- “Advance Strike” is a great new way to fend off throws and physical blows, allowing for even more aggressive plays than those possible with Shatter Strikes. This new mechanic costs half a power gauge bar to perform, but you’ll regain that half bar on both hit and block.
An Advance Strike causes a hard knockdown on hit, leaving you well placed for more offense. Unlike Shatter Strikes, the move gains a counter hitbox against throws partway through; if it lands while the counter is active, your opponent will crumple to the ground (and be prone to follow-ups). Use Advance Strikes to bring the fight to your opponent like never before!

For those asking for Season 3: SNK usually announces seasons or big content at events like SWC or Evo USA/Evo Japan. SWC is in March, Evo Japan is in April.
Can’t wait. SNK might drop some new info about Garou or show new gameplay, but I do hope KOFXV does get a season 3.

Last season didn't have a World Championship, and that season was announced at EVO Vegas. If you check SNK's history, they always announce seasons or big content at huge fighting game events like EVO, or their own world championship events. That's been consistent.@@voiddragooon5977

Here are two ways season 3 can go
1. More returning favorites as usual and have the boss challenges be around the NESTS and Ash sagas (and maybe Verse, Re Verse, and Otoma=Raga too)
2. Solely focus on the Maximum Impact saga! Sure it is a spin-off to the KOF franchise, but the characters *really need* that spotlight again! Just imagine all five KOF Protagonists together (Kyo Kusanagi, K', Ash Crimson, Shun'ei and Alba Meira)!
Better to make one this year since it's KOF's 30 year anniversary and all.

So you can armor through when they’re mashing on wake-up, their invincible reversals, and throws if they get overwhelmed by your offense.
What a curveball of an addition. It definitely seems like a "modern" fighting game mechanic, especially with how straightforward the counterplay is. Personally, I thought the system mechanics in Kof15 were already satisfactory, but I guess we'll have to see how this shakes things up.
The thing is that GC seems to be the ONLY counterplay, so if you have no meter you are in infinite blockstun. The attacker having their meter refunded even on block is insane.
It's more pressure on their opponent at the cost of more meter and it targets opponents throws. Evasion rolls will have a better use now.

This Advance Strike is - in part - like a "super" throw tech option. Very cool.
Side note: I really appreciate the commitment to this game that SNK has maintained since release.
Damn!! A new unexpected mechanic. I shall use this whenever the game updates. This was a literal curveball. I’m assuming they’re trying to keep up with the market when it comes to aggression.
I like how well this mechanic is explained from how it works, to its pros and cons which seem to make it a balanced addition (in theory) that is if players are able to build some crazy stuff around it.
The mechanic basically has given you a way to deal with wakeup ex dps and reversals like throws. Some characters, especially aggressive ones like Kyo will benefit from this.
It's good to see that the game is still receiving support, I'm here hoping for a season 3 🤞🤞

Think this confirms that whatever crossover title is coming (Capcom vs. SNK vs. Tekken), probably will have Tekken, Capcom, and SNK in it. These three games have converging mechanics, and are becoming very similar - in their own ways. (Released on Tekken release date).

This seems like a way to discourage constant hyper-hop pressure. Seems fair in that regard.
Hopefully, staff have considered a couple of left-field picks for next season's DLC line-up. Just imagine Elta from Magician Lord, Rasputin from World Heroes, or my fave pick, Gen-An Shiranui from SamSho!

Not only he is the rival of Hanzo Hattori but also the most popular ninja made by ADK
I like how Fuuma was also playable in Aggressors of Dark Kombat with a different moveset.

People asking for Season 3. SamSho was less popular than KOFXV by a decent amount (especially outside of Japan) and it got 3 seasons and guest characters. No way KOF won’t. It’s impossible.

This is pretty huge and a brilliant way to add more complexity to the game, in terms of both aggression and defensive options. Seems like a form of SF4 focus attack for the modern SF6 drive and Tekken 8 heat era. Getting the spent meter back encourages use, while still keeping at least some possible risk factor for total whiffs and being intelligently predicted by your opponent
XV already had its answer to the 'forward advancing armored crumple resource-spender' trend in Shatter Strikes. This is just a new variation that has different pro/con spread.

It works against both attacks and throws, OK that's fine. Reversal and counter reversal.
But it's also safe on block and regains the meter usage on both hit and block?
I don't think it being unsafe on whiff is enough to balance out how strong this mechanic seems to be.
The current SNK doesn't know what the hell they're doing.

Does this mean they can easily punish defensive players who mash on wake-up for them to be more pressured?
Yeah but I don’t think it should refund at all. From what I see it as, it’s a much stronger shatter strike. We’d have to get out hands on it to see how lenient the mash before the guard point shows up is
Well a lot of people default to the delay strike/throw OS by pure habit, normally to hard punish it one way to do it you would have to DP on their face , huge risk low reward.
The other option is to be slightly out of range.
This new option counters it directly, keeps your turn and very little risk (on block technically safe, rolling would be the hard read with a big punish but also high risk) with decent award.
I assume it would also stop people from mashing delayed Crouch B/A but we don't know if the guard point is low enough.
If they mash as soon as they wake up it won't stop them as the guard point happens later.
Normally it shouldn't work against close C but it does because it freezes the opponent before it hits, weird how that seems to work, i don't think it would freeze other attacks that arent close C/D ,command grabs and i guess grab supers (unless they specifically make an exception for those)
@@meister4597Higher damage scaling, and if they expect your Advanced Strike they can wake up roll and you're combo bait.
@@Keirnoth im more concerned about it being used in blockstrings. It doesn’t look that much slower than Shatter Strike that you can roll on reaction but we’ll see.

List of attributes that I got from this vid:
Hard knock down on regular or airborne hit
Crumple on grounded counter (also increased scaling)
Grounded throw invul (may be considered airborne from in video description)
Guard point (not frame 1, I assume frame 4~5 but we'll have to wait and see)
Costs half a meter which is refunded on connection (either hit or block)
Plus on block (video states you get to move first when blocked).
This will probably be a solid buff to anyone with a good shatter strike (assuming they share hit boxes). Also possibly universal AA option since despite it's slow start up it has guard point and leaves you both at advantage and meter neutral when blocked. It's also safe to assume this new mechanic cannot be cancelled into considering the crazy pressure that could create (once more I gotta say they state it's your advantage on block).
Ohh amazing! This will nerf wake up throws which is one of the most commons complaints on XV, and since it can be countered with emergency evasion is not an overpowered mechanic!

Achei legal que é uma solução para os agarrões no wake up, mas tenho medo da farofagem que isso vai gerar. Parece muita recompensa pra pouco risco. Estou muito a fim de testar. Espero mais novidades para o game, como melhorias no online, modos single player (survivor e time attack) e talvez mais uma season pass.
Farofagem sempre teve nos kofs. O lance é que agora o jogador vai ter que prever o que será feito. O jogo terá mais mind game.
Sobre modos singles: survival, time attack e um novo modo trial com 16 novos missoes para cada personagem + color edit já deixaria o jogo mais interessante para os single players. Seria bacana se no survival e time attack serem por competição. A cada 2 meses a pontuação é resetada e os 15 melhores players de cada categoria ganhasse algo exclusivo, podendo ser uma skin. Isso daria um gásno jogo. Sobre skin era apenas contratar esse povo que faz moda de roupas.

I saw "Advance Strike" and thought for sure that KOF was getting it's own version of Drive Rush, too.
We have it. Just tap forward twice. If you mean canceling a hit into a drive rush, KOF has that since more than 20 years ago.
A minor change, but still better than the stop and go feel of SF6.

In a sense but the mechanic doesn’t automatically move your character. You move your character to your opponent to do the mechanic.

Drive impact isn't the 1st mechanic.
So, an invincible strike that cost half meter which can be taken back on block or hit. Getting the hit causes a hard knockdown so no combo BUT still lets you act first if it's blocked. You don't get anything back if you miss. That's pretty overpowered.
Characters like Angel and Shun are going to be even scarier now 😮

You can't wakeup throw, it doesn't OS into a heavy and has decent whiff. They are not nearly as strong as kof throws

@@Zwyrx_Hgqfyggz tell them that at this point you should start considering using your meter, plus backdashing then leaves you plus and in range to punish, also jumping is great at the corner, and teching still gives you space to get another shot at escaping so read the opponent.
Throws are supposed to be strong in the corner, as all offense in all games.

So this is the answer to the wake-up throw problem in KOFXV. At least people can't complain about that anymore.
So a better solution to ending block strings Or a method to call out your opponent with something when you don't have anything else to fall back on.

So basically, if I’m reading this correctly, whiff it and you’re dead, land it and _they’re_ dead
If they block it you just run your regular offense, if they get hit it's a knockdown so essentially you're back to the same situation
They aren't necessarily dead, but it's very much your turn

Nice mechanic but did it really need to have an input to execute? Couldn’t it just have been executed using the controller bumpers? I’d much rather prefer that than be doing inputs, just saying!
