@@TheMeta141 I'll always believe that he went to King's Landing to stop her. Because Sansa had just told him that Cersei had killed a dragon and that she was winning. But when he went there, there was nothing to stop cause Dany had already done it. It was similar to Arya who went there to kill Cersei but Dany had already done the damage.

"So much I have lost and so much I resent. My spite became the steps upon the stairway of descent". This is one of many examples why I love your poetry, Gavin. And always remember your name when asked about my favourite contemporary poets. Your lyrics does not simply refer to one character or one particular film, game etc. It is genuinely human and has a genuine appeal to all the people, to humanity, because it deals with everlasting problems of life and death, good and evil, human fate, choice, liberty, justice... When I listen to your songs I feel that they appeal to me. And it is me whose spite led do desent, not someone else to blame. Thank you so much! May you always stay in good health and may your inspiration guide you in the path you've chosen. And great thanks to Karliene, her voice is beautiful!
Personally, I need to find me a blond dance partner who's not too terribly tall so I can choreograph a violent and passionate pas de deux to this! Seeking short, blond ballet boys!!!
What I find more amazing than anything else in this song, is that sweet tune of guitar, right at the beginning, that makes you immediately realize that its game of thrones. "When winter comes", "Halfman's song", "Mother of flames", "When the wolves cry out" and "No one". Every last one of them had this theme at the beginning of their song, so similar and yet so different, like a good story told multiple times but with slight differences that makes you appreciate each one in a different way. Another piece of masterwork for the ages. One that you and Karliene can be very proud of. Hope that you still have more insiration in store for one or two song about the game of thrones universe. Maybe something like "From summer child to winter queen" or "Broken king". I think its the closure that we all really need for this fantastic show.
Carrying my Patreon message over here. No matter how we may feel about the final season of GoT, we can rest assured that Gav will always bring us quality music based on that content, with meaningful and deep lyrics that, to quote someone else, "digs into the essence of the characters." And just like many of your recent songs, even outside of GoT's context, the song and its lyrics firmly stand on their own. Keep up the good work, and thank you for blessing us with your art once more.
"Let the world shatter into dust Nothing else matters, only us" God, that is art of this eorld "Let it all burn around us Let the cruel consume the just Let the sins we swim in drown us" There are no words that can describe my love for your songs. Thank you for new music world you brought to us, Gav!
"My spite became the steps upon the stairway of descent" The lyrics, the music, the editing and chosen scenes.. all are so perfect. exactly how they felt about each other. "I'm no man of honour, my guilt runs dark and deep" i do hope Jaime in the books takes a different path though. His honour is still there, contrary to what he believes. it's Cersei that's corrupting him, the mindset of 'only us' that's keeping him from being someone he can be proud of.
Honestly I'm really glad you actually understood Jaime's character. Even if the show really rushed his story, it was the only way for it to end. Jaime was truly in love with Cersei despite everything, and you really showed how Jaime always felt trapped by promises, when all he ever wanted in life was for him to be able to settle down with the one he loved and have a normal life
Gavin understood those characters SO MUCH, it's just perfect. We have all in this song. What they've benn through, what they feel, the constant drama of their doomed relationship... Somehow he managed to make the unsatiesfying end less empty. All my respect, ser Gavin, you are a true artist.
I just imagine a scene of a musical theatre on this song, the two actors singing in the middle of the stage with the set of a city in fire in the backround, will be perfect.

Ah, don’t you just love it when families take on each other’s traditions? The blackwoods and the Brackens. The Starks and the Baratheons. The Lannisters and the Targaryens...
This song did something incredible. It made me reconsider my opinion on Jaime's ending xD The singer featuring in this is very, very talented, she has an amazing voice.
The show didn't do any development that would have made this relapse of Jamie's make sense. Season 8 was just in too much of a hurry to get to the end of the race, it didn't bother to build UP to the ending.
yea this female singer Karliene is amazing, she has done other GoT songs before, as long as other shows and movies. there's one I like very much called Dornishman's Wife based upon the song that Bronn sang
The Lannister children are the most fascinating part of A song of Ice and Fire. In the books, you can clearly see how they could have all been better people under different circumstances. Directly or indirectly, Tywin is the catalyst that turns minor character flaws into deeply flawed characters.
@@EivindHillesund yea its kinda sad... in tywins attempt to keep his house great he almost destroyed it, and ironicly the one welp left standing is the one he despised the most

Fantastic music, fantastic voices! I think Cersei's and Jaime's death was the saddest moment in the series, especially when Tyrion was crying over their dead bodies.
I was curious and watched it. It was three weeks ago. Now, after maybe 20th replay I keep watching it and I fall deeper into it. I can't get enough of it. The lyrics are perfect for Cersei and Jaime and tells their story and shows what they've been through. I even feel sympathy towards Cersei while watching and listening to this. Such a beautiful song. Thank you for these feelings. I shed my tears to this piece of art.

@@Matakshaman Well, I'm not going to argue that point here; but even if they could have done well but just didn't, that still means they were bad at their job. The theoretical ability is much less relevant than the practical achievement.
This is truly amazing. Watching Lancel Lannister attempt to stop the flames always gives me chills inside. I loved Margery Tyrell, and wish she didn't die, although, I think it came at the right time.
My personal interpretation of Jaime's abrupt turn back to caring about her sister above everyone else is that Jaime never could quite forget or forgive his vile deeds. He thus felt "dying with Cersei" is the only script left for him.
I find it more about the depth of his love to Cersei. He for the first time had a free choice to take. And the thought of her possibly dying there was the most painful. He's done so many vile things for Cersei, which speaks to the depth of their love. Even if she might not have loved him as much, he loved her like he had, nobody else. In the end, they died together like they were born, which is poetic, I must say.
That's actually a pretty cool take on the conclusion to his character arc. Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain you put more thought into this than the writers did.
@@anneehka7863 how so? by hugging her? I watched a video critiquing the episode, and he mentions that Tyrion must be sad because Jamie and Cersei could have lived if only they stood 15 ft over since when Tyrion found them there were clear areas where the rubble didn't fall.

I translated this song into Russian, I hope you don't mind. Cannot stop listening to it XD

Did you just turn two unsatisfying character's arc's endings into a damn good song? That's some Midas touch, right there.
Their end was fitting.
@@jessel3621 They got crushed by some rocks, should have gotten bloodier, more terrible deaths. Especially considering that they're both Kingslayers and Kinslayers and in all fairness the gods should be throwing their wrath down on these two terrible people.
@@99xplord The entire goddamn point of Jaime's story is that those oaths don't matter.
@@eliburry-schnepp6012 don't know if that's strictly true, he did originally have aspirations to be a honorable knight, and he intended to keep his oath to Catelyn Stark, hell they named Brienne's sword Oathkeeper.
@@99xplord Yeah, those personal, moral oaths. But not the vague ones of loyalty and duty and such.
Is it just me that this song actually helps with the ending? especially Cersei and Jamies end?
The arcs themselves are good, the delivery is botched and the main twist is so horrendously underjustified that it sullies everything else. I actually think that Jamie's arc holds up even just with what's shown, but Ep5 didn't feel that way.
it helps show that even after everything that's happened Jaime still can't give up Cersei even if it kills him, he loves her and tries to save her
@@TheMeta141 on the show at least, on the books he is actually showing character development
@@TheMeta141 I'll always believe that he went to King's Landing to stop her. Because Sansa had just told him that Cersei had killed a dragon and that she was winning. But when he went there, there was nothing to stop cause Dany had already done it. So he continued on his mission to go toward Cersei and when he saw her all helpless, he wanted to be with her and protect her. It was similar to Arya who went there to kill Cersei but Dany had already done the damage.

D&D: „Let the plot burn down around us,

I swear the first lyrical sentence made me think you were talking about Dungeons and Dragons... and it still fits.

Amazing song

WOW. I literally cried. This song is just fabulous, and so is Lannisters' story.
A brilliant composition. Captures the disdain, love and romance of the doomed Lannister twins...

Honestly I'm really glad you actually understood Jaime's character. Even if the show really rushed his story, it was the only way for it to end. Hello, another fan of D&D!
This is truly amazing. Watching Lancel Lannister attempt to stop the flames always gives me chills inside. I loved Margery Tyrell, and wish she didn't die, although, I think it came at the right time.
Love how the woman playing Cersei emphasizes her S’s, it makes her sound vaguely snake like. Totally fits her dangerous character
I'm not an eccentric but I really love this couple , and their death with some was very romantic ❤
