Shyamalan should just stick to tv from now on, imo. He's doing some good stuff as a creator/producer with some writing and directing mixed in. His movies are just a mess since "Split".
Agreed!! I've felt this way about him since Wayward Pines. He should've stayed in tv. His movies have sucked for years. After "Glass" I completely gave up on him, and I didn't even want to watch that. 😕
@Felipe Uebio I actually think Split is mediocre at best. At first watch it's "okay" but if you watch it more than once it's actually not a good movie. The only "high praise" is James McAvoy's performance (and his chemistry with the psychiatrist) but the story itself is pretty blah. 😕 Honestly, the LAST great film M. Night did was indeed "Signs" and everything after that has been a "failure" for one reason or another. Lady In the Water, The Village, The Happening, After Earth (which I didn't even bother with. Wasn't doing that to myself) the list goes on. This man just can't get back the magic he ONCE had. After Glass, I washed my hands of him. I just got tired of his "pattern of disappointments". My boyfriend tried to get me to watch "Old" when it came out. He begged and begged me to watch with him. So I said "fineee" and guess what? After the first 15 minutes, I couldn't do anymore. I left the room and let my boyfriend watch the rest on his own. 😅 I truly can't stress enough how DONE, I am with M. Night's films.
@@FelipeUebio I hated the Killing of a Sacred Deer. Because they made the bad guy a raving psychopath. If they'd made him human, people could have sympathized with his loss. People have their lives ruined by doctors every day. But they made him a nut you couldn't feel bed for.
This doctored clip aside, Knock at the Cabin is a spectacularly dumb movie. And despite having a couple of gay dads at the centre of the plot, it ends up making them such dopes that it becomes unintentionally homophobic. e.g. (spoiler alert) when the dads finally turn the tables on their crazed captor (who fully intends to "sacrifice" them), they merely lock him in the bathroom, rather than use the gun they have to shoot him (whether to kill or disable). How stupid is that? And in the denouement one of the dads (Groff's character) buys into the mad apocalyptic tale they've been told despite having already established that the one of the religious nutters is a con-man who previously attacked his husband and is presumably motivated by vengeance. Doh.
I'm sorry but this clip looks edited just to make M. Night look bad. By the way, "embarrassed" is not the right sentiment. More like, maybe "appalled" or "taken aback". I love M. Nights work; even his bad ones are worth my time. That man's different. So hate on... haters!!! lol
I don’t really know that much about his recent movies, but the ones i saw had this “Tell, don’t show” rule, which is the opposite of the primary rule in cinema “Show, don’t tell”. So, whether the idea is good of not, this way of narrating is just…..I don’t know….obnoxious
His movies are always such an anti climax. The trailers draw you in then when you see the film you just feel disappointed like you’ve wasted your money. Not a fan.
Honestly, I never liked Shyamalan. He’s only directed 2 good movies (The Sixth Sense and Split) and 1 decent albeit flawed movie (Unbreakable). Everything else he’s made is just complete garbage. And yet SO many people continue to worship him as if he’s a “genius”, yet Robert Zemeckis continues to get so much backlash for such stupid reasons despite Zemeckis being a FAR better filmmaker in every aspect. He’s an ACTUAL genius.
