Read Lonesome Dove for the first time last month. Most books I hesitate to rank amongst my favorites because recency bias is a real thing. But a month later I'm still thinking about the characters, starting the mini-series and just bought Streets of Laredo.
Hello fellow LBC listener. Found your story on the radio inspiring. Im also a big reader and love finding new book channels on youtube. I've subscribed and looking forwards to seeing what new books you review 😊
This was the last book I read in 2023. I read it 20 years ago and it holds up. A top 5 book all time for me. The television miniseries is great too. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it.
Hi, friend. Thank you so much for your kind words. It was my first time reading Lonesome Dove. I absolutely love it. Will definitely check out the TV series.
@@harrysbookcafe I would also recommend Charles Portis' novel "True Grit". There are 2 film adaptations of that book. Both movies adaptations are good, but the book is fantastic. It's one of the best Western novels out there.
@@dustinneely Thank you, friend. Before Lonesome Dove, the only other Western novel I read was Brother Sisters which I really enjoyed. I will definitely check out True Grit for sure. Thank you once again for the recommendation
Just heard your call in to James O'Briens talk show regarding giving up a regular job to do what you love. It's inspiring in many ways for me. Thank you!... And yes I'm now subscribed. unfortunately I have to get back to work right now, but one day I hope to take a leaf out of your book. Good Luck with your whole life🙂!
Bro. I love this channel and i look forward to seeing more of your vidoes. I think i was amazed when you said to james that you love reading to the point you stopped working to read. Keep following your dream my man and i will be here to support your channel ❤
I'm here from the James O Brien radio show on LBC 97.3. Your call was very inspiring. That's your book! #writewhatyouknow Impossible sales targets "Underperforming" Good luck Harry
Also here from LBC, good luck with your videos! Have you ever read House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski? It wouldn't be an easy video to make, there are so many aspects worthy of comment, but I'd be interested in your take
Hi, friend. I watched quite a few reviews of House of Leaves. But I haven't read it yet. It's a book I have been meaning to read for some time. I Will definitely read it in the new year. Thank you so much for your recommendation. And I hope you will like the videos.
Hi, thank you for your comment. My top five are as follow. 1. The Stand by Stephen King 2. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton 3. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline 4. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry 5. Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie
Harry can I make a recommendation to you (if you haven't already read it) It is called The Girl in the Picture - The Story of Kim Phuc, the Photo and the Vietnam War by Denise Chong. This book is the brutal story of how one little girl's injuries led to her being abused by the Vietnamese government for years. It is incredibly raw and emotional and if you have not already read it, I strongly recommend it to you.
I just heard you on James O’Brian and I think you should write a book about a transgender woman who overthrows the bourgeoises using Twitter memes and cancel culture! ❤
Here after listening to James O'Brien's LBC show!
Me too😂
Haha same here look forward to checking his channel out he sounds like a genuine bloke
Thank you, friend. I hope you'll enjoy the videos.
Welcome, friend.
I’ve had Lonesome Dove on my shelf for about 6 months and haven’t gotten round to starting it. Will be starting it tomorrow after your video.
Thank you so much for watching the video, friend. It really is a fantastic book, and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.
DId you read it yet?
