Wash it when your project is completely finished and done sewing.

So does the scrap tape just serve as a guide? . . . because it seems like you could do this with the scrap tape. Is it kind of quilting as you go but without batting for something lighter weight?

Hi. Scrap tape serves as a base, so you can stitch any fabrics together. It doesn't matter whether the strips are straight grain, cross grain ,or bias cut. It is so light weight that it doesn't add any bulk to your project. and when your project is complete you can wash it and it dissolves!! Happy sewing!

I use old sheets as my base for string quilts. It's a lot cheaper.

@@HayesSewingMachineCo It doesn't wash away, but it does add to the warmth of the quilt. It's also a great way to repurpose worn out sheets. Enjoyed the video, however, but that stuff is expen$ive in this day and age.
