The song is not actually about burritos but his career. He was doing over 40 shows in 50 days and suffered from panic attacks as a result. He was working with industry professionals, yet nobody warned him of the extreme mental strain such a regimen would have on his psyche. That is a messy burrito. And he wouldn't have done half of it if he knew this is how he would end up. He had to spend almost half a decade improving his mental state after this last show.
@@darealdilshan4809 It's kind of absurd of him to suggest it isn't considering how he immediately follows up his line about putting on a silly show with the lines: "you can tell them anything if you just make it funny, make it rhyme... and if they still don't understand you then you run it one more time". He's explicitly making the metaphor with those lines, especially since he mixes the lines about the burrito and being unable to handle things at that point.
@@TheWitchsRattle I could see someone asking him directly if it was a metaphor, and him thinking it was funny since it’s almost explicitly explained in the lyrics so he just sarcastically says the opposite of what they were maybe already fishing for.
@@jordanledoux197 He says that because nobody listens to him on stage because his job is to be a comedian. He's performing for people and he's having severe issues on stage (Pretty sure he was having a panic attack during the end of the song since the screaming sounds like a cry for help since panic attacks make it hard to breath) Pretty sure the burrito part is just random bit he threw in to stop the awkwardness that is there when he's expressing his problems and people are sitting there doing nothing because its not comedy, its his life problems. (Is reflected in the newer All Eyes on me, he puts crowd reactions in at times where they shouldn't be laughing to really express this point) He goes up on stages to perform for people and people only react to the stuff that he's trying excessively hard to make funny since people have that big of an impact on his consciousness, the fact that nobody acknowledges him at all unless he's doing comedy, probably puts him in an extremely bad place mentally, hence why he quit 5 years ago.
YOU GET MEEEEE! THAT LINE IS A MADTING. He basically told us he wants to make people happy but can’t find it for himself, man this man deserves the world!
It’s not “kind of a sequel in a way”. It’s a direct mimic. He’s screaming for help and trying to find people who care but audiences only cheer for the basic, ‘silly’ lines.
I'm so glad you came up on my feed! Your thoughtful reaction gave me almost exactly as much joy as this performance itself always does. Thank you!! 👏👏👏
@@darealdilshan4809 Well, I'm very pleased to be a brand new subscriber. You seem very kind and intuitive. I'm really enjoying your channel a lot! Thank you for the great content! ☺ 💕
The amazing thing is that he did have a mental breakdown on stage at one point. The frustrating thing is if you see some American reactions to this they *blatantly* don't understand a single thing he says. There's some daft reaction to Welcome To The Internet somewhere where the dude literally doesn't understand the individual words he says. Like they're only paying attention for three words at a time. Great reaction, man.
It’s unfortunate but a lot of American reactors get away with being funny because they are clueless, nonetheless I respect everyone’s work! What I will say is I’m glad I could understand and genuinely appreciate this man’s epic work! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, hope you click that subscribe button!
Bo is an amazing artist, songwriter, performer, comedian. This was the last song he performed live. Please watch 'Are you Happy?' The closing song to this special. THEN watch 'All eyes on me the closing song to his newest special 'Inside' It honestly feels much more meaningful if you watch both. But if you only pick one, then 'All eyes on me'
These are the best bo burnham reactions on RUclips!! Thank you for making these! Hope you react to more Bo Burnham in the future! Also if you’re looking for specific reccomendations: Funny Feeling will make you cry but it’s beautiful
Ive watched a ton of reactions to this video and yours is by far my favorite. Seeing your facial expressions, especially when he gets serious, is gold. You have a great laugh too.
What really makes this incredible is when you realize he is using metaphors to describe his real mental health problems that lead him to quit preforming live. The burrito is really his comedy career and success being too much for him to handle and how he wishes he had known it would be this way from the beginning.
He said on a podcast that the food sections weren’t metaphors, they were literally just about food. But that is the best thing about art, you are able to interpret it any way that you want.
ah yes, the reglamentary comment about the pseudo-metaphores about the pringle can and the burrito, always with the response pointing out that Bo himself has debunked this on several interviews, saying that those were just silly jokes and that he often finds funny how people tends to overanalyze everything he does
@@NickCTorres Can you really blame people though? A lot of his comedy and songs have self-aware/meta aspects where the message/joke is not always surface level. Regardless if Bo debunks it or not, art is open to interpretation. You cannot deny the accuracy of the metaphor whether Bo intended it or not.
What a response! Whether he intentionally intended for it to be just about food or whether it was metaphorical doesn’t change the fact that it is ART and open to interpretation, the same way a poem line may or may not be inferring something else but will be interpreted differently by different people anyway regardless of the poets original intention. I love how the fans break things down even if Bo meant it or not, it’s great to see how accurate some of the metaphors are whether intended or not!
The thing is it's a perfect metaphor whether he intended for it or not. He's subconsciously on theme. He's talking about not fitting his hand in the pringles can and not fitting the fillings into the burrito, but what's going on underneath is that he's bitten off more than he could chew in taking a life path without knowing the weight of it. Ironically, it fits perfectly. The observational food bit describes the same thing that the introspective bit describes. The can was not designed to fit his hand in it. The burrito is overstuffed. It completely tracks.
8:35, yup subbed just for this. It's easily one of if not my favorite part of the whole show, where he delivers this heart-wrenching line, because all the while, we're enjoying the comedy we payed for, he lets us in on the fact no holding back, that he is indeed struggling but it's all just part of the process & he doesn't really have much else a choice but to continue & not let it slow him down. Thank you for understanding the magnitude/gravity of this special moment with all of us~
Reaction on point. Well done sir. You picked up on what I think are the important components that make Bo Burnham’s performance genius. Keep up the reactions. Really enjoyed it.
you should react to "Are you happy?" is the song that plays at the end of this special right after he leaves with that "thank you, i hope you're happy..."

The metaphors tho.......”my hand won’t fit in a pringles can”, or I’m a square peg, and all I ever see are round holes. “My burrito ingredients won’t fit inside the tortilla”, or I’ve taken on too much in life, and I don’t think I can handle it.
loved your reaction!! honestly had the same reaction when it got really deep. react to more of his stuff like all eyes on me, we think we know you, and more of his older stuff!
Rough to think this was sort of his swan song before he stepped away from the stage for a whole 5 years. Can you do "We think we know you" next? It's the end song from his second special, "What?".
I don’t know how true it is but a lot of people say that the pringles and burrito bits were metaphors for his own life. The pringles can supposedly represents his life goals, which he feels like he can never reach no matter how hard he tries. That’s why he wants a daughter so that someone will be able to achieve the goals he never could. The overfilled burrito could represent his very abrupt rise to celebrity. He suddenly became very very famous after just a few RUclips videos and it was very overwhelming for him. It was too much to fit inside his metaphorical burrito.
Your reaction is exactly what he was talking about when he said "you can tell them anything as long as you are funny and you rhyme"... as soon as the beat came back you lost the empathy you had for the skinny kid with mental health issues fighting depression and went back to this is just entertainment. It's not a knock on you, it just proves his point
When you figure out that the burrito bit is a metaphor for bo bearing his soul on stage and giving to much away which then ended in him having panic attacks and quitting comedy for 5 years.

That line destroyed me!
If I was in that front row when he broke it down, I don't know if I could've stopped myself from running up on stage and bear hugging him.
check out All Eyes On Me, it kind of feels like a sequel to this song in a way

This was the last special he did for 5 years as he quit performing in order to recover his mental health.
I’ve heard, I think the ending definitely helped the viewers understand to some extent where his mental health was
Can I just say I appreciate how hyped this guy gets?
I’m glad you enjoyed it
