How to Set Up the Elgato Game Capture HD For PS3 (EASY)

System Requirements:
Mac: OS X 10.7 or later, 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
PC: Windows 7 or later, 2.0 GHz dual core CPU, sound card
4 GB RAM, built-in USB 2.0 port
Elgato Game Capture Software ➤ www.elgato.com/...
You can select all of the HD settings along with 1080p!
All of the cables you will need for this to work are included with the standard purchase of the Elgato Game Capture and there is a natural lag within the recording software, so do not worry about that. And you DO NOT NEED two HDMI cables for this to work. If you are having black screen issues my best advice is to make sure you are following my directions in the video as best as possible, your tv is set to the hdmi ouput that your Elgato and ps3 are all connected to, and if all else fails, restart the Elgato software and unplug the usb from your computer. After all of that put everything back together and see if it works, this has worked for me in the past when Elgato has been buggy. And also I can't stress enough that you guys need to have selected "1080" (make sure your tv can handle 1080p, if not try 720p) for the quality setting in the Elgato options, that will also help alleviate black screen issues when going through "component/D-Terminal. Also it is very important that if you plug your hdmi cable from the Elgato into a specific hdmi slot (for "example" hdmi 2) into your TV. You must turn your TV input to that same input (hdmi 2)." If you think you have everything connected right and the Elgato is still not working for you, I suggest that you restart the game capture software. Fantastic! I scoured the internet (including the Elgato site) and nothing made sense or worked- just for simple set up! You are literally the first person to tell me that I needed to use the multi-media cord and not another HDMI cable. Thank you for your easy step by step video that didn't just tell me that I needed to go out and buy ANOTHER expensive piece of equipment to make what is supposed to be the simplest to use capture card work.

When I hold down the power button it automatically requests HDMI, and that's all I can select because other wise I'll be looking at a blank screen!! HELP PLS!!!

Boomer Arcade unplug your HDMI cable and only have the ad cable in.

+Tigersp54 Why would you ask? the Model 3 has a A/V out if it doesn't work with that cable (over the top extremely unlikely to not work) if so you can use Component or S-video (the elgato doesn't come with a Composite with S-video cable)

On my laptop screen it shows the ps3 screen but my tv is working but the computer is showing my ps3 screen as normal yet it's got green bits everywhere any help?...
I'm also using only one hdmi cable the one in the elgato, does it matter if I'm on HDMI 1 Or not?

For those who are still stuck, if you have an HDMI plugged into your ps3 you need to switch it and plug your HDMI from your elgato into the TV where your ps3 HDMI used to be. Then just follow his instructions from there with the display settings.
