Video by: One Voice
This is my favorite fan song from game of thrones I know the lyrics are very descriptive, and I hope it wasn't too offensive for you, but it IS the deadliest show on HBO, but I'm SOOO excited about Season 8! Have you seen the Official Trailer yet? Please no spoilers below in the comments if at all possible. (even tho this song is a spoiler if you haven't seen season 3 I'm sorry but get with the program ha!)
I have been patiently waiting for the PERFECT time to share this #GameofThrones inspired video with all of you! I couldn't think of a better time than right before Game of Thrones picks back up and reveals the final moments of truth! Also, can we give a HUGE round of applause to Ramin Djawadi? He is such a genius and behind all of the wonderful music you hear in the show.
This song is special because it was specifically inspired by J.R.R. Martins words from the Game of Thrones books. It is a little more graphic than most songs that I sing, but I felt like it was so hauntingly beautiful. This experience made me feel like a bard who had just watched this awful event and wanted to tell the tragic story.. I hope that came across in the video!!
We were able to film this entire video in Portugal in so many different STUNNING locations throughout the country and it was just an overall awesome experience. This video is full of beautiful scenes and haunting locations, I legitimately filmed INSIDE (well kind of inside but also kind of underneath) a real life castle! It is one of my favorite shots of the entire video. Let me know what you think of all of the imagery within the video!
"Once you’ve accepted your flaws, no one can use them against you.” - George R.R. Martin
I hope that you enjoy being transported to the northern lands of Westeros Hollensfamily! May this weekend be filled with sunshine, happiness, and love. Sending so much love and appreciation to all of you!
LYRICS:
Now there once was a time when the northerners sang
Of a king they had crowned: More a boy than a man
More a pup than a wolf, with the cold of the realm in his eyes
He’d broken a vow to the lords of the twins:
Wed a stranger, a beauty, but a promise there’d been
So the lord frey demanded a bridegroom as compromise
And the timbers groaned
River wind softly moaned
“Oh, the king in the north doesn’t know
How a red wedding goes”
Well, the feasting was plenty and the singing in tune
And the stark wolves, they howled ‘neath their northern moon
So loud were their cries that the closing of doors was drowned out
Lady catelyn alone had the river’s sharp ear
Heard dancing reels turn to the rains of castamere
In her skin and bones growled a creature of doubt
And the timbers groaned
River wind softly moaned,
“Oh, the king in the north soon will know
How a red wedding goes”
There were arrows and daggers, and the touch of them burned;
From players to slayers in an instant were turned
And the foreigner queen was the first to fall under the knife
With two arrows in him, the king crawled to her side
While his mother, she pleaded for the lord to subside
But he’d taken their word, and to break it meant no right to life
And the timbers groaned
River wind softly moaned
“Oh, the king in the north, now he knows
How a red wedding goes”
Lord bolton approached; with a thrust to robb’s heart
He gave him the lannister lions’ regards
And the king’s mother wept, for his last word had called her to him
There was nothing she felt cutting lady frey’s throat
And she felt nothing more when they slashed her own
The north will remember, she thought, and they’ll have all your skins
And the timbers groaned
Now the wolves lie below
Oh, the king in the north, if he’d known
How a red wedding goes
And the timbers groan
But the north waits; they know
That one day the blood they ared owed
Will run ‘neath their soles
But seriously though. Season 8 is coming. And winter is coming... GAME OF THRONES IS BACK! Thank you HBO!

A fan wrote this. There was more thought put into the lyrics of this song than the entirety of season 8.
“Leave one wolf alive and the sheep are never safe”
Arya Stark massacring the Frey’s. “Winter came for House Frey”
Aye sir
Now if only they made another song about that.
@@libbythomas2127 A girl does not need a song. A girl is no one, but the debt had to be paid.
So cool that something I wrote inspired you to do this! This is a gorgeous take, thanks for sharing xx P
Your song was SO amazing!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for creating such a lovely piece 🙌
Do a version on youtube, it will attract much more audience than soundcloud.
Amazing job with this song, i am absolutely baffled.
Amazing writing, will done
I remember listening to the beautiful original in fact I still have it on my phone.
Ive been listening to your version for so long paola, it inspired me to try out songwriting on my own, so thank you!
"The North will remember", she thought, "and they'll have all your skins"
Chills.
"When people ask you what happened here, tell them The North remembers. Tell them Winter came for House Frey."
Yes!
And they remembered for damn sure!
LITERALLY!!
"and they'll have all your skins and bake many pies"
The best part about a capella is the goose bumps I get from your the power in your voice
😱😱😱 Thank you so much Elentiya! ❤️
I don’t cry easily, but dammit, Peter, you got me good. It’s not hard to believe that you were there at the Red Wedding. You gave me chills.
Peter of House Hollens, whose words are ‘Our Voices are Always Raised’.
a common saying but not their official motto
@@StrayPaolo I thought his House's words were "Forte, Dulcet, Tenor".
it is not his song btw
Love how he builds the emotion in this. Especially the tension. Edit: Just listened again, definitely anticipation as well.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
As well as a resolve to the end, as the climax has ended. However...You can still feel the hint of resentment/revenge impending.
The power in his voice is absolutely astonishing...
I don't even watch game of thrones and this I think is my favorite song you've done
😱😱😱😱😱😱 Thank you so so so much
@@PeterHollensI still prefer hands of Gold!
@@PeterHollens Could you do a LotR vs. GoT music video? Please
@@realBlueMoonMusic That is a great idea!!!! 🤔🤔🤔🤔 My mind is racing now!
@@davido.1233 That one is a pretty good tune :P
Peter Hollens deserves a cameo way more than Sheeran, too bad we're done now. Maybe in one of those prequel things they're doing?
If he can act maybe as a Lannister of old
that´d be awesome ma man
Ed did the cameo for Masie's birthday, & she loves the guy lol
He could be Lann the Clever in the GoT prequel since it’s set like 5000 years before the events of the actual series
When they remake the show after the books are done (the remake will be called "A Song of Ice and Fire" Peter can have all the musical cameos).
This is absolutely haunting love!!!!
I felt this in my bones... literally
Daaaaamn. This song gave me a warm feeling in my heart. Like this is the cautionary song sung in the North so no one forgets the horrors the Frays and the Lannisters are capable of.
Or the song whichever Stark survives sings to their children at night.
Or all of the above. ;)
I love your bard style songs! I can just imagine listening to them in a tavern and hearing all about the kings and queens of the lands.
"The North will remember" she thought "And they'll have all your skins"
Que Arya killing house Frey while wearing their skin (face). "Tell them, the North remembers. Tell them, Winter came for house Frey."
Coming back for about the fiftieth time on this one - you know, there are places in here where I could have sworn I heard strings. But it's all you. Shaking my head at how wonderful it is.
Valar Morghulis, This just makes me so excited for season 8, you've made my night.🦁🐉🐺,

I don't even watch GoT, but I keep returning to listen to this, because it's so incredible! This song gives me all kinds of emotions for the characters, even not knowing them. XD
Same!
Yes! Finally a different Game of Thrones track! The consistent high quality of you content is baffling, considering all the things you do beside recording. Your voice work is as always top notch. Thank you for all the goosebumps.
Thank you so much Kilde!! It is a team effort but they are the best and you all suggest some amazing content! ❤️
That episode in particular does and always will remind me of the Glencoe massacre in Scottish history. And yes, the North does remember. So tragic that real life weaves its way so seamlessly into our fantasy, just as cruel, bloody and unforgiving.
So beautiful even the Night King applauded with that creepy smile of his from the long night episode.
BEST. COVER. EVER!!!
And the timbers groaned, river wind softly moaned. For The King in The North soon will know how a Red Wedding goes!
Great game of thrones song also I notice on 3:05 that Peter's eyecolors were showing brighter and it looked awesome
Am I actually the Night King?! :P
@@PeterHollens lol good question
That was beautiful. I could totally see it being sung in some northern tavern in Westeros.
You should do the song Jenny of oldstone that podrick sang from season 8 episode 2 of game of thrones
Ben Jackson he just did
You wish, Peter delivers! :)
Holy cow!!! With each refrain you crescendoed and decrescendoed perfectly!!!! Amazing job, as always
And the timbers groaned made me cry ;(

Every time I think of stopping singing I just watch a Peter Hollens video and I realize that I need to keep trying to get to this level. Never stop.
in rewatching this video, I don't understand how Peter can sing in such a high voice(for tenors) and put such emotion and power in this song. By far one of my favourite songs Peter has sung.
I love the golden sunlight in this video
“When i was a girl, i was foolish. I couldn’t tell the difference between a raw chicken and a raw duck. But everything changed. My family, my life, my home. All of it gone. Im no longer a girl, nor am i a lady. I am Arya Stark. I’ve killed many people in my time alone - don’t make me add you to my list.”
The more times I listen to this the more I like it.
Oh my goodness😍 You sound beautiful! I wish I could sing like you!! Love you!
Thank you so much Sarah! It is such a haunting song!!
Peter Hollens it truly is!!! Thanks for being such an inspiration!
I never could stomach watching Game of Thrones. I watched the Red Wedding scene at the suggestion of a friend and couldn't bring myself to watch anything more after that.
All that said, this song gave me indescribable chills. It brought that scene to life in a way the show never could. The author of the song created a beautiful tragedy of a poem and you rendered it with the tongue of an angel. I may not like the show, but this performance alone makes me almost wish I did.
The person who wrote this is as gifted as the man who sings it.
as expected, another beautiful performance, but _these locations_ . Woke up today thinking I might not have the best day today, but thank you for making it better and blessing both my ears and eyes at the same time with this video.I think I just might have a new favourite from you.
Thank you so much my friend!!! The views were so so so amazing. Jimmy absolutely crushed those scenes! ❤️
There has to have been someone in your ancestry that played for the royal courts, cause dang, ...this style, even the look, fits you SO well. I wish I was good at writing, I could totally see you in something like Trans-siberian orchestra, or any kind of renaissance- ey play. You rock :)
he did not write the song.
He just covered the song, the original was on Soundcloud
Chills and feels... what have you don't to me?!?
The locations in this are magical. That forest is calling me ❤
Making me cry EVERY FKING TIME. The North remembers.
I'm already crying and I've only listened to the first thirty seconds... Your voice is simply beautiful!
Thank you so much Nessa! ❤️
@@PeterHollens ❤️
The singing is amazing, but can we also acknowledge the camera work/ video editing for a moment? That golden forest looks so beautiful and inviting and that gorgeous purple sunset and the coast, wow. I love how much work goes into these videos.
This was one of my favorite fan songs, chilling and it cut to the core. It was amazing to hear it sung in this style. Trully amazing.
Ohhhh when you love the song, it turns out like this---exquisite! (They are all exquisite, but this just a teeeeensy bit moreso!) Well, your costumer gets extreme praise, your cinematographer too, and YOU, Peter, oh so much praise for the vocals---love this so much!!!!
First off, the vocals are lovely as always! Secondly, HOLY COW THAT LIGHTING IS SO GOOD!! Gosh that is some great cinematography right there❤
Thank you so much Tayler!! I will pass on those kind words to the production team ❤️
Great job, Peter! You are amazing singer, and have great vocal range, that is one in million! Keep doing your thing..
I don’t even watch Game of Thrones but words can’t describe how much I love this and how powerful it is. As always, an amazing job! ❤️
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this, you have such a beautiful sensitive voice and put a great deal of feeling into your songs
So, I've never watched Game of Thrones and I don't intend to. But I do have to say, that all the music you sing from it is simply beautiful.
"So, I've never watched Game of Thrones and I don't intend to" NOBODY CARES! YOU'RE NOT SPECIAL!
@@Cthulhoop who said that he was? When you don't watch something sometimes its harder to like a song
@@Cthulhoop NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK! YOU'RE NOT SPECIAL!
@Trsscar - I'm glad you enjoyed this song even though you don't watch the show!!
@Cthulhoop - Lets be nice to one another! ❤️ They were just setting some context for their comment :)
@William - Yes my friend!!! It is hard to get into a song if you haven't watched a show - totally feel that.
@valiantstudios - Kindness wins!!! No harm, no foul my friends!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You're missing out!!!
This song is no regular song. I can’t begin to describe the intensity and insipire this provokes. So good!
I think I've heard this a thousand times now, and I sometimes have it on loop while writing. I can barely put into words what you manage with this song, but it's at the very top of my all-time favorite songs (by you). You have an amazing voice, and you're wildly talented at bringing music to life in more ways than one.
I want to thank you. I am running a Homebrew D&D game and was running out of ideas. This song gave me the inspiration I needed for my next campaign. My world has a rich history and I'm going to make use of it setting the next campaign 2,000 years earlier when the two major elven kingdom were still in a state of open hostilities, but not outright war. One of those kingdoms is a northern kingdom of snow elves locked in an eternal winter called the Frostfell. The other is called Neverwinter (it's a long story)
I've been marathoning the series in preparation for the finale season and this song gave me goosebumps.
YESSSSS!!! I have to take breaks every time I have tried to marathon it!
@@PeterHollens The new season is going to be EPIC!!
Am I only one who is getting tears in eyes😭😍
I never watched game of thrones but you sing this song so beautiful
Appreciate that so much Kyla!
Oh. My. Gosh.
For several weeks I`ve read a Red Wedding thread from one forum - and here you are in my RUclips recommendations. And oh my, chills.
I really, really want the GoT cast to react to this
Oh, man. This song is FANTASTIC. It is a masterpiece in terms of lyrics and his singing is superb. I really liked the video too but the lyrics and the vocals were out of this world, i just want everyone to listen to this.

My favorite youtuber/singer singing my favorite GoT song....
My life is complete.
"the deadliest song" just because the "most prettiest song" @-@ this is amazing
I just watched this episode for the first time and even though I knew what was going to happen because of this song I cried my eyes out.
@Peter, you weren't kidding..."deadliest" on many different levels!!! There's nothing you've done I don't like. But as things go, we all have favorites, and this just became one of mine! "Haunting" is too mild a word I think, but can't come up with a better one right now. You did GoT justice here dude!!! If the producers were smart they'd figure out a way to get this edited into the final season soundtrack somehow, some way. It belongs!!!!!!
One of the saddest songs ive come across you have done an excellent job with the song
Emotional, haunting, and very moving. You painted all those emotions beautifully into your singing and I’m in awe! I even got teary eyed listening to you sing how the Red Wedding went down along with the vivid scenes from the show in my mind, I was all goosebumps. Thank you for posting this and just in time too with the final season of GOT right around the corner!
I love your interpretations, you are amazing so many emotions together at the same time, thanks for giving us a little of your time. ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Agreed! Peter Hollens was the one who got me into Acapella many a years ago.
Thank YOU both for the kind words!! ❤️I should be thanking you for taking the time to watch it :))) Appreciate ya both! ❤️
HOW COULD ANYONE NOT LOVE THIS?!?!??!?!? It's strong and passionate, with some darkness!! Remember the "Red Wedding" #TheNorthRemembers #KingInTheNorth
This is GORGEOUS Peter... Counting down the days 'til April 14th, amirite?? ❤️❤️❤️
I remember listening this song like 4 years ago. I am happy that you made a cover of this. Love you Peter ❤️.
I got chills!!
OMG You absolutely CRUSHED THIS!!! Soooo good!! I love when you go dark. Where's that play button again!
The feelings I've buried all these years regarding what happened during the red wedding have resurfaced after just watching the video and listening to it once. I honestly feel empty again.
“And they’ll have all your skins”
I mean...you’re pretty right about that
Wow... Channeling a true bard. I salute thee master of words and voices and sounds and stories
Peter NOOOOO! It’s still too soon. I had to immediately watch Aria destroy house Frey after watching this. Amazing as always.
I love how much emotion you bring to the song. I have never watched game of thrones but after that, I feel like I have actually been in the whole story all along.
Your performance and arrangement complemented those chilling words so well
This is absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking.
What a beautiful song. You sing it so well, as usual!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, it's official! Between this and "Hands of Gold," you've convinced me to start watching Game of Thrones. It'll be my summer binge!
Yesssss!!! Fair warning that it does get pretty graphic in some places!!
I neither read the books nor watch the show, but this was powerful. Well done, Peter. If I could have anyone sing songs for my books, I'd choose you.
I don't know the GoT story either, but WOW, this song is one of Peter's all time best. It gives me chills even without knowing the story behind it. This song is gorgeously written, too. Beautiful in a tragic, chilling way.
This is an amazing prelude to lady stoneheart, even if you haven't read the books
Man, I've seen the red wedding. This song captures it perfectly. The feeling of betrayel and the promise of revenge. Winter will come for house lanister, as it has come for house Frey and house Bolton.
Now I've got a new song to hear in a continous loop.
Everytime I hear it I get goose pimples... well done!
I'm glad that I was able support you with writing a subtitle :)
The sound y'all are hearing is me breaking the replay button because this subject of House Tully knows no King in the North except whose name is STARK!
RIP Young 🐺!
*SCREAMS* OMG I am completely speechless in awe on this.
Such a beautiful Song, made me cry!!! And loved the places you choose for the song as well.
Thank you so much!!!!
So glad to see this amazing song get some recognition! When I first found it, I couldn't believe it wasn't something from the show. Absolutely hauntingly beautiful. You really did it more than justice.
Stunning, absolutely stunning. Loved this song and your performance. Would be cool to see you do a collab on this with someone with a deep voice. Your voice when backed up with the grounding power of a proper bass really shines. Just a suggestion.
I've listened to this on repeat and I'm shoving it at everyone I know that watches GOT. AMAZING!
How did this video make me cry more than when I saw the actual red wedding?!
One word..... stunning. You can really feel the emotion and sadness and anger and fear in the way you told the tale, an amazing performance from you Peter and I would say probably one of your best performances so far. Well done you!! Xx
I didn't know this one before! :O When I read "deadliest GoT song", I was first thinking of "Light of the Seven", so I was surprised... pleasantly surprised. Wonderful. This whispering in the back ground in some parts... whoa, amazing. Thank you for doing that, Peter! Hugs from Germany.
I’m very glad I came upon Peter’s channel recently. Every song that is sung is just great and he puts a lot of effort in his work. Never knew I would enjoy listening to music so much
Holy mackerel, that was awesome! I haven't watched GoT but boy am I loving the music. Might be an incentive to watch it. Such a beautiful voice, I applaud! *clapping*
OH MY...THRONES!!! I'm near speechless right now... where do I start? I absolutely love you @Peterhollins you're so talented but out of all your songs and videos.... this is by far my favorite. I just watched this three times. I could picture every scene of the episode in my head and I actually felt the emotions. I'm going to add this in my Spotify as well now but thank you so much for this unforgettable moment and song. The last four years of my life (when I discovered your channel) have made my life so much better!! So much more fun, admiration, joy, and emotion! I'm constantly telling my friends about you and your talent amazes me!! Such a beautiful, soulful, powerful voice!!
Thank you, and I wish you and your family the very best in life! P.S. you should totally do more songs like this about GoT or any popular fandom really! Have a good day!
I don’t watch game of thrones but Lord this is enchanting! Your voice is truly a marvel to listen to.
