Thanks for all of the support of this new project, I love SAUCE and this is my FAVORITE!!!
You do you, of course, but bringing your own sauce to a restaurant is something I find strange at best and this definitely doesn't make me want to try this. I'm assuming you'll at least have checked with the restaurant, but even then, it would have been difficult for them to say no, given that this is advertisement for them. But just imagine doing this at a fine dining place.
Can you plz share is it possible to make algae taste like meat?
Is there taste test video of the steak sauce? Wondering what people describe the flavor as or how much heat there is.
I'm curious I will probably try not steak sauce.
37 grams of protein for 240 calories is pretty insane for a vegan product!
yeah, I mean for any product really... The same weight of chicken only has 3 more grams of protein for far more calories.
Nasoya super firm tofu at Walmart is about the same!
Honestly shocking for meat
For any product really
@@trinodot8112 Almost: 28g of protein (plus 4g of fiber) at 260 calories. Plus, it's gluten-free. Of course, it doesn't taste anything like steak.
When starting this video, I was all fired up to comment “you should have brought your sauce to the restaurant!” Turns out you actually already did so in perfect style and humor. awesome!
Hahaha I had a whole other thing planned at the restaurant but I flubbed it haha 🤣
I'm kind of impressed they got the texture to look like that with what looks like mostly just tofu in the ingredients you called out for the bulk of the mass.
I think it's way too expensive. I just don't miss steak that much I guess LOL
Honestly it's about even with a normal good quality stake at a stake house or something.
I think that it's too expensive for real or fake. I wish them well, though, in hopes of being able to get the price down. In the mean time, this is a great opportunity to get rich people to spend money.
@@crystald3655 -- (*steak)
yeah at this price point, i get the real thing. Should be like 20-30 dollar tops
@@CallMeTonygait was being sold at a fancy steakhouse where regular steaks are being sold for similar prices
omg, that looks deeeeeelicious!! speaking of brisket, you could marinate and cook it with a boatload of black pepper, some ACV, a little mustard, and some good salt to make a corned non-beef....
OMG What an idea!!!! I LOVE THAT.. Im going to try to figure out how to get my hands on a bulk of this to try something like that!
A whole brisket of that would probably cost 1000 dollars
@@emdeejay7432 ikr??!! XD
I have not tried Chunk, but it looks very similar to one we did try and love recently - Juicy Marbles which is available in some grocery stores (we paid $28).
Looks identical.
Damn I just realized how slim you became. You slowly see it, but you just realize it after months or years, especially when you go back and compare, the difference!
He's a skinny legend now. Crazy how the + or - of pounds can really make a diff in how a person looks.
@@specialstar9933 yep, thought about this with plants before they cut their pruning, seeing which slim stick fundament that everything is holding together 😲
@@cloud890 you can see that with all kinds of people, no matter the diet
@@cloud890 you can be very sick with an animal protein diet. Think of MS or cancer. Not saying she is sick, but if she is, maybe the vegan diet is HELPING her with her sickness. Dude think!
Was thinking the same thing. He's looking really slender. One of the best parts of being vegan is eating whatever you want and still lose weight.
Maybe they will start selling it to consumers soon
Hopefully we can push them to start selling it to consumers!!
Geez, I hope.
It might be worth it to them to keep production small and sell it at an exclusive price. Scaling a business isn't always the right choice. But I'd love the chance to try it
Try Juicy Marbles, they sell to consumers and have quick shipping. Their steaks taste identical IMO
Hope so!
SO HAPPY THE SAUCE IS BACK! Just got my 6 bottles in, and fast! Thanks again Mark. The first batch you sold blew my mind and now I'm stocked up on round 2 ❤😊
That’s awesome!!! Thank you so much and I’m so glad you enjoy it!!!!
@@SauceStache Is your sauce organic? If not, please consider it. Also, I prefer buying sauces in glass bottles.
I just looked up Chunk steak! My mouth is watering!! It looks like there's about 10 spots in Florida to grab a Chunk Steak, and I will definitely be trying it. Thank you so much, as always, for sharing your discoveries!
Wow thank you soooo soo much!!! It's really wild, let me know if you try it!!
@@SauceStache I will def share! And will see if I can get my mom on board for vegan eatings.
I LOVE your channel... while I am not vegan, I eat a lot of plant based foods, and have recently started sprouting mung beans, lentils, and broccoli... love the flavor, and the nutritional value is incredible... I thought you might (provided you do not already) want to try sprouting, and incorporate them into your dishes... I guess I am looking for some good ideas lol... btw, Monica, oooo la laaaa...
Yes!! I’ve had Chunk steak at Anixi in NYC, and it was 100% worth the hype!
Yeah this was mind blowing!!!
I was just at Anixi a few weeks ago! LIFE CHANGING. I was torn between that and the Khachapuri (Georgian cheese bread) with the vegan egg on top. Ended up going with the latter, which was divine! As well as the chik'n shishkabob. Everything was absolutely mindblowing. I really want to go back and try the Chunk now!
LOVE anixi
Do you have other recommendations in nyc?
@@SierraP delice & serrasin (i might have spelled it incorrectly). Delicious vegan french cuisine
I had this on Sunday in a restaurant, it was advertised as a vegan steak but little to no other explanation about the steak.
they served it with this thick gravy and tasted to much like meat that I actually was scared they got my order wrong.
And it was a main course for 24 euros here in the Netherlands.
yeah, I couldn't totally see not being 100% sure. I knew what it looked like going in and even seeing it and tasting it in person had me shocked!
24 euros is a super good price!! Thats much more affordable!
@loveletterz Name of the restaurant?
@@bramm8az Aandefonteyn in Dronten. I didnt ask who made the steak. so im not 100% sure if it was the Chunk. but it looks like a carbon copy of what is shown here.
a place in boston has it for 35$ with cauliflower mash jalapeno chimichurri and pickled fresnos whatever that stuff is haha
Nice!!! I've seen it for much cheaper then what they are selling it here in Florida... which makes sense because everything is twice as expensive in Florida
Omg what place in Boston has this?!
so much amazing vegan food just waiting to be discovered
Actually not. Plants are all discovered already. Stick to your beans and plants and stop calling it steak. It's not. The skirt steak from a cow that I grilled tonight is steak.
@@paulj2948 Stop wasting your time on watching food videos that you have no interest in. But keep going if you want to help the algorithm.
It looks very similar to the Juicy Marbles steak over in the UK
yeah I wonder how similar they are in taste, haven't tried any
you now can get it Juicy Marbles in the US.
Yeah I thought the same. Similar ingredients too
I thought the same, they look almost identical, so I really wonder where the totally absurd price of this one comes from. Because the JM steak is expensive, but still way cheaper than this one.
@@danims7329 yeah I would love to see a video comparing the quality of both (or maybe even more steak brands) and also comment if the price difference is worth it
Texture looks great. ❤
really cool!!! i wanna try it!
It looks amazing!! 😍
It was!!! It's so wild!!
I had this served to me in sandwich form at a vegan restaurant in NYC and it blew my mind!!! Highly recommend seeking it out!
I wish it were more widely available. Hopefully soon!
It looks crazy!!
It really was crazy, never had anything like it!
Live this guys determination. He's sooooo consistent
I’ve been meaning to try this!!!
It's worth the try!!
Same wavelength! I immediately thought of Guga reviewing this WITH your not steak sauce. It would be a fantastic collab.
Interesting content. Will have to try it next time I am in Florida.
$60??? holy cow! Yes GUGA!!!!
Yeah @Guga needs to try this thing!!!
Unfortunately he wont like it. Or at least he wont admit he does. It goes against his brand. I love guga, but he’s predictable
@@velvet_bassHe might admit it's the closest to steak, but agree he would never say it was better.
well it looks interesting, but it also look dry, im pretty sure is not as good as a real steak, probably more similar to boiled meat than steak
It looks good but it looks like a cheap piece of meat, not a $58 steak. For that price it should be spot on. If they manage to sell these for $10-15 at home that sounds more reasonable.
This is so Exciting❤❤
It's crazy right??!!!
That looks really good! I would like to see your take on recreating this. I think the hardest challenge is to get the strains all in the same direction. The rest is flavouring, and you already nailed that. ;-)
A while ago I made a mixture of thinly shredded oyster mushrooms and gluten (seitan), that worked out pretty good, but definitely not as beautiful as this.
I have seen manufacturers of flavorings and extracts. They don't just make the basics like vanilla or almond - they have unusual extracts like cotton candy, butter rum, or maple bacon flavor - all vegan! I wonder if one of them also has a vegan steak flavoring one can use. Obviously natural plants are the best source of flavor, but most people eating these vegan steaks won't be too worried about that.
@@TigerGreeneextracts aren't always some crazy science experiment. Vanilla extract is made by just soaking vanilla pods in very, very high proof liquor. That's all it takes
@@msjkramey Actually, that is not all it takes. Commercial vanilla extract is highly processed and requires maceration in a series of alcohol washes at specific percentages, temperatures, under pressure, then filtered and/or percolated through several rounds. This draws out a deep, complex blend of hundreds of flavor compounds from the bean. This is nearly impossible to make at home without expensive equipment.
Cold infusions (or technically a tincture) like you described are easy - just slice a few beans and drop them in alcohol. I have both in my kitchen. Infusions have a much more subtle flavor with a simple, basic profile, but they don't contain most of the flavor compounds (which are highly volatile and don't fully extract). Quality commercial vanilla extract is a much more stable, concentrated, and layered product. Infusions are also not cheaper to make. They cannot replicate the wider range of flavor of a commercial extract. If you're interested in learning more, there's a pretty cool article online called Real Talk: DIY Vanilla Extract Is a Waste of Time and Money.
I got to try this steak at Willow restaurant in NYC, and I agree it was the best vegan steak I've ever had. The day it's available for retail I will be right on top of getting some. Thanks for this great video about it!
There are some awesome new faux steaks available now in Europe too. The "Juicy marbles' is just like the steak you tried in the video. And also check out the 'redifine meat' steak. This is served in a high end steakhouse chain and is also really good!
I've had Juicy Marbles, they are here in the US too!!! Really good as well but definitely different than this particular steak!! I haven't had Redefine meat yet!! Looking forward to trying it!
I was going to say roast but brisket too.
totally roast!!! That is close too!!
Steakhouses are usually pretty cave-like. The lack of blue outdoor lighting makes the meat look better, apparently.
thank you for bringing the sauce man
Funny that he mentioned Guga foods, because I saw a video a few days ago where they tried the vegan "Wagyu Steak" and they all three didn't like it 😂 (at all)
They didn’t try this steak.
Not all vegan steaks are the same.
The fact that it's slightly pink inside like a real steak, it's incredible
I'd like to try this!👍👍👍👍👍
It is identical to Juice Marbles, you get 2 fillets at 9 pounds here on Tesco in London! You should do a research on that. 😊
I’ve done a video on juicy marbles! Very different steak! But also good!
This seems insane, I must say. I am so so glad more and more companies are trying to develop plant based meat alternatives that could easily please meat eaters. The more competition we have the more they have to try harder and boom we end up having options like this available! I think you should definitely reach out to them about a collab as I've not seen you this excited about a meat substitute in a while!
Margarett!!! Its crazy. ITs by far the best whole cut meat ive had yet.
Im really excited for whats to come with this!! I actually started talking with them today again about this!
Thanks as always for being here.
This is making me so hungry!
Sorry if you mentioned it in the video and I missed it, but how does this compare to Meati?
There's a restaurant near me I can go to try this, but they don't sell it as a steak, but as like bits in their other dishes.
Kres chophouse is another good option in the Orlando area, steakhouse with a secondary vegan menu
A video with you and guga would be so fun
how would you compare it to juicy marbles?
would love to hear from you all
I need to do a side by side... But from the last time I tried it I would say chunk wins the taste and texture game here, BUT not by much. Chunk is really good, but their fibers are thicker a little tougher and not as springy. This comes out more like real steak, like exactly like real steak. Juicy Marbles was 98% there. This is 110% haha
This looks the same as a juicy marbles steak which is available in the UK for around £9 for a pack of 2 and they are amazing.
Juicy Marbles is REALLY good!!! They sell it here in the US as well. I would say they are close but this is on top as far as texture and taste. JM is really good dont get me wrong, but if you have tried this one it'll blow your mind
Hey I tasted this today at NRA show in Chicago….wow what an amazing product!
It's not available in the UK. I'm wondering how the stratafied texture is formed. I wonder if a very thinly rolled seitan folded in on itself compressed would do something similar.
That nutrition label is not to code for the US. While fiber is not included in carbohydrate counts in EU labels, it is in the US, so it should state 11 grams carbs. While the EU style is arguably better, there still needs to be consistency in labeling.
We love your Not Steak Sauce, and it makes a great gift for our vegan friends
Thank you soo much!!
That looks exactly like the Juicy Marbles steak we get in the UK. We pay about £9 for 2 steaks in the supermarkets.
We get juicy marbles too!! I’ve tried it. Very good steak!
Different than this for sure. But I recommend them both.
This one is much closer to real steak though.
@@SauceStache ahh I see. The way it pulled looked so similar. The ingredients are pretty similar too. I'm impressed if this is much closer!
definitely reach out to Chunk and see if they'll fund/supply your experimentations. I had never heard of them before this and I think you'll bring them great publicity and exclusivity that you should definitely cash in on!
Wow that's looks good 👍.
Thank you!!! IT was nuts!!!
I had an amazing vegan 3D printed steak at Unity Diner in London, the restaurant founded by Earthling Ed. The brand was called Redefine Meat. It looked just like this and tasted as close to a steak as I’ve ever had, and wasn’t as expensive. But short of flying to London this is the next best thing. I hope we get something like this in stores soon.
I’ve had it, tastes more like corned beef/brisket, but still amazing!
I have been vegetarian for 16 years. I love this channel.
What a time to be alive!
Amazing tech!!!!!!!1
I was able to find this steak served as a vegan petit filet w/ vegan goat cheese at a restaurant in Mahopac NY today and it was soo good!
(those mushrooms look goooood🤤)
Of course the steak looks delicious too👍
I never even liked steak before going vegan, But I'd definitely try this. Also, What kind of sauce is your Not steak sauce? And does it ship to the UK?
It's a umami sauce!! Sweet, savory and a little spicy ( just a little spice ) right now we are only shipping in the US! Trying to get that changed very soon!
I believe these steaks can currently be purchased online in a 16 pak at $140.

35mg per serving of sodium.

Those are frankly unbelievable macros for *any* protein anything
Thanks for the review. I'm a 32-year vegetarian, and my subjective, rule-of-thumb experience is to make the range of vegan replicas only 1/2 has thick as what's being copied. Otherwise, it's just "too much" and the full sensory experience of a Beyond Meat burger, etc, etc. disappears. Again, that's my opinion. Hopefully the beet taste is non-existent. Looking forward to trying the Chunk steak soon.
Ive had chunk a few times now at a few restaurants in NYC. SO good. Tastes like braised short rib to me. Still waiting for that perfect vegan “steak”. But this is damn close
It looks like it closest represents a thick slice of roast beef. In the look and texture.
Yeah, really close to a roast
That looks tasty! Om nom nom!
You couldn't believe how tasty this was!!
NotSteakSauce can only become the world’s best condiment if you sell it internationally…
Im really trying to figure it out. The cost to manufacture it overseas is out of my budget at the moment, and the shipping cost is through the roof.
Hopefully after this next run I can get a few small orders made around the world

Juicy Marbles does a steak that is basically exactly the same as Chunk foods steak except Chunk foods only sells to businesses, if you wanted to order some and try some recipes. They also make great ribs with the same texture.
I’ve tried juicy marbles! It’s really good, but it is different. If JM is 90% there chunk is 110% there in taste and texture.
Both are excellent and I highly recommend both of them. But chunk wins by a margin to me.

Dang there isn’t any in my area. Not surprising since I live in Kansas. Hoping to move next year! To a more vegan friendly area!
Oof my condolences. Good luck in the move! Do you have a new place in mind?
FYI, the vegan friendly places tend to be cities, so it will cost way more to live there than where you are now. But the salaries are way higher and there's tons more jobs available.
I hope this tastes better than Juicy Marbles. I spent a ton of money on it and I didn't think it tasted like steak at all.
Have you tried Juicy Marbles? It looks like the same product.

I'm so curious how it actually tastes and feels, if it's actually close to steal or not, seems like it tastes good at least.
How does the taste compare to Juicy Marbles?
