- Have you ever wondered how to stop your garage door from squeaking? How to service and lubricate a squeaky garage door are covered in this video. See how to lubricate hinges, rollers, springs and other components in order to reduce garage door noise.
Very good video except I would not use that product it's more of an oil than grease, I just did mine using Blaster White Lithium Grease (any white lithium grease would work) it thicker and sticks to the parts and gets worked in more slowly and doesn't leak down all over your garage and keeps the parts lubricated longer.
Before and after audio?
I used WD-40 worked just fine , quiet operation now. Thanks
Watched about five different videos on the subject, and this one is the most helpful. Thanks.
After spraying all rollers and joints 2-3 times this video finally helped me stop the darn squeaking noise from my garage door. Thanks for the detailed locations of where to put the grease
One of the best DIY maintenance vids I've ever seen, and I built my own house! Very informative and helpful!
Agree.
Man my garage door sounds like a scary movie, glad I found your video. Thanks
Looked at many video to fix stopping garage door...this is the best, gets straight to point...others talk too muchThank you.
Agree. One of the top video clips in this category actually uses comedy theatrics ... really annoying. This one is simple, clear & straightforward. 👍👍
So, let get this straight. What he's saying is that lubricating your garage door once every decade isn't enough. Okay, got it. My poor door. Ha! He did not mention lubricating the running surface of the centre bar, or did I miss that? I think it should be added. Other videos emphasize. Thanks Skelton.
That will be in the upcoming video titled, "How and Where to Lubricate a Garage Door *Opener* to Stop Squeaks"
You can also use any brand of White Lithium Grease.
How about wd-40?
@@NhatNguyen-xs7kl no. Dirt and dust collector using wd-40
I was pretty skeptical but this worked great. Took about 10 minutes to do while following the video. Awesome!
your video did a really good job of showing what parts you were talking about. thanks!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!! I tried tips from others and yours was the only one that finally got rid of those annoying squeaks! Excellent and easy video!
just what i was looking for. Thanks for posting! 🚘
Very simple and very helpful! Thank you!
This worked great! Our garage door is great again!
Very good video - up to the point! Thanks!
Very helpful - thanks for posting this!
What about the drive screw? Or whatever the right name for it is.
Lubricate the screw
Perfect right to the point. I'll lube it up today,. Can I get 3-1 at Home Depot?
Yes. both Lowes and or Home depot
Can I use WD-40 instead of the 3-1?
Regular WD-40 is a de-greaser, so it won't work well here. The WD-40 _brand_ does make a variety of lubricants, the best for garage doors being WD-40 Specialist White Lithium Grease. It is thicker and will coat the parts to keep them moving smoothly.
@@PongoXBongo thanks, I went ahead and brought the white lithium grease spray and lubricate it a few weeks ago.
@@NhatNguyen-xs7kl Just make sure not to spray it onto any plastic or rubber rollers - just onto bearings and pivot points etc
@@fred4687 thanks Fred, I sprayed on all the hinges but I did spray a little bit on the rollers/tracks, maybe next time I won’t anymore.
@@NhatNguyen-xs7kl The roller tracks can be cleaned out with an old rag etc, a final wipe over with a rag soaked in mineral spirits is good to give them a good clean. Lithium grease works well for hinges, pivots, bearings etc but just remember that as with all petroleum based products it can harm rubber/silicone/plastics over time.
Thank you so much for this. Just did this and not 1 sound or squeak. Finally won’t be letting the whole neighborhood know when I leave or get home lol
A timely subject and well done too !!
Great video, thank you. I have noticed on my track and around rollers black thick grease has leaked out from some where, can you recommend a product that will help to remove this from the track, ty. I looked at Gumout but not sure that would do it.
I use WD-40 to break up and remove grease. Use plenty of rags because it will drip everywhere. If you have a lot of grease in the tracks you may want to lay a tarp (or rags) on the floor to catch the grease. Also, when doing this kind of work, it's wise to use safety glasses. Best of luck to you!
Ok will do and thank you.
Thank you very helpful
music was annoying as fuqq, but the video was great !
Lubricate garage door is hardly working well and last short time because the noise source never get addressed well and the oil soon dry out. I doubt not much of them applied actually contributed to noise reduction if not applied to right spots.
Great video!
Thank you great video, lub right where is needed.
Doesn't the oil attract dirt?
That worked
Thank you
Should I oil the pulleys of an extension spring system?
It won’t hurt
Not a bad idea to check and make sure they have safety cables installed too, while your lubing the pulleys.
who downvoted this video? lol wtf???
Thank you!
You're welcome and thank you for watching. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to add a comment. I can't get to all of them but you are appreciated!
Why do all you RUclips posters feel you need background music? And why does it take you 5 1/2 minutes to provide what is probably 10 seconds of actual information?
