WOW - Tofu sloppy joes are Incredible... like REALLY good! I have always been obsessed with Sloppy Joes.. it's one of my favorite sandwiches ever! Growing up my mom made it really simple, but it was the best! When I saw the video of @BrianLagerstrom making an elevated sloppy Joe I knew I had to try the recipe! But I was already working on another ground tofu recipe which will now come out later, so I switched gears and used it for the elevated vegan sloppy Joe recipe I made here and I am soooo glad I did!
and yes I had these for lunch and dinner for the next 3 days hahahah they were that good!

I didn’t like sloppy joes growing up because they just tasted like ketchup. Once I started playing around with my own recipes (mostly using homemade BBQ sauce), I suddenly liked them. I hear you with the yellow mustard thing. It clashes in a lot of places. Spicy brown mustard seems to work much better for me in most applications. I love the dehydrated tofu crumble method for so many recipes. (Future video idea: a bunch of different flavor profiles of tofu crumbles. I love taco and curry, but there’s lots more ideas out there.) I can’t believe it never occurred to me to use it for sloppy joes!

This took way too long to cook😂. That said, AMAZING!! The recipe is also very forgiving. I didn't have Red Wine Vinegar, used Balsamic. Didn't have broth, used a dry broth & water. No onion or garlic power, skipped the onion and used minced garlic with the wet. No idea how much molasses or soy sauce I was supposed to use. I don't like spicy so I used a regular green onion and just a pinch of red pepper. Still came out amazing. I would say, if you have a regular oven, expect it to take at least 2 hours to get your tofu decently dry...

I've seen a lot of other vegans use a vegan warchestershire sauce. Not sure where they get it but i guess it's a thing

What’s the deal with all the marmite? I’ve never used it but it seems like it’s in all your recipes. Is it that good?

It's good!!! Almost every vegan meat analog you can buy and some non plant based meats have yeast extract as an ingredient.... that because yeast extract tastes incredibly meaty... it's very savory. When you mix it with a little water, on its own it tastes very similar to beef broth! Give it a try, its wild

Woosh-duh-sure or whoosh-duh-shire are both acceptable, say it all together and say it fast and with purpose.
    hope this helps.

Vegan Worcestershire sauce is usually overpriced, though Whole Foods generic one is accidentally vegan and affordable. Most of the time I use steak sauce instead, and it’s great.

I never heard of a sloppy joe before, but it looks interesting. Seems like a good dish to cook on days you are too lazy to cook a "proper" meal, will try it out sometime!
