Nice edit Richard. What a day, was much harder than I expected! Really good standard from everybody considering the short time. I certainly took some lessons away with me and that's what railway modelling is all about. Cheers
Hi Matt and Richard, and what a great day it was to, funny i don’t remember it being only 45mins in length either. It was great just to meet all of you RUclipsrs alike. Best part of the day was meeting you all. Great banter between all to, you were just so down to earth guys that love to modelling. Nice blog Matt and you have captured the day in 45mins perfectly. I look forward to the next similar event that i can hopefully attend again in the future. 👍Thumbs Up👍

In the end, how it turned out I felt yours was the most unique and creative. Some great concepts in this as well. Something new to see each time. Clint at Leila Central.

Great video Richard. What all you guys achieved in 5 hours was unbelievable. Superb standard from every team and how the judges could make a decision out of the four was extremely difficult. What a fantastic video Richard. A thoroughly enjoyable day and I'm so glad I was there to witness a great competition. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to share my experience of the day. Well done mate! Team Big Dick, Little Dick did a grand job!
It's strange because, for the last couple of months or so I've been pondering the idea of recreating old disused British stations in a diorama style layout. I thought I was the only one that was thinking of this, but you've beaten me to it lol. I would love to have a try at recreating a model version of disused stations that were once in my area, using period old photos as my source. The disused stations website is a great site for such photos (some taken in the early 20th century) as well as information regarding each station and the facilities it had. You can also find some rare period photos on ebay. The diorama is an interesting idea, but would have to be pretty large to accommodate all the station buildings, platforms etc. Imagine those dioramas on display in your living room glass cabinet or shelf.
Absolutely wonderful to see you guys produce these dioramas. I personally do diorama commission work and so understand the balance you would have been through of pace but also accuracy. This is something I would definitely love to take part in! I love that the proceeds go to charity too! Well done all round!

really enjoyed the entire posting. nice work done by all teams. I would like to say, that since all dioramas are to go on auction for charity, perhaps the winner should be chosen by which one brings the most at sale. i'm GLAD I was not a judge, i'd have been hard pressed to pick one over the other.
Fantastic diorama guys - well done! Loved the original approach of going with an urban environment, really brought something different to the table. It was great to see the time, effort and dedication put into building layouts that small - meant that you could really get something top notch in the time allocated. Perhaps a certain railway modelling TV program could learn a thing or two from that approach :-)

I like what you did, but I think I'd have done something really different. I might've done a waiting room with a live screen behind it to simulate passing trains through the windows. Steam coming through the door, passenger announcements, that sort of thing. Not necessarily model railway in a traditional sense though as there would be no track or trains... the live screen behind the windows might not be allowed either!
