- The Steam Dreams Excursion from London Kings Cross to Newcastle and return was handled by Class 90 pioneer electric number 90001 northbound and LNER A4 pacific 60007 "Sir Nigel Gresley" on the southbound run.
Exceptionally warm but stormy weather led to windy conditions and, because of the warmth, little exhaust from the A4.
Additional footage was kindly provided by my good friend Tom Evans.
Recorded on 6th April, 2024.
Excellent Andy your last sequence panning caught SNG spot on. You should be proud of that!

A4s .... my favourite class of steam locomotive - Andy
I greatly admire the efforts of rail preservation in Great Britain. You run them right out on the main line at speed mixed in with the modern trains. Seems as if a lot of very nice excursions take place here.
We're very lucky in the UK to have so many steam locos operating, both on the mainline and on private heritage lines - Andy
I caught another steamer on the same day and it’s 44871 going to Worcester
We're very lucky in the UK with so many steam locos still operating - Andy
@@AndyDandanFisherSteamyes especially with tank and tender engines
1:58 looks like 60007 is back on home turf
It's always great to see an A4 working the East Coast Mainline - Andy
@@AndyDandanFisherSteamindeed just like in the days of steam
1:05 that 90 looks like it’s invading the east coast mainline
90s have always been occasional visitors to the East Coast since they were built (but not regular workers) _ Andy
