Tip for moving out in a scramble: rather than wasting money on storage keeping junk, post on Craigslist, FB Marketplace, etc.
A friend was moving and had a lot of items she didn't want to fuss with, keep, pack, etc. So, she put it all on a table in the corner of her garage, took a picture, and posted, "Moving out. Each item is $5 each." She got a couple people, but then a guy showed up, made an offer and took all of her stuff. Another day she put a bunch of stuff at the end of her driveway - treadmill, scrap metal, nightstand, etc. - and posted a pic that said "free," and it was gone in 45 minutes.
Better to sell it dirt cheap than waste money on storing stuff you're not going to come back for. Alex said it best when he said a fast nickel is better than a slow dime.

I had a granddaughter stay with me for a year, and she was really keen on getting some stuff from storage at another house she and her brother had stayed at. Mostly toys. But even though she was in her early teens, she was SO excited to see those toys again. I feel so sorry for the children of this family. You know there are favorite toys in that find that they will never see again.

My sister paid to get my cousins’ stuff out of hock. Primarily she wanted the letters that my grandparents wrote to each other during the war…WWI. All typed with CCs. Three years worth of history. They had not even met yet. It was a “write a letter to a soldier” campaign. Worth the ransom paid. There is mention of a coat my grandmother had her eye on and was saving for…I have a photo of her in that coat with the open galoshes very popular at the time.

This type of thing makes me so sad. As a child, we lost everything when my stepdad left us and my mom got laid off. We lost our house and everything in it. I went to live with my grandparents with one small basket (like the white one in the video) of clothes and my teddy bear. All our stuff was thrown away or sold to the highest bidder. This brought all of that back to me.

@@victoriagreenfield5781 Sorry you went through such a rough childhood.
Storage lockers are 1 of 2 things:
People who can't let go if junk and pare down on stuff
      Or
People going through an upheaval in their life where they find themselves without a home or secure place to live.
To be honest, these are my least favorite videos of his.
Years ago he'd said he didn't like or want to do storage lockers for reasons you mentioned. He'd had a similar childhood.
But him having sold the store, he has to acquire items somewhere.

A few nice winter jackets, 4 or 5 Harley Davidson t-Shirts.. already have my money back. After sorting 12 bags I think I had 3 totes full of name brand clothing to be washed and sell. And about 10 bags of clothes and bedding(sheets or blankets/towels) that go to a Church donation for the Homeless. And because everything was bagged or in boxes... maybe only 1 hour labor to load up. Time is just like money too.

I am curious if you ever have the previous owners of these units reach out to you to retrieve items?

Most people who willingly abandon storage units know what's in them. They aren't likely to walk away from anything of substantial value. Units not willingly abandoned (death or other serious circumstances) have better chances of being worthwhile. Unfortunately, there is usually no way of knowing which is which.

Make sure you look at the rocks closer. I'm sure there may be some nice pieces in there. Otherwise who hauls rocks into a storage locker if they aren't worth keepeing

Could be a child's rock collection. My 9-year-old has some rocks he's saved.

It could also be the person was a crafter and was going to paint the rocks. Or a child planning to paint them.

This one deserves 30,000 likes. The Salvation Army doesn't come close to Alexander Archbold in donations.
This looks like a last-minute home eviction notice storage. Very sad.

I wonder whether they seeded this unit with a load of junk from random other units. At least that was My thought when I saw a huge dolly loaded with piles of random crap was that maybe it came from other units. I sure you weren’t taken by the storage unit company!

The little pop figure is from five nights at Freddy’s. If you find other stuff from five nights at Freddy’s. Like plush, pops or like Lego a lot of that stuff goes for good money. I collect them myself so that’s how I know. Lol

This is the first time I've felt really anxious almost from the get go when you started digging in a storage unit. Yikes! So much misc. clutter and zero organization! I'm only at 8:39, so imagine it'll get better. Knock wood!
