- In January 2023, Dr. Michaela Kiersch sent ‘La Rambla’ (5.15a), making her the 3rd woman to send the route, and the 7th woman to climb 5.15.
‘La Rambla’ is one of the best - and oldest - 5.15’s in the world. Established in 2003, La Rambla is a benchmark for international sport climbing. Since her ascent of ‘Dreamcatcher’ (5.14d) in 2021, Michaela has re-dedicated herself to reaching this goal - spending more time bouldering, hangboarding, and training. Looks like it’s paying off.

Met Michaela at my gym when I first started climbing. She was like 12 -- she's never not been strong.
Congrats for the send, amazing! But what is this video? No info about the route, no sequences... Looks more like a long teaser
Michaela is amazing!!! Such positive AND happy climber…VENGA 💪🏼👌🏼👍🏼
Just divine, already the video of Dreamcatcher made me wait with anticipation for this video and it was worth the wait, thanks for sharing this masterpiece.

Nice Video 🎉🤩
Let's gooo
Hell yeah, incredible! 💪🏼. That deadpoint at 4:44 is a moonboarding dream in real life
That's a well deserved Estrella.
Sharma never did it so pretty. Way to go Michaela!
Congratulations 🎉
Okay. Got it. Pull ups, la rambla, pull ups, la rambla, and repeat until sent.
Great view count….awesome send wow
Finally somebody celebrates with a beer! 🍻😄
Micheala Krrush! :)
Pun not unintended
7:38 She doesn't take back quickdraws ?
Whey does the color of her shirt change from the majority of the footage to the little clip at the end where she’s lowered off the climb?
Congratulations!!! I would have loved to see the whole climb though, kind of a shame. Thanks anyway for the footage!
One question, at the end she sends the route but she lets the quickdraws on the wall and makes the rope fall... So how will she take back her quidraws ?
She will repeat the route or someone else will follow on top rope, unclip their line from the draw, unclip the draw from the bolt and proceed up. Anchors have hooks or rappel rings at the top. The climber will go up, connect themselves into the original bolt system (using a POS or something similar), loop the rope into the rap rings, undo the climber built anchor, weight themselves on the rope, undo their POS and then get lowered or set up to rappel down themselves :)
It’s just b roll
On most hard routes there are permanent quickdraws. I bet it's the same for this one.
At 7:39?
This is not even actual sending footage. This is a rehearsal in which she probably made few moves in a raw and multiple stops, waiting for the camera to move at the right place.
Actual footage of the send starts at 7:56, if I am not mistaken (by the way, thank you for including some actual footage in the video).
What's a 5.15a? This route is in Spain, we don't use that system on this side of the Atlantic. 😂
Yo qué sé tio 🤭
Exactly, in Siurana they use Sika and cement ;)
you’ll never climb one don’t worry :)
@@trevorratchford3768 Why not? Everyone in my neighbourhood climbs 6s and 7s. This is only a 5 something... 😅
What's thee first thing a climber says when meeting someone new. How's long they climbed.... Another one
This spectacular climb and great achievement could have been well documented. Instead we get this video that shows nearly nothing. That's not how climbing videos should look like.
Hate to say it but the more minimalist style of film making for route climbing is far superior. Sick send tho.
9a+ for most of the world and the original scale in which it was graded.
The video is also in English despite being shot in Spain... so what? She’s an American...
This is like seeing a new world record marathon time and complaining that they didn’t tell the time in binary numbers.
@@AHHHXAVI If a significant portion of the world would be using binary numbers for marathon times it would be a valid complaint.
If you are truly passionate about climbing you can probaboy convert it on your own. Everybody knows 15a is 9a+, it's 2023 and we have internet
@@pierocus3261 I am passionate about climbing, I’ve watched climbing news and competitions for years. I can’t get the hang of the 5.xx scale or the V scale. I really only have a feeling for the French and FB scale and I’m somewhat okay with the UIAA scale.
I’ve only climbed in Austria and Italy and I’ve never climbed (or seen) anything graded in the 5.xx or V scale.
wow, one of the greatest accomplishments of all time by a female athlete, and Petzl makes the most inappropriate video for said achievement. Cant believe the injustice they dis Michaela with this video, barely about the climb and the shear ability it takes to do this.
nice send, but the editing and music are not great
Really poorly made video. This was an epic accomplishment and the video editing trivializes it to a great degree.
Too much bad music, too many jump cuts, too much slow motion, not enough unbroken climbing. Booooooo to the filmmaker.
Congrats, Michaela!
Incredible athleticism, absolutely lousy filmmaking.
That music ruined the whole experience.
First time watching a climbing video eh?
I guess that’s just like your opinion.
@@duncanstoebner4504 Given the thumbs up I guess it’s most’s opinion. The production of Black Diamond videos is superb in every aspect, but it seems that PETZL is quite behind. A stunning female 9a+ send video is ruined because of that.
So next time you decide to watch a climbing video why not turn the sound off and just admire the talent of the climber being filmed?
The video is so lacking in continuity that I find it hard to follow.
Only German descendants has those crazy mindsets.
Whoever filmed and edited did a terrible job. Unwatchable.
🖤🖤🖤🖤…..😎🤩🧐bravissima !!!!!!….ma musica di merda !!!😂😂
climbing videos are really starting to become similar and more boring. Great achievement though.
Amazing the performance of Michaela, but the petzl movie is way too psychedelic. A kid with a phone would de made a better climbing movie.
"i thrive when im being challenged", "i dont think i've found my limits", how american is that 🤮 You forgot "i always try to step out of my confort zone" among other prayers from the social network bible. These vids keep getting more and more unpersonified.
Congrats for the send though, and heads up to the filmmaker too for that shot @4:33
Thanks for the video Petzl! But would it kill you to *also* write the grade in the system used in the country it was shot in and from the country the brand is from ? 🫠
Find something important to complain about. You and I both know 15a is 9a+. There is no implied disrespect to Spain or the French grading system.
@@jnick5358 I don't. I don't care to learn every grading system, I also don't know how to deal with Fahrenheit or Inches. Why would I when I never need it?
@@walterlotte4215 Look it up; it take 5 seconds and you'll learn something. Or don't - it doesn't really matter anyway does it? It's a beautiful and difficult route that not that many people can climb.
