesn't hurt your paint and honestly not a lot of scrubbing. Since it's all level and buffed you have a good base for a wrap if you don't want to paint it.

When it comes time to paint the truck, look around in your area for someone that does plastic media blasting. I recently had a truck bed in similar shape plastic media blasted, it came out beautiful. Perfect clean metal. It cost $350 to get it blasted inside and out, was worth every penny. Once blasted, have your painter immediately coat the bare metal with epoxy primer.

Rattle canning it one color is kinda the way. You do also have air tools and they do have real sprayers for them but they would be the cost of a rattle can one coat. If you do grab a sprayhandle best cash ever for any shaker can. Most clear paint stuff requires a sand down. At which point your back to putting down a new clear coat.

Just one question: in however long this channel has been going (3 years now?) how many passes at the drag strip have you run?
Personally, I'd just like you to keep that in mind going forward into this summer.
Failing that, I'd rather see you working on mechanical shop stuff on customer cars than 15 minutes on "detailing" your truck. Even some stuff about the economics/management of your shop would be interesting.

Like more ugly truck footage or shop content but I just think the cateye videos would be better 30-60 minutes long of progress in big steps still can do multiple videos on the build but just more in the videos than baby steps.
