- Southern Railway Bulleid Battle of Britain class pacific, number 34067 "Tangmere", performed absolutely perfectly on The Scarborough Spa Express.
Fortunately, although it was quite windy at times, the weather also performed reasonably well for us.
With help from Dandan and my friend, Tom Evans, we managed a substantial record of Tangmere's operations around the York area. I hope you enjoy the video we captured.
Recorded on 27th June 2024.
Gracias for yet another adventure with this beautiful engine and the gorgeous English countryside!🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂👏👏👏👏👏👏
I'm pleased you enjoyed the video Tomas. You should visit the UK some day! - Andy
Splendid. Such a pleasure to see it again. Many thanks!
I'm pleased you enjoyed the video - Andy
@@AndyDandanFisherSteam Sure did! Thanks.
Excellent footage there Andy and Dandan off Tangmere in action? I hope it does the run to Scarborough on the 1st August?
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think there's a good chance it'll do the run in August - Andy
It's wonderful to see how many steam locomotives are still operating in Great Britain and on main lines at track speed, it appears.
We're incredibly lucky that so many steam locos were saved and are kept working - Andy
@@AndyDandanFisherSteam We have a good number in the USA but most are restricted to how they can operate.
@@1940limited We owe our regular mainline use to the system of rail operation in the UK. The network is state owned and any private company (with the required safety standards) can pay to operate a train on the system. Sadly, our new government intends to nationalise the whole rail system. This could lead to far fewer steam workings - but I hope not! - Andy
@@AndyDandanFisherSteam Many of the Class 1s in the USA don't want excursions with vintage equipment running on their tracks. There's the risk of a breakdown snarling up the line and insurance considerations. I hope they don't nationalize your railroads. I'm sure the private owners do a much better job of running things than government will do.
