I have type 1 narcolepsy, and I totally feel you Gimz. Not being able to stay awake during the day and constantly feeling tired is so hard man. But with medication, a consistent sleep schedule, and the right amount of activity during the day it can be managed! Neither of us will probably ever have a completely "normal" life or level of functionality during the day, but we can definitely both make the best out of the hand we're dealt! Sending love your way! You got this!
Welcome back! Sleep apnea is rough amongst other things going on in one's life. I agree with you that the fact that you were able to accomplish what you aimed for even while having sleep apnea and narcolepsy. I hope your sleep can improve, and I'm glad you're finding things that are helping improve your health and condition. Hang in there and hope to see more of your content at a pace that works for you because health comes first.
Dude I genuinely hope everything continues to improve man. Health first then everything else. Been watching your stuff for years now and need you back at 100%.
Glad you finally got diagnosed properly. Didn’t need to hear anything after you mentioned narcolepsy, that shit’s debilitating. Props for everything you’ve done in spite of it, and I hope things go uphill from here now that you can tackle it more effectively. Maybe if you’re lucky, they’ll start up some more narcolepsy clinical trials sometime that you might be able to participate in.
I'm really impressed with how well you explained the health issues you're dealing with. As someone who has a hard time putting the effects of their ADHD into words, I admire how you can explain even more complex disorders in a concise, understandable way. Stay healthy good man.
Man, while you were talking about sleep, I just got gripped in because I'm also diagnosed with adhd anxiety and bipolor. I've never met anyone irl with these same issues. This sucks because NO ONE understands. People just think im lazy but it doesnt help that im a perfectionist who always wants to top themselves and if I can't do that then why bother in the first place. I think the worst for me is my sleep schedule. I think its mostly stress from me being the only one staying behind for college and going the community college route to save money. All my friends are gone. I understand and its so frustrating because I want to just go out and make friends but i have no energy to. I cant even sit up for more than like 2 or 3 hours in a day so i just end up laying down again and that is starting to hurt my back. I haven't found anyone else that understood exactly what i was going through. I graduated 2023 and all I have is my gf and she will be gone to leave for college come this next summer bc she is 2024. I have made 0 friends bc everyone is a quiet highschooler doing a running start program.
Hey Chris! I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I highly suggest you add a few things to your daily schedule that you force yourself to do as the only things you HAVE to do every day. 1. Go outside when the sun is out for a 30 minute walk, it’s important that the sun is hitting your skin. 2. Shower every day and when you’re done turn the water to cold and let it hit your head, neck, upper back, chest and under your arm pits for about a minute. 3. 3 sets of push-ups (start with 10 but move up to 15) with about 30 seconds of rest in between. Only takes 45m total (including the 30m walk). Within a week you’ll start feeling a little better. In 2 weeks you’ll notice less brain fog and within a month you’ll find yourself have way less times where you’re super tired. It isn’t perfect, and some days will be harder than others, but if you can be consistent with these things it can change your life, and it only costs 45 minutes a day.
@GimR I'll have to try this, you also inspired me to see a sleep therapist to make sure I don't have any other bad habits. Thanks for the tips and I wish you great success on your journey!
You're amazing. I've respected what you've created ever since I've been a part of this community (a decade now ig). I'd see you at majors sometimes always hard at work. Really sorry you're going through chronic illnesses that sound so frustrating. Hearing you talk about the kinds of things you want to accomplish in this video... it's like even in nerfed form you're probably more productive than the avg person!
Ty for your support, I appreciate it! I have very high standards so I still feel very far away. Plus, you’d be surprised how much you can get done in one hour if you focus and don’t get distracted. I just want to be able to do 8 hours of that a day lol
Hey Destro! So sorry you’re going through this as well brother. We just gotta keep the negative voices in our heads at bay and put one foot in front of the other!
Props for the strength and resilience it takes to deal with those things. I'm an older skateboarder so deal with a lot of past injuries and similar problems to you with adhd, struggling with sleep and energy etc. Your sling shot tech still pays off, it gave me something to focus on at the time, training it into my thumbs. I owe you my first character into elite, the final blow was a slingshot fast fall bair with cloud over a Lucas pk fire. It felt so good! I wonder if you've tried the herbal teas, I'm not as hot on it as I should be, but there have been a lot that help with my general mood, energy levels, ability to sleep and even respiratory problems. Best of luck, you can't go wrong if you do what you enjoy, and you don't owe us any more tech. You've constantly one-upped yourself and not a lot of people can say that. Shine on bro
Hey Daryl! Wow, it’s amazing to hear that something like my video helped you in your time if need, I really appreciate you opening up to me. Do you have any specific teas you recommend? Always down to try them out!
There's a few ways to make banana tea quite easily, that has a nice muscle relaxing effect. Mullein is great for respiration and catching your first real breath in the day. There's some classics too like camomile which people like to have before bed. Look up foods with theanine in them for healthy sleep. And also St John's wort as a herbal supplement or tea is known to help with mood. I find it gives me a little inner smile and keeps the shadows away. I hope my tech helps you 🤞😊
You know I feel like the times that I saw you in person I noticed something about this (a family member has narcolepsy) and worried about it. Despite that you were still fun to be around. I'm really glad to hear from you despite what you're going through and you should certainly be proud of yourself. You do a lot for a lot of people no matter the scale. You do you and we'll still be with you.
While I don't have exactly what you have, its inspiring to see someone I consider accomplished power through a health issue like that. A couple years ago I got covid, a couple months after than I had to get a somewhat extensive surgery for some lung stuff. When I woke up everything tasted like rotten flesh, turns out it was a condition called parosmia which is a delayed side-effect of covid. Over the next couple months, I started to experience some of the symptoms you were describing (also a delayed effect of covid). Lack of energy, brain fog, stuff like that. I know first hand how depressing and demottivating conditions like this are and its inspiring seeing how you are dealing with it. Best of luck.
Ty man! I really hope you’re able to sort it out yourself! Some days are better than others but we just gotta be strong and not let the negative thoughts take over on the bad ones.
Glad you're on the up and up brother. Glad you're focusing on your health too. Really proud of what you've accomplished against the odds you were facing, super impressive. Do what's best for you and i'll always support you!
Hey Mike! So good to hear from you dude! And thank you for your kind words! Hope you’re doing well yourself!! Next time im on West Coast we gotta hang out
Gimr being like "ill be honest, guys. I dont have any emergy to begin with." Also gimr: "lets binge that whole game lol" Gotta love him for that commitment
Glad to hear you’re doing ok. It’s crazy because I didn’t even know what sleep narcolepsy was and yet I’ve been having sleep attacks everyday around 2:00 as well!
Definitely consider getting a sleep study but review the hell out of the place first. I have not been happy with multiple doctors, gotta make sure the place is too notch
Glad you talked about the particulars of your health. Of course no one should feel obligated to share that kind of information but when people do voluntarily it helps others understand and better empathize with those dealing with such things. Look forward to watching whatever fun you decide to make for us!

For a good year or two I wouldn’t have been able to do something like that, so it felt really satisfying to be able to be there volunteering
Between Xanadu & VGBC, events, working on your health, there’s a lot for you to be proud of, and I’m glad your focus is on just whatever you’ll enjoy putting out most, take care ✌️
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words!
We love u GimR. This year has been rough for me too. So I felt this. Do what makes u happy and healthy.
I hope things look up for you in the future.
You've accomplished plenty and more than me at 34. rest up my guy. We appreciate you
Ty,
Our favorite bald smasher is back
I'm glad to see you're giving some time to yourself. Best of luck for the future, GimR!
take all the time in the world, its good to see you, and im happy that you are doing better! keep it up king!
GimR it is so wonderful to see you back! Sharing your experience with narcolepsy reminds me of my struggles with ADHD/Depression, energy levels almost always feel so low. Med regulation has helped me a lot, hopefully you have been getting good treatment! We're all rooting for you GimR, glad to have you back! :)
Ty Dibble! I was on adderall for my adhd but stopped because of how much it affected my mood / appetite. Trying to find an approach that focuses on the cause and not the symptoms but it’s been rough
So glad to hear from you! I will literally watch most anything even if it isn’t smash related, smash is in a valley right now anyway. I really have hope that you will overcome your illness, keep fighting! I look forward to joining your stream Saturday ❤
Ty, and see you then Valkoln!
Sorry to hear youre going through that GImr! We all care about you and your well-being so do whatever prioritizes it! You'll always be my youtuber crush 💖

Do what you love man. Life's too short not to.
Best of luck with your health regimens, I hope you find more ways of dealing with your struggles and to help fuel your passions.
Will ALWAYS be sticking around as a viewer, excited for your Street Fighter side of things and will have a blast watching the rest. Thanks for everything you do
Ty Shrike! Appreciate the love!
Hell yeah man, wishing you all the best
Glad your back!
wishing you the best
Sorry about what you went through in regards to your health, but I’m glad to hear you’re doing better! I’m all about that Super Mario Bros. Wonder life. Won’t be there to your stream or any stream since I want to experience the game for myself, but I will absolutely tune into whatever content you got cookin’ for it after my initial playthrough.
I tapped the GIMR notification entirely too fast
Nothing makes me happier than content creators do what they want. Especially knowing your background, I love hearing about your plans for Wonder. That's gonna be so sick dude.
Progress sounds amazing! Truly inspiring stuff. Stick with it and make yourself proud!
Looking forward to Wonder as well!
Damn you never know when someone's going through it. Hang in there, glad to hear you're improving
Great to see that you’re looking out for yourself and doing what you want to do. Appreciate you and hope you find happiness ❤️🔥
Hey Austin! Thank you for your encouraging words! We got this!!!
Appreciate your kind words!
Appreciate your kind words!
Wow went through the same thing. Good video explaining what it’s like.
Ty! Yeah, unfortunately no cure yet so I’m hoping I can manage it until they figure it out!
I'm really impressed with how well you explained the health issues you're dealing with. As someone who has a hard time putting the effects of their ADHD into words, I admire how you can explain even more complex disorders in a concise, understandable way. Stay healthy good man.
Haha, well, I’ve vented about it so much in private it’s probably just coming to me a bit more naturally
Much love Gimr. Wishing you the best on your continued betterment of your health physically and mentally.
Ty!
Appreciate you and your work sir
We all love you GimR. No one slips us the deets like you do.
Glad you're back! ❤
I’m sorry those issues sound really hard.
Back to the lab with him.
Hope you keep feeling better.
Back to the lab with him.
I also have type 2 narcolepsy. it has made life extremely hard. I hope you continue to give updates and how you're dealing with it. Best of luck
I hope my tech helps you 🤞😊
I use the slingshot everytime I play smash now
That’s sick!
Ty Twitch! I appreciate your kind words.
Glad you’re feeling better GimR!
Next time im on West Coast we gotta hang out
@@GimR hell yeah! Let’s do it!
Gimr being like "ill be honest, guys. I dont have any emergy to begin with."
Also gimr: "lets binge that whole game lol"
Gotta love him for that commitment
I'm hoping it's 10 hours top LOL
You can fight this man, stay strong 💪
Right on man, happy to hear you're okay
Glad to hear you’re doing ok. It’s crazy because I didn’t even know what sleep narcolepsy was and yet I’ve been having sleep attacks everyday around 2:00 as well!
Definitely consider getting a sleep study but review the hell out of the place first. I have not been happy with multiple doctors, gotta make sure the place is too notch
Glad you talked about the particulars of your health. Of course no one should feel obligated to share that kind of information but when people do voluntarily it helps others understand and better empathize with those dealing with such things. Look forward to watching whatever fun you decide to make for us!
it might also save ppl with similar problems from having their symptoms pathologized
It's great to have you back, Mr. GimR! Great to know that my (Smash 4) G&W idol is feeling a lot better, and can't wait to see what goodies you have in store for us 😀
Hey Andy, it’s been a while! Ty for your kind words and support!
The legend returns
Really glad that you've gotten some answers about your health and are doing what you need to do :)
Ty Pidge!
Bro I wish the best for you! ❤
Best wishes. Keep taking care of yourself.
Sounds really rough, good luck with that man. Hope it improves.
You could upload a 2 minute video showcasing tech from like 2007 and we'd still watch tbh
Blast from the past, but a nice one.
And wow, thanks for informing me about narcolepsy… I can’t imagine. Had my own health issues that are similarly exhausting (addiction, depression, anxiety) and I really empathize, man.
Also very impressive the amount you’ve been able to do.
ty Krusher!
