There is nothing better than Voiceplay, ever! I recognized all of the music, but could only name a couple of them.
If you aren't aware, the arranger, Layne this time, is responsible for the entire production. Costumes, set, makeup design, production, video editing and the first mix of the music. They occasionally mix it up, Eli does the lighting and special effects for Voiceplay and some of Geoff's solo work.
Great reaction, man, loved the enthusiasm!

I can't tell from your reaction if you've seen the "1st" installment of this, Hall of the Mountain King, that they did about a year ago. Same characters except for Rachel. If you haven't, check it out! Also, don't worry about VP and copyrights. They love reactors and as they are independent don't block things. Any time someone has a blocking issue with a VP video it's RUclips related. Layne arranged this and there are 12 different classical songs in here, they're listed in the video credits. This was filmed at Pattycake Productions, the studio owed by Layne & former VP baritone Tony Wakim. They were about to dismantle the "forest" set so that's why VP had to get this one filmed now. Fun Patreon fact, that part where Cesar "steals" Geoff's voice - that's actually Layne singing, not Geoff. Layne's vocal range is as big as Geoff's! Up next, I hope, will be Geoff's newest release, an extended version of "Big Iron". (He did a short of it earlier.) Hope you enjoyed your vacation!

I did see the first version, but apparently need to look back at it. I completely forgot about the characters were from that. What great information about behind the scenes of the set. Layne... Layne was doing the singing... I had some suspicions, but when one thinks about it, with the ability of Layne's beatbox abilities, and the sounds he is able to create his range would need to be wide.

In case you want to know some of the movies that have used these classical scores. VoicePlay brought into the studio about 30 trees for this set. It seems to me that Rachel was very annoyed with the fellows since she was working on the spells and the guys kept getting in the wayacting like 3rd graders. It's definitely a fun watch. When they get to the CanCan, Cesar does a bit of dancing. He also steals the book and uses a spell to steal Geoff and Rachel's voices!
Toccata and Fugue in D Minor - J. S. Bach Disney's Fantasia used this for the opening of the movie in 1940
Eine kleine Nachtmusik - Mozart Used in The Scarlet Pimpernel 1939
Habanera from ''Carmen Suite No.2'' - Georges Bizet in Disney/Pixar UP also in Trainspotting
Symphony No 5 in C Minor - Ludwig Van Beethoven in Breakfast Club, Austin Powers, Howard's End
The Blue Danube Waltz - Johann Strauss II 2001: A Space Odyssey and Disney's The Jungle Book
Dance of the Hours - Ponchielli Disney's Fantasia hippos do ballet
Für Elise - Beethoven Rosemary's Baby 1968, Patch Adams, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Django Unchained

Thank you so much for all the information. I recognize and have heard all those pieces in multiple situations, including many of the movies you listed. I truly love music. Yeah, it dawned on me by the end, they were all stealing the book and she was getting more and more upset through the video.

Hard to miss, all of them had fun with it. Even Geoff with his grab on the book was amusing. Layne's character was hysterical, and the voice he used had to put some level of strain on his vocal cords.

  • @letheardaw

My take on this was that the Grundells found a witch's cauldron and screwed with it in The Hall of the Mountain King, and accidently popped themselves out. In this one, the Green Grundell finds his way back, and also finds a witch's spell book, accidently summoning the witch. She tries to take control back...
Hence ticked off Rachel...😁 MTV lost it after Dire Straits 🤣

That is a great take on it. I love it! Yeah, they most certainly show their playful sides in some of these videos. Once an actor always an actor I guess. What's funny is they remind me of the Danny K's and the like from a long long time ago that were multi talented.

This is a set at PattyCake Productions (co-owner by Layne). This is part 2 where the "grundels" (what they are called) meet the Dazzling White Witch (aka Rachel Potter). This set was also used for part 1 - In The Hall of the Mountain King where the grundels meet the Violet Warrior Queen (aka Elizabeth Garozzo).

Such a great reaction! VP puts out a video a month (along with a few minis/shorts which get so overlooked) . There are 12+ years of gold on their channel. When I first collided with "The Dragon Born Comes" a couple of years ago I went to the start of their channel (being an a Capella geek) and just worked my way forward through their astonishing catalog, they have created some amazing video projects even with the line up changes over the years. You will always see Layne, Geoff,(who are founding members when the group was called 4:2:Five) and Eli who joined in 2010(or so) I believe.

This was filmed at Pattycake Studios, owned by Layne Stein and Tony Wakim. They just released another segment of their Villains Lair, and that required a forest built on stage. So they adapted/altered (?) the forest and used it again for this. Sometimes it's all about timing!

    • @ESClone27

That is amazing. Yeah they say it's all in the timing, and this was proof. What a professional look for the video. So much fun to watch.

    • @janetdw

@@ESClone27 you really should take a peek at some of PattyCake Productions videos. The villains lair is still my favorite. It is the story of Disney cartoon villains who have been banished and want to regain their power. All of the songs, dialogue and costumes were done by them. With Tony, a prior VoicePlay member as baritone, sewing a lot of those costumes.
A fun one would be the villains at the haunted mansion. A security guard is in charge of a room with villains pictures mounted on the wall when they come to life. Disney has acquired the rights to a lot of older movies and so we see the witch from Wizard of Oz, The white witch from the Narnia series and others. Very highly recommended. You can get an idea of just how truly professionally produced these are.

One of my favorite classical music/cartoon mashup is Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in Wagner’s ride of the Valkyries. Whenever I hear it I just hear Elmer Fudd singing “kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit.”
A lot of early Disney also did combination of cartoons and classical music. There was a whole series called silly symphonies and Mary melodies. One is Disney the other I believe was Warner Brothers. A lot of the music I recognize is because of those cartoons. I’m really old so that’s the kind of cartoons we had back then.

Wayne is an incredible arranger, and producer. On another interview, Layne and Elizabeth (the Charismatic Voice), Layne discussed that he put this together with about 150 tracks which included all the timing, special effects, etcetera. I thought it was incredible that Rachel Potter was the only one who had actual words at the conclusion. "Done" and "Hmmmnph" then she turns and sauntered off. Too bad you didn't play the after section with their Patrons as Wayne and Eli had a fun time explaining about "merchandice". Love their theatrics and that's why they are known as Voice PLAY😁

This is a set created at Layne;s Pattycake Productions studio. They go to emormous lengths to achieve the effects they want. The characters were first seen in last year's In The Hall of the Mountain King, and are apparently known as Grundels. The music is all listed in the credits. Layne came up with this and arranged it. He has done an interview with The Charismatic Voice explaining how he did the music track. NOt just key changes, I think he said he used something like 140 tracks for this one. Oh yeah he does the special effects too.

And I would very much like to recommend you a singer from Kazakhstan - Dimash Kudaibergen. I can confidently say that he is the best singer on the planet. He can give life to any song. You don't have to understand the words and yet you will understand everything. The first song I recommend - SOS d'un terrien en détresse - from 2017. It is a performance in China at a competition. He didn't win that time only because a foreigner is not allowed to gamble in China. But this performance made him famous all over the world. If you like it, I will continue with the song - Stranger - (Новая Волна 2021). Here he will show what he can do, but not everything 😍. If you decide for Dimash, I will look forward to your reaction. :-) And you won't regret it. I promise. 😇
