By far you are the smartest guy showing how easy this job is Thank you . I can not say the same for the cat over at OPR who was removeing way to many components than necessary thanks guy I don't think so remove the brake caliper remove the knuckle no lets do 10 times more work the only knuckle that needs to removed is you duh knuckle head.
Question , after I did exactly what you did would I have to take my truck to get a wheel alignment or am I good just driving it after replacing the control arm ?
Thx a TON TRQ! My drivers side boot around the ball joint was torn and starting to get hazardous. Installed today, off for alignment tomorrow! I’ll have my mechanic double check my torque tightness too just to be good.
I was always told to have the weight of the vehicle ON BEFORE torqueing the lower control arm bolt to 315...this was not apparent in the video..correct me if Im wrong
What do you if your top strut nut is just spinning while you try to loosen it? I tried gripping the piston below with some channel locks but it still just spins. Im trying to finish this today since I have to be at work on Monday so any help is greatly appreciated.
Great video very well done I love how you give the torque specs for each bolt but I didn't catch the torque spec for the nuts holding the top of the strut assembly I think you missed that one.
Anyone have thoughts on him tightening the upper control arm bolts before letting the weight sit on it? Is eyeballing it so that it's pretty much level with the ground good enough? Certainly would be easier to tighten it before putting the strut back in
At 4:38 he gives incorrect procedure. Do not make control arm parallel to the ground. Instead, let it hang, install the upper control arm bolts and snug them down. Then, put everything back together and torque. When it comes time to install the strut nut don't torque it, only snug it. So, at this point everything is back together and torqued except the upper control arm bolts and the strut bolt. In order to torque these three bolts,. place a jack stand under the lower ball joint, lower the vehicle and let the vehicle weight rest on the jack stand. Now you can torque the upper control arm bolts and the strut bolt. Using his method will result in very noisy upper control arm bushings and ruin them in no time at all. Following his faulty instructions, my upper control arm bushings were ruined after a couple of weeks.

Why can't all videos about working on vehicles be like this, great job, saving for later
Thank you for this video . I replaced the upper control arms and struts and it went flawlessly. Keep the videos coming
What is the torque on the 3 top nuts on strut?
This has to be the best straight forward video on RUclips..good job sir and thank you 🙏
I wish it was that easy, lol. Your 15 min was my 2 hours lol
Lol I’m getting ready to do this and Was that with just you or with a buddy

For those wondering, same process for 4wd models. Axle doesnt have to come out
Question , after I did exactly what you did would I have to take my truck to get a wheel alignment or am I good just driving it after replacing the control arm ?
+Z Ab It is always recommended to get an alignment after replacing any suspension parts.
So what if I don’t use copper anti seize? And what if I use the sliver one instead?
Holy rust !
+David W. Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Lol
Looks like they got a new shock, tie rod, and a control arm.
Rust "Pure Michigan" I live in Michigan this state destroys vehicles!
Thx a TON TRQ! My drivers side boot around the ball joint was torn and starting to get hazardous. Installed today, off for alignment tomorrow! I’ll have my mechanic double check my torque tightness too just to be good.
+Christopher Caldwell Thanks for watching our video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Great video! I'm guessing that truck spent most of its life up north. Serious rust problem. 😳
+Keith Duclos Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Great explanation. Great video. Will watch more of your videos.
Great, great vidéo, thank you!
Do you have to remove the strut?
Very thankful for these videos.
These videos are so damn good.
Looks like the torque wrench showed 35LBS for the upper strut bolts.
Awesome video I just replace the structs on my 2007 ford f150 stx
I was always told to have the weight of the vehicle ON BEFORE torqueing the lower control arm bolt to 315...this was not apparent in the video..correct me if Im wrong
Throughout this video I’ve had to run to the hardware store several times to get this done 😂
Best videos ever
Do you need to do an alignment after replacing the arms?
+Camaro Jay It is good to check your alignment afterwards
What do you torque the 3 top strut nuts to?
35 foot pounds
Great job thanks'
What do you if your top strut nut is just spinning while you try to loosen it? I tried gripping the piston below with some channel locks but it still just spins. Im trying to finish this today since I have to be at work on Monday so any help is greatly appreciated.
Will this be any different on a 4wd model
There's no front axle to deal with, which makes shock removal a bit easier.
Excellent Thank You.
How much torque is needed on the upper strut bolts?
The top strut nuts are spinning with the bolt on the strut. Stuck like Chuck right now because I can't bust the nut loose.
That was great video. Just what I needed thanks
Thanks for the video , straight forward
Great video
Do I need an impact for this or can it all be done with a ratchet?
Very good bideo thanks
Great job!
Is this 2 wheel drive ?
It's a great video but you never gave the torque specs on the top three nuts for the strut
Great video very well done I love how you give the torque specs for each bolt but I didn't catch the torque spec for the nuts holding the top of the strut assembly I think you missed that one.
Right
I believe the torque spec for those bolts is 35 ft lbs.
Do I need to preload before torquing the control arm?
That's a great video 👍
The amount of rust on that truck is insane
How many hours of work for do this job
Only difference I would have done was thread lock after bolt in. Never seize before but the lock could just come off in bushing
Forgot the top shock torque lbs.. if you could plz let us know
In another video is said 35 ft lbs
Your awesome
How long should it take a mechanic to do this job? A shop quoted me for 2hrs labor.
2 hours of labor is exactly how long it takes
+Dj salty nuts Thanks for the tip!
Can I use 4wd control arms on a 2wd ?
Anyone have thoughts on him tightening the upper control arm bolts before letting the weight sit on it? Is eyeballing it so that it's pretty much level with the ground good enough? Certainly would be easier to tighten it before putting the strut back in
I too noticed this, im a huge advocate of preloading suspension.
Fácil y rápido 😃👌

Where was the axle??
2wd maybe?
my 04 looks nothing like this
Wish I could this to my veracurl
Do I need to buy the arm or can I just buy the ball joint? Sorry I'm new to this 😅
+SenpaiiMax You can just buy the ball joints instead of the control arms.
You have to press the ball joint out and in, which is quite sketchy without a safe press (caged) to operate.
You forgot to add the 30ml socket on the tool list
Don't forget to get you a alignment
So WTF I never seen the cv axel the entire time, what a gravy job without having to deal with that.
