Angelina's version was delicate but the strength of the lyrics shined through. I watch the first video of your presentation and I must admit that I am completely distracted by Juliette. What a character she is, on the smiling mischevious side. Her eyes, beautifully fixed upon the camera, and her love, her admiration for her big sister are undeniably the entire story of her life. You know, Alan, the art of suspense and of keeping for yourself the full attention of your students, and you play it very well during your touristic panorama of one song. With each linguistic version comes a pleasant surprise to learn, through your captivating never seen clips, how diverse the reception of La Bohème was in different parts of Europe. Despite the fact that it is not Edith Piaf who is singing the song, we quickly forget that faux pas as we enjoy Charles Aznavour singing his composition, while suggesting that he is also painting the lady in the nude. Angelina is doing a real tour de force here: she sings with a dazzling display of such an emotional intelligence of the song that she can convince the most doubters that she was actually in her previous life a hippie living in Montmartre. Will I have one day the answer to this question: Who or what made her to choose that song? Because, in several respects, La Bohème is foreigned to her, by its story and its cultural element. And it is a very difficult song to sing taking into account, for instance, the lenght of some verses in the lyrics. That question is irrelevant when it comes to her other French songs. We are blessed, indeed, to have Angelina in our lives, and to have you, Alan, as a wonderful guide in the maze of her eclectic repertoire. Thank you so much!
Beautifully stated as usual, Jacques. I, too, was distracted by the Juliette clip. Oh, I loved it very much and I believe our distraction was we began to think about Juliette and what she will decide to do with her life because, wherever she decides to go she will be dazzling. But, Jacques, after saying that, isn't it remarkable that we listened to Angelina at the end of the video and were moved so much that it didn't even bother us, or distract us, that she was reading the lyrics and grandma was videoing the whole thing? I would equate that to an artist painting another artist painting a nude woman. In Angelina's performance we get the whole life package and we loved every second of it.

Thank you for this lovely reaction, especially because you found a Serbian version performed by Dragan Stojnić, whose voice colored the streets of my Belgrade for years. By the way, Novak is still No1
Vocally perfect. Diction excellent; just one small detail: the H in Bohème ought to be silent, something like "... la Bo-è-me..." . Other than that, near perfection.
The impending lump in my throat and the threatening tears in my eyes finally release at the 15 minute mark, the kind of emotional dam-burst that only happens when real, true art is witnessed. I don't know how she does it, and I've given up on trying to understand.
Dammit! She did it again. I wasn't expecting it, but suddenly I was in tears. Why? It was so beautiful it was painful. There must be something wrong with me.
Hello Mr. Alan Papier, this is to make a correction: time 10:10 it is not Edith Piaf who sings but Isabelle Boulay, a great singer from Quebec, Canada.
The version you say is from Edith Piaf is from a QUebec great female artist called Isabelle Boulay. I do not recall if Edith Piaf ever sang La Boheme but she and AZnavour were once lovers. Angelina is a great singer but ISabelle BOulay is a on another level. I suggest you find her on youtube. I am sure you will be amazed. She is very very popular in France now.
Great job Alan, as french, thank you a lot 🇫🇷 there is just a little mistake just before french version by Charles Aznavour, it is not Édith Piaf 🥺 she is Isabelle Boulay a famous Quebec singer 😉
Very interesting and beautiful work you made here, Alan. BTW, Kenji Girac (you pronounce it Djirac) is a gitanos. 😉 And I'm not sure you used Piaf one (since she never sang it and her voice was recognizable among thousands) rather Isabelle Boulay, a Canadian singer. ruclips.net/video/DH1OjFw4tmM/видео.html
It appears there are many videos on RUclips suggesting that one of the versions of La Boheme you posted here is by Edith Piaf. I don't believe that is correct since Edith Piaf died in 1963 - and La Boheme by Aznavour was released in '65. More likely - the version you have here is by Quebecois singer Isabelle Bouley. The production qualities alone on the version attributed to Piaf are far beyond the capabilities of her time. Clearly - not all videos posted to RUclips should be considered factually correct. A version of Aznavour's song by Celine Dion would be fabulous - but I'm unaware she has produced one. Thanks for the interesting compilation of this wonderful song.

And I don't think she'll be missed - I'm sure she'll not be missed!
[KO-KO]
And that Nisi Prius nuisance, who just now is rather rife
The Judicial humorist - I've got him on the list!
All funny fellows, comic men, and clowns of private life -
They'd none of 'em be missed - they'd none of 'em be missed
And apologetic statesmen of a compromising kind
Such as - What d'ye call him - Thing'em-bob, and likewise - Never-mind
And 'St- 'st- 'st- and What's-his-name, and also You-know-who -
The task of filling up the blanks I'd rather leave to you
But it really doesn't matter whom you put upon the list
For they'd none of 'em be missed - they'd none of 'em be missed!
[Chorus]
You may put 'em on the list - you may put 'em on the list;
And they'll none of 'em be missed - they'll none of 'em be missed!
Bravo Fred. Je m'apprêtais à écrire un court commentaire sur ce détail du "h" mais tu l'as fait avant moi.
The impending lump in my throat and the threatening tears in my eyes finally release at the 15 minute mark, the kind of emotional dam-burst that only happens when real, true art is witnessed.
I don't know how she does it, and I've given up on trying to understand.
Correction- The Edith Piaf version is not sung by her. The singer is unknown. AP
It's definitely not Edith Piaf. This is probably Isabelle Boulay.
@@bobfr4806 indeed it seems to be her:. ruclips.net/video/DH1OjFw4tmM/видео.html
Thank you Alan. I enjoyed this very much. I did not know the history of the song so thank you for teaching me something today
For me, the best part was the beginning and the end. Angelina can do anything!
Thank you!
Dammit! She did it again. I wasn't expecting it, but suddenly I was in tears. Why? It was so beautiful it was painful. There must be something wrong with me.
Wow, that must have been a lot of work putting this together. Thank You !
Oh my God, I spoke too soon. Angelina, Angelina, Angelina. 🌸
Alan you are a great educator
Hello Mr. Alan Papier, this is to make a correction: time 10:10 it is not Edith Piaf who sings but Isabelle Boulay, a great singer from Quebec, Canada.
FANTASTIQUE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HERMOSAAAAA,ÚNICA 😇👣💯💯💥👍👍👍😁❤❤❤❤
Thanks 🙏
unbelievably wonderful video
All I can say is LOVE & Angelina Soothes my
The version you say is from Edith Piaf is from a QUebec great female artist called Isabelle Boulay. I do not recall if Edith Piaf ever sang La Boheme but she and AZnavour were once lovers. Angelina is a great singer but ISabelle BOulay is a on another level. I suggest you find her on youtube. I am sure you will be amazed. She is very very popular in France now.

New cover by Angelina Jordan: "When you believe" (Whitney Houston ft Maríah Carey)
Thanks for the heads up
in my humble opinion, Charles Aznavour kills it over Edith and all others. 🌺
I am number 14 to LIKE 🧡
Great job Alan, as french, thank you a lot 🇫🇷 there is just a little mistake just before french version by Charles Aznavour, it is not Édith Piaf 🥺 she is Isabelle Boulay a famous Quebec singer 😉
I like the Armenian version of the bit you showed us. Thanks
Very interesting and beautiful work you made here, Alan.
BTW, Kenji Girac (you pronounce it Djirac) is a gitanos. 😉
And I'm not sure you used Piaf one (since she never sang it and her voice was recognizable among
thousands) rather Isabelle Boulay, a Canadian singer.

grazie
Wow that's super
Gigliola Cinquetti was a "euro song contest" contestant a long time ago
Here we have the musical chameleon doing Edith Piaf. Remarkable. No wonder the French love her version.
