I read it last year and loved it as well. The last like 200 pages I read in one sitting because it was so riveting and the ending and certain character arcs got some tears out of me. I'll be reading the rest of the series this year. Almost every fan I've seen says the rest are great as well and worth reading. Some say possibly even better. 😮
Nice! Yep I've picked up the others as well.. I've actually heard none quite live up to the sequel but are still worth reading. Don't know if I'll get to em this year but we shall see!
Lonesome Dove is my favorite novel. I love Blood Meridian too, but it’s just so brutal. Side note, one of my favorite singer/songwriters, Ben Nichols, made an album based on Blood Meridian called The Last Pale Light in the West. It’s a good listen.
Great review! One of my favorite books of all time. They did a tv miniseries in the 80's that was really well done. Starred Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones.
Superb reading experience. It’s way more than a Western. One of my favourite books of all time due to the beautifully rendered male and female characters, in a big landscape, on a quest to the distant and promised land of Montana. The dialogue between the characters is an endearing feature as well as the straight forward description of the sobering events that befall them.
Great review Carlos! It is a very human book and is a masterclass on characterization. There’s a reason Joe Abercrombie recommends it and wrote a whole standalone that is heavily influenced by it. Perfect accent btw I thought I was back in Texas 🤠
I do not like westerns but I tried it and I remember I couldn’t put it down. It was a “great ride” (as I often say about great books)… but when I tried to reread it about 6 years ago, I couldn’t get back into it. I’ll just have my memory of how wonderful the ride was. Nonetheless, HIGHLY RECOMMEND the book!
I still have my big copy and may try again but now that you guys have opened fantasy up to me, I have a lot of catching up on. Loving Abercrombie and just started Empire of Silence and like it … I also want to read Cahill. I have so much to catch up on !!! lol. Thanks for a nice video on this epic story. ❤
in 1985, two westerns came out. One was a violent, blood soaked odyssey into America's dark past and the evil and lives within us all. Another one is an epic journey across the American West, following some good ol' boys as they reflect on the past and how they're getting older. I'll let you figure out which one won the Pulitzer Prize. I hope tor read this book this summer. Wish me luck!
@@storytoob if it wasn't for Fool's Errand, this would've easily been my book of the month (at least so far!) Can't wait to read the rest of the series.
If your review doesn't get people jumping on reading this book I don't know what will. I is possibly my favorite book of all time and that is saying a lot. Did you know that James McMurtry who is a very well known Americana/folk style singer songwriter is Larry's son? Consider checking out his music. He is also a great story teller in his way, stories of working class people.

Totally agree!
I have been trying to get around to reading this and you helped push it closer to the top of my TBR list. Great video!
Thanks Joseph! Let me know when you get around to it! 😊🍻
Great review 😊 This book has been on my TBR and I hope to get to it, perhaps later in the year.
Merci beaucoup! Let me know what you think when you get around to it
Awesome review! I've had it on my radar/tbr for about a year but this made me actually buy the book so I'll probably get stuck into it around March.
Oh nice one! Thanks so much!

Great review and I didn't read or heard one bad review about this book which is absolutely bonkers!
It's an all timer!
I came here for Carlos Kruppe's American accent

I could definitely see myself rereading this one I must say!

Haha my guess is this one that says Pulitzer Prize Winner on the cover 🤣
It's a great book, hope you enjoy it
Finished it last night. Easily the best Western I've read.
Yessss!
Honestly, probably one of the best books I've read full stop. Cheers for watching the vid!

Gus and Call ❤ such a great review!
Thanks man! So funny that we read it at the same time and both took a while.
Worth it! These characters will stay with me
Loved it!
Just started it a few days ago. I do love a western on occasional, as long as its not that John Wayne bollocks.
100%
Always was more of an Eastwood man myself
Unforgiven 🔥

Oh wow thank you!
I had no idea nope.. never heard of him, but I'll listen to him in work tomorrow 🤣 thanks Jan!
Wait wait wait WHAT IS THAT T-SHIRT???
Ehh I dunno... 🤣 It's got birds...
What is it?
@@storytoobit translates to "Nature Cleaners" from Croatian 😂
Oh okay!
Edit: (Just looked it up... It's a wildlife preservation company haha)
