That Brent guy seems really talented. Hopefully his parents with get him an amp soon
He should get a part time job to get the money
@@raulcepeda6 He can mow my lawn If He wants
Heard he found one next to the tracks while busking to the passing trains ✌️🤗
He's stupidly good on lead. Like a country guitarist playing metal or vice versa.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mastodon riffs just have that _groove_ that makes you wanna play them over and over and over...
Faxxxx
That one riff from the baron is just *chefs kiss* beautiful
@@rockyaldebaran4085 and the best thing about your comment is that you never mentioned which riff you're talking about, but we all know it's _that_ riff!
Is it the one at 5:30 (in The Last Baron) ? Cause if it is, the one from Divinations is quite similar imo, it feels like cousin riffs to me
bill really is a master riff maker. and b hinds brings that spicy flair and the wicked solos. they compliment each other well.
I got the opportunity to have a lesson will Bill not to long ago and this doesn’t even begin to show off how much of a riff machine he is. It really all does flow out of him. He said he has a hard drive with THOUSANDS of riffs just sitting on it. That’s over 35 years of playing guitar and 20 soothing years as a band but still. It just flows out of him and I’m so jealous LMAO
@@matthewbehrle4428 that's awesome!
That's *exactly* how I see them. Can't think of a best guitar tandem than Brent and Bill.
Bill is the backbone of the sound.
Mastodon is supercool! Thanks for paying attention to this band |m/
Paying attention? This guy has never written a single thing anyone knows about. Why should his attention to Mastodon mean a thing?
Mastodon definitely has some unique riffs.. every band has their own unique way of doing things.. I’ll always be amazed at how your skill level helps you recreate all these bands seemingly with ease.. you are something else..
You can spot a mastodon riff a mile off. They truly have a signature sound.
Brent is so shy that he can be serious only when the attention isn't on him.
I think Blood Mountain needed way more screen time in this. Fight me on that one. Heavily underrated album, pun intended
My favorite album period
Crack the skye wasn’t even featured! Blood mountain should’ve gotten less time IMO
Underrated? I thought it was considered one of their best by the fanbase. I always thought it was actually overrated (not that it doesn't totally bang anyway).
Blood Mountain is the first album I bought in 2006 and it still to this day is a beat down start to finish
@@fabioriato Personally, Blood Mountain is great, but the title of "best Mastodon album" would definitely be far better fitting to Leviathan or Crack the Skye.
Surprised (anything from) The Czar or The Last Baron didn't make it.
YES I love mastodon so much
the riff right before that final part in Circle of Cysquatch is also underrated af and sounds insanely heavy with those vocoded vocals that Troy does
Bill Kelliher is just one of those guys like Keith Merrow. No real solos but crushing riffs that stick in your brain.
All time great metal riff writer.
Es una banda increíble, saludos desde Colombia 🇨🇴.
Fallen Torches has one of the heaviest outros ever! Love that riff!!
More Than I Could Chew became my favortive song of Mastodon, I Love their riff
Needs the last major riff from hunters of the sky imo, really glad to see the legendary cysquatch riff made it in, that part of the song is so glorious.
No Last Baron?
That was THE riff, man.
yes!!! Omg that is one of their tastiest riffs and that's saying a lot cuz they have so many amazing licks
A mindblowing one, but more on the grooviest rather than heaviest list I'd say.
Es no heavy, es groovy
I mean it’s awesome but it’s not even remotely close to one of their heaviest riffs
Awesome vídeo Man, a incredible guitar class with the big guys, just awesome 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘
Thank you for your work)
You are one of the best
Bill is a God tier metal riffer and Brent is a super unique while also being technically awesome. One of the best guitar duos ever imo.
Keep going bro . Those series are great !!!
Beautiful guitar and incredible playing.
Wow! Nailed it 🤘
What a sound man \m/ I just love it 🤘
Good job with the drum tracks!
One of the most legendary bands to ever exist. It's a shame this has a lower view count than your other videos.
Been waiting for this one
no puedo creer que solo hace unos meses descubri esta banda, deberian invertir un poco mas en difusion ya que vale mucho la pena escuchar esta increible banda! saludos desde argentina!
I can’t imagine how much time you need for perfect editing so that’s the music, mastodon video and your video match perfectly
Idk man. Jaguar God, from about 4.25 til the end, is a very heavy riff indeed.
Omg finally! I fucking love Mastodon! Love them! Thank you! Even have the dvds for Brent and Bill! My favorite band ever. Even watched live at the Georgia aquarium!
Hey Vermilion you should do Top 10 Call of duty zombies Riffs… Like 115 or Coming home
Can I request you go to BMTH and get their picks for the heaviest riffs?
Fuckn Dirty B Hinds pulling through in this video. I wish we were best friends
Missed March of the Fire Ants, the song that got me into Mastodon, its pretty heavy and Brann goes apeshit at the end. Some great picks here though.
What is the little purple guitar you are using?
What tuning do they use primarily?
Brent just being brent xDdDd
Bill is the core of the band, change my mind.
What are those glowing thingies and what do they do?
Can you please advise the tunings? thanks!!!
i entered the video with crusher destryoing inn my mind heheheheh
vermillion, whats the name of the guitar picks?
I love how their heaviest riff ever (crack the skye) didn’t make it on there lol
Shiiiiiiiiiiiii, they all heavy
Despite not really enjoying much after crack the skye, mastodon remain one of my favourite bands of all time. Leviathan is probably as close to a perfect metal album and it's possible to get. They seem like nice dudes too.
Me too man. A large part of who I am today is owed to those first 4 albums especially leviathan. But I just never got into anything after the hunter. Still think Brent and brann are musical role models
Lol Brent is insane
Dude just doesn’t give a rip
It’s kinda refreshing 😂
I love him, he's hilarious.
You know when the band breaks up, it's gonna be because of him
As soon as I saw that shirt I immediately thought of TOMORROW X TOGETHER 😂
Picked the wrong riff from spectrelight. 😅
High Road shoulda been on here instead of More Than I Could Chew or Spectrelight
they forgot about Slickleg
wheres the crack the skye songs😤😤😤
So, you basically stole a video posted 3 months ago, adder nothing to it, and posted it as your own.....awesome job! You definitely deserve ad revenue for this!
Lol he played / mixed all od this riffs, not to mention editing, also idk if he get ad revenue for it
None of these I'd personally consider to be their heaviest guitar riffs (or anywhere near the top 10). Riffs within "High Road", "Black Tongue" or "The Last Baron" would be on the list for sure just to give some examples. Depends on how you measure a heavy riff. A blend of pitch, tempo, chords and rhythm for sure, but the 10 in the video seem to be caught up by speed over the other traits too much, if thrash metal was a form of your measure then it would make more sense. Still still awesome riffs and well played too. The tone of the guitar was amazing!
What on earth is that blue light on your fretting hand thumb?
