      What a relief! Those 44 extra minutes are gonna be a HUGE difference! After all, setting a timer to zombies doesn’t kill the whole reason people liked to play, you know, seeing how long they could play? Then again, it wont be a problem if rounds don’t even exist. Right? 😀👍

    I’m also annoyed that we have to call classic zombies “round based.” Even when we had modes like Dead Ops, Grief, Turned, Rush, or Gauntlet, modes that were not technically round based, they didn’t feel so alienating to where we had to rename classic zombies.

    Well personally I think what led to vanguard zombies downfall was more a lack of time and money and a small dev team with little to no experience with making zombies if I recall correctly, pretty sure they were multiplayer guys. (It was 100% activisions fault vanguard was bad, treyarch literally did nothing wrong-) so while I guess you could call both the vanguard dev team and the cold war dev team "treyarch" they arent the same so it's not really the same situation between Vanguard and MW3. I actually trust Kevin Drew and the gang. We havent really seen anything much on MW3 yet so I'd hold off on judgements. I think it's okay to have zombies be an umbrella for all of call of duty's pve ventures and not just roundbased. I like outbreak just as much as roundbased, hell I like extinction just as much as roundbased. It's kind of a cope to call the success of outbreak a lie just because you dont like it. Personally I'm excited to hear more news on MW3 zombies and am excited for another attempt at open world zombies. Some of the details I'm hearing like it being a mix between outbreak and DMZ sound like great concepts. So I dont personally think treyarch is killin zombies, infact I'm pretty dure cold war was like an all time high in the zombies playerbase and got a ton of people over from multiplayer and actually appealed to normal people instead of youtubers who wanna make hour long wonder weapon build tutorials. Anyway just wanted to write this. Thank you for reading and have a good day/night.

      @@CJSanta Idk I think they have plenty of direction. Cold war they were focusing on gameplay and it fuckin worked out, I agree they lacked some personality but I do think they made up for it in inivation and gameplay design. For all the bad things that Vanguard did, one thing it did well was show they were willing to listen to the community. The biggest complaint with cold war was its lack of personality and Vanguard had alot of personality. I'm hoping MW3 can be a mix between those two games best parts. Cold wars gameplay design and the vanguard personality. We're gonna ignore that the archon was a reskinned map and all that. When I say personality I mean characters and the art direction for Der Anfang and the dark aether area in Terra. If MW3 can have the best of both worlds they'll knock it out of the park.

    • @CheeseSupremeWasntTaken
      @CheeseSupremeWasntTaken 11 месяцев назад +2

      The point of me mentioning extinction was that I dont think it needs to be roundbased to be a really great zombies mode. If they just have a better version of outbreak with the same amount of personality put into as vanguard I think we'd have a hit. And until we get more info we dont know enough to say whether or not it'll have that personality or that gameplay.

      I actually agree with most of your points. Zombies fans saying round based is the only way that zombies could exist, is a path to a dark road after the release and disaster of BO4.
      The reason Outbreak blew up and had neck and neck player count wasn’t because it was “like Warzone”, but because it was finally something new that people who grew out of round based could play. I’ve been playing since WaW and Outbreak and these new steps they’re making towards expanding zombies to be more than just 1 map per season and have an ever evolving playground is just cool to me.
      I hate this negativity and the idea that there are “real zombies fans” or “true zombies” is so horseshit. Watching so many people, including myself fall back into love with zombies through Cold War after whatever BO4 was, was incredible to see. I still play Cold War to this day and plenty other do. Zombies was revitalized after Cold War and that’s an objective truth and it’s just starting to branch out alittle bit after 14 years.

    (Please read the whole comment if you don’t at least respond talking about what i am saying and call me a activision rider I will ignore you) Heyo long time zombies player. Am I the only one that loves outbreak? I got sick of round based because of boredom of at this point in round based zombies SINCE BO3 round based zombies has turned into time based zombies. No matter what you do you just sit there and keep shooting your wonder weapons. I got sick of it. Every map plays the same. It isn’t how long can I last? It’s how long can I play or how long before it crashes. That’s the point of zombies. How long can I Iast is the main thing missing since bo3.
    This is where outbreak comes in and fixes that issue as it introduces the objectives and go at your own pace.
    The objectives bring extra difficulty as you not only need to worry about yourself but the objective as well. The difficulty is higher too. I made it to round 100 on all Cold War maps (except fire base z) and the enemies health are WAYYYY higher in outbreak than round 100. )remember when trearch almost killed Cold War when they raised the health cap to 85? Because they were no one shot wonder weapons or traps which makes all weapons useless? Nothing just to remind you that.
    You can rush into objectives is a choice you can do, or take your time and do the side objectives for points. The difficulty curb increases until like round 15-20 and at that point the difficulty has peaked and only rush the objectives. And even while doing that the panzer and tempest chase you down so the stakes are still high.
    Anyways my point is. That outbreak introduces choose your own play style while also being challenging for the objectives. That returns the concept of how long can I last?
    The current world record for outbreak (2100+) ended in a death not a crash. I also love the maps. Spawning on top of a giant hill and parachute your way down Is really fun. Or fighting your way to get on top of the hill. Or your standard big building map that takes half of the map. And more. Which makes each map stand out :0. Exepct for zoo your forgettable.

    i liked Outbreak and i still play it from time to time, while it doesn't have your typical arcade structure, it does bring a breath of fresh air to the mode i think was necessary (while paired with the classic zombies of course), tho i have to agree on the overall theme of the maps, they feel as lively as they were in multiplayer, they didn't bother adding some blood around, corpses, debris, broken vehicles, nothing, but imagine how good a map like Tranzit would play with Outbreak's "rules", that would sell like hotcakes imo.
    I love Classic Zombies and i like Outbreak, i think the only real flaw with the mode is how zombies only pop around to bother during objectives, so outside of them the game as a whole feels incredibly empty, while for the maps, i think the best fix would be to give Treyarch more time to "zombify" the maps while still recycling them, if not outright let them make completely separate maps for the mode.
    This was my take on the subject, you don't really have to agree to it, but we should acknowledge that whenever or not we like it, Outbreak is here to stay, so we might as well give some feedback on how to improve upon it instead of just saying "it doesn't feel like zombies".

They tried so many different crews and the only ones that seemed to generate a good response was the Primis and Ultimus crews and the MOTD crew. Primis worked since it was an evolved state of Ultimus, the characters felt like they grew from what they were in Ultimus. I think the Ultimus crew had character and their interactions with each other helped a lot, one of my favourite memories from Zombies was in BO1 on Kino when you interact with the portraits of the other characters and your character has some random sentence to bash on that character. This added a lot of depth to them even if they were gross stereotypes and allowed people to actually develop a relationship with the crew. That kind of interaction couldn't really be captured in the later games. I think the 2 unique crews fans like had something in common (Ultimus and MOTD), the crews didn't actually like each other.

    I actually think BO4 Zombies is really fun. From someone who ironically started with BO1 Kino and then worked my way back and honestly despise BO3 Zombies, I think that the reason for the death of Zombies is simply yes from the fact that the only reason gaming numbers are up is because of Quarantine and shit. So what game developers did was just simply give up and just say “Oh you see the success of this game/game mode?” “Barely anyone will be able to tell if we just copy-paste all of that and add it to a new title.” And basically rely on brand recognition at this point because it seems they just stopped giving a fuck about releasing full games at launch because they want the rich kids buying more and more shit to give them that good feeling thinking that “Why unlock this shit by grinding hours and hours and hours and building skill and familiarity with this game and its concepts when I can just buy everything the game has to show that I’m better than you even if I am a noob”. It’s really pathetic and annoying to the OG generations of gamers that were dedicated to putting the actual time in to appreciate games. I can’t even tell the difference between Warzone, Fortnite, PUBG, Apex, Overwatch, you name it. But just to re-clarify, it’s also what I’m seeing with 2K and Madden and (sadly) AEW: Fight Forever. They care more enough on the people spending more and more and more money (that not everyone has because thank you COVID) rather than focusing on releasing whole games for the fanbase itself to keep alive year in and year out. It’s why they’ve stuck with the annual release formula, because it’s ***more money*** and again the younger ones will buy into it regardless because of previously stated ***brand recognition***. Zombies just happens to be one of the worst victims of milking the cow or just simply kicking the dead horse (because it was supposed to end THREE FUCKING TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) It’s why outside of AEW: Fight Forever, I will never buy a game made during the Quarantine Era or even after that. Because plain and simple, developers ***just stopped giving a fuck.***

    I think the turning point was Jason blundell. I truly think that he is the worst thing to happen to zombies. Origins is confusing and ultimately boring, black ops three is the same. And black ops 4 couldve been decent if the mechanic were kept the same and they had more time. This is all my opinion but zombies stopped being scary after black ops 2 and the only one to blame is Jason blundell

    • @CJSanta
      @CJSanta  11 месяцев назад +1

      I am personally slightly am in agreement. Blundell completely misunderstood what made zombies fun. It was never complicated maps it was the fun of survival and discovery. • @cojack

      @@CJSanta i think Jason brought a lot of development to zombies but I said back in BO3 that things started to become too story based. Easter eggs starting becoming requirements in later games rather than things you could chose to do or not and you couldn't really just hop on and try to survive, you had to go through a load of hoops in the process. The community outreach under Jason in BO3 was incredible, I loved it but it just went too far with the magical fantasy aspects. Obviously Zombies are fantasy on their own but dragons and all sort of crazy monsters took away from the original N*zi story and semi-historically plausible nature.

  • @Ermac43
    @Ermac43 11 месяцев назад +5

    I’ve been playing zombies since WaW and I loved Cold War and what it brought back to the community after BO4’s crash and burn. No matter what people do now after the fact of BO4’s state, honestly doesn’t matter. BO4 had its time, it’s resources, BO3’s success on its back, and still failed miserably. Cold War on the other hand brought fun gameplay back to zombies, listened to community feedback that was given during BO4, was telling a new storyline, and was expanding on the zombies mode, even adding new forms of progression.
    I personally hate the negativity and hating on everything that isn’t “traditional”, because it really doesn’t have to be anything, whatever is fun and people enjoy is honestly the most important thing. After playing every single zombies mode for the past 15 years, they are finally spreading their wings, and for the most part, people are enjoying it.
    Round based still exists, it wasn’t magically deleted after Outbreak got 1 more play than it, what’s different now is that they have the backing from the community and hired resources to do more than just round based now.
    Honestly I’m expecting MW3 to actually be good and enjoyable, not the best mode in zombies or anything, but just a fun mode for this year that lets us have more fun in 2024 with Treyarch’s full game. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but I’m looking forward to these next 2 years of zombies as a hardcore long time player.

    • @CJSanta
      @CJSanta  11 месяцев назад +3

      Round based may still exist but at the cost of putting more time into objective. And I stated what the general thoughts on vanguard were. I actually don't mind Der Anfang personally, I think it's better than Outbreak because of the hub area.

    • @Ermac43
      @Ermac43 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@CJSanta I disagree. It may seem on paper that these objective modes are getting more support, but they’re just easier to produce and make updates for. Making original round based maps would take up resources from their 2024 project and take more time, where as these objective modes just use what resources are already there making it a lot easier to produce in general. Like you said in your video, it’s reused content and that’s what runs the machine. Outbreak received multiple updates, but it was all supported by the round based map that released along side that season. It’s kinda like a massive zombies playground, where round based is like a detailed doll house.
      Vanguard was absolutely horrible and really doesn’t compare to Outbreak, outside of the objectives aspect. The whole selling point of Outbreak is large scale/open world. There is absolutely 0 exploration in Der Anfang and nothing of value in its hub outside of the bare necessities. Outbreak had side objectives, chests with loot, random events like the orb or the helicopter. Nothing like that exists in Vanguard, it is just objective after objective. There’s a reason why Outbreak fans didn’t just run over to Vanguard because of some objectives and enjoy it, nobody did.

    Why can't Activision just look on numbers on bo3 on steam and compare them to cold war to realize that people like classic zombie model?
    Why people hated amazing bo4 zombies with unique map setting and balanced gameplay which will satisfy both new players and veterans?
    Why have people praised cold war zombies where you can literally get to round 50+ when first attempting to a new map and then quit because it doesn't offer you any challenge?
    Why RUclipss are even comparing outbreak to survival maps when doing their tier lists?
    These are the questions that I can't find an answer to
    Current state of zombies make me sad and I want to believe that bo2024 will return with our favorite gameplay but I can't see any sign of this to happen

    After the Blundell era of zombies and how catered it became to the hardcore/RUclips Side of the community thus turning zombies into this hardcore and gate kept game mode when it doesn’t need to be. I think Cold War focusing on its gameplay and it’s foundations is a great first step.
    The criticisms of Cold War, it’s lack of style and characters, seemed to be acknowledged in vanguard. Love it or hate it, the art style of VG seem a 100x better than CW. And the introduction of the demons and more of the dark aether did help bring uniqueness into the game mode.
    TL;DR: focusing on a good gameplay foundation and art style is what keeps people around

    Saying Cold war is too easy is a fair criticism except for the implication that BO4 OR BO3 were really any harder in a high round perceptive anyway.
    The easiest high round map EVER is either tag der toten (where you can get to basically whatever round you want in the spawn room) and Revelations (where the strat is basically sit in verruckt and cover two windows with the apothicon servant).
    I personally think that some of the easter eggs should be as easy as cold war but I do think they need some that cater people who like origins for instance (I really enjoy Origins and the older more complex Easter eggs too but I do think there is a place for more story based easter eggs that are less complex in some maps).

      The difference between bo4 and Cold War is you can run around in cw without camping with the wonder weapon and still have it be a cake walk.
      With bo4, you have to manage your ammo, because there isn't easy ammo crates everywhere, you need to time your specialists correctly as they cost more kill to get back each time. Bo4's high rounds are not as easy as you think.
      With bo3 it's also a complete joke in most open maps with pack because of the overpowered aats.

No matter who develops zombies in COD now will get criticism regardless of whether it's classic, open world objective based or time based. The COD fanbase is so split and fickle that there will be hate no matter what the developers do. Personally I'll wait until I've played it before forming an opinion.

    i disagree about outbreak being bad. coming from black ops 2 it was great. but it played like a concept piece there was tons of potential but they abandoned it before it was finished. the world was empty and the zombies suddenly gained way to much speed(from 1 round to the next the speed would go from 1 to 2.5x and that was difficult(before they had the grapple gun). story had some depth but needed a lot of fleshing out like the rest of it. game mechanics were great but still needed polishing. the biggest problem was the servers and team management making impossible to find new friends and build a good community around it . i all ways played solo because it would keep kicking me after 15 minutes(ping of 15 to the other side of my country). it's enraging they killed it to make the mw3 zombies microtransaction dumpster fire.

Another thing is that with BO4 I was more lost than ever, the story didn't made to me a lot of sense, the DLCs maps were all re-skin or re-adapted MP maps. It was a hot mess. I cant rethink my opinion since I cant play BO4 zombies since im more than a party zombies player than a solo and no friends want to touch that again
    With CW imo, yes it is a fairly more casual mode compared to others zombies, but I liked it because they changed some systems, without losing the core: the weapons system I loved it (although they fucked the mistery box to a point that is worthless); the perk system that we know is back, but you have the shot to earn all perks; the "skills" system was good, helping them fusion similar perks like tombstone/who's who, making wall weapons stronger overall and dont feel peashooters at round 30. Outbreak was a whole boring show tbf
    Overall, I don't think that CW "killed zombies"; but more than "Vanguard Killed it"; since ACT wanted to kill the core by making it "more casual" and doing shit no-one ever asked

    I am a long standing zombies player World at War-Black Ops 4, and I got Cold War/Vanguard after the bulk of the lockdown had passed, and things were starting to open up. Vanguard itself was just ass. I play it now only to shit on the remaining player base or to entertain myself on Zombies. I am mixed on Cold War, though. While you have the "round based" maps that are arguable mixed on decent, excellent and ass. (yes I am going to use that 'dreaded term' because its how you describe the game being different than warzone remastered but zombies) you also have Outbreak. I personally played more of Outbreak at first because it was easier to get myself challenges and guns/camos etc done faster, and to get a feeling for how the game functioned after being off a video game console for almost 3 years.
    After a while I switched over to the 'round based' ones and it made a lot more for a zombies experience. I also think the reason the term exists in the first place, to tell a large community if said Zombies mode is going to be dogshit or can go in the trophy case under WaW-Black Ops 3. (lot of cringe whining @ 7:00 - 7:25 )
    I don't like Warzone DMZ. It's ass. I have on occasion gone back to play Outbreak just for the shits and to beat my longest time in-game.
    As far as MW2.0/MW3.0 the whole game is set to go up in flames the moment the game is launched...or not. MW2 has been a roller coaster of a game in itself. MW3 is going to be one of two things ... a complete turn around or it's going to make Activision, Treyarch and SHG lose the remaining people who play CoD still.
    The only think I want to be clear on is the Campaign. That much is fine. But obviously you cant sit and replay that 500 times for the year. It will depend on how dogshit they want to make multiplayer and zombies.
    However, they could still ultimately shock us all and make great shit. Or, they can seal their coffins and make a terrible game.
    Right now I've gone back to Battlefield 1, 4 and Five and even played Hardline for the first time to cleanse my hate for both games at the moment and return to a neutral state. 2042 is ass. MW2.0 is ass. Consider this my way to returning myself to an open mind for when MW3.0 comes out so I am not "pre-biased" to hate the game.

    I agree, the term "Round based" is fucking annoying. Its just zombies not "Round based". When grief and turned were introduced nobody retroactively calling it something else until black ops cold war.
    I also miss when other studios had there own take on the mode instead of just using treyarch to make the whole thing, taking development time away from their own game. IW is one of my favs and treyarch had little involvement with it.
    On a different note Cold war is too easy, bland, repetitive, not replayable and boring. Im pretty sure it was gonna be a ww2 sequel but since treyarch was put in charge of it they had to essentially reskin everything, making it feel almost nothing like treyarch zombies.
    Hope they start moving away from objectives and go back to making zombies and not warzone maps with zombies thrown in with 7 boring ass objectives (Outbreak).

    I do agree that Outbreak is lazy and gets pretty repetitive, and I try not to look at it as zombies because it isn't, it's a casual mode with zombies in it and a few objectives. It's not a masterpiece but it can be fun to run some outbreak with the boys and mess around, and then exfill on the 3rd round because it gets painfully boring really fast.

    I cannot stress this enough, they are probably going to make mw3 zombies like DMZ, PvPvE only and it’s going to ruin zombies, I mean they can do PvPvE but for god sake make it a separate mode do you can play solo

      I think they stated there will be no pvp only pve, so in a lobby of 24 players, expect Bullet sponge bosses that everyone has to shoot for 5 minutes.

      It’s only PvE thankfully. That was my big worry aswell, but it’s 24 players against the rest of the zombies. They’ve listed most of the gameplay detail’s already if you haven’t checked it out, MrDalek does a good job covering everything.

    i will give treyarch the benefit of the doubt because Cold war (While having a very mid story IMO) wasnt too bad for the first two maps. and both cold war and vanguard had huge development issues. So honestly next year is the last year ill ever look forward to cod, if treyarch cant prove they still got it when they are making their own full fledged title then i cant expect anything good ever coming in the future.

    • @CJSanta
      @CJSanta  9 месяцев назад

      I've heard this before, and less development time doesn't always have to mean bad product.
      There have been many instances in cods past where devs had less than optimal, and they managed to pull out a great game or map.
      Ever since Modern Warfare 2019, it seems that all of the devs at Call of Duty have become increasingly lazy.
      When single, lone modders can make amazing custom maps in bo3, there is no excuse for the 1000+ people at Treyarch and Activision.
      Cod 2024 is make or break for zombies. Let's hope it's good 🙏🏻

      @@CJSanta Understandable. I wont be buying the new COD after the garbage fest mw2 was, and how they lied about 2 years of support. Cold war was too easy, and vangaurd... im glad i never looked into it lol.
      MW2 and MW3 are big evidence that COD will continue to resuse stuff from their warzone maps for other modes and its sad. I miss treyarchs amazing map design and atmosphere.

    Honestly I agree that the community in general (and activision) is what makes zombies terrible. We just gobble anything up without question like a hillbilly looking for a partner even if it's bad. Hell i can't find the fun in any zombies game really. It's all the same boring stay in one spot, spam wonder weapon./run around, spam wonder weapon. Schtick which gets very boring very quickly. Only time where im not bored is if im either doing a challenge, playing bo4 on hardcore or playing waw. Other than that's it's all a snoozefest. Especially bo3.

    12:19 This is true in all aspects. If you do it for passion and making money while at it its gonna be good. If you just chasing trend and a number to make money its gonna be bad and weak. Not just in games in anything.
    People who work at Activision who never played a game in their life look at the statistics and they trying to replicate the success by statistics, its just funny how people who work at top level who has brains literally cant see this. Game development companies are super weird about this and destroyed many games and game dev companies chasing someone elses or their own success.
    BTW Whats the ultimate zombie game to play right now? Bops3? Can I play solo?

    Cold war and outbreak stans are mad at you for speaking the truth. Shocker. People just cant accept that Outbreak isn't true zombies because they enjoy it. People miss the point that True zombies is just zombies (round-based). Period. I and over 70%+ play for that. Not that there's anything wrong with having other modes. Its fantastic for zombies! However, it should NEVER come at the expense of true zombies

    To say that outbreak doesnt have fans or the only fans are the new players is flat out wrong. Ive been playing since bo1 and i really enjoy both round based and outbreak. Zombies does NOT need to be round based every time, it limits the opportunity Treyarch can provide

    • @CJSanta
      @CJSanta  Месяц назад

      I think with the amount of variety from maps like Verruckt, Call of the Dead, Moon, Tranzit, Mob of The Dead, Buried, Zetsubou, Attack of the Radioactive Thing, The Shadowed Throne, IX, Ancient Evil. To say that round based "limits" anything, is something I disagree with.
      What separated cod zombies from every other zombie game at the time of its release is its gameplay style. That's what defines it and gave it its identity.

    • @goodbagel325
      @goodbagel325 Месяц назад

      @@CJSanta you’re not wrong, i believe those maps makes zombies unique, but i feel like theres only so much you can do with round base, like i genuinely think soe or ix is where the limit is (until proven otherwise) but to say that nothing but round base belongs just closes the door to something that might be amazing. Anyways im really excited about bo6 given the 4 year dev time, wbu?

    • @CJSanta
      @CJSanta  Месяц назад

      @goodbagel325 I think the fact of how many unique, diverse and creative custom maps that have been made. Not just for bo3 but on world at War, proves that there's no limit to what can be done with the round based blueprint.
      With Black ops 6, the fact that they're going out of their way to advertise 2 round based maps as some kind of big selling point is a massive red flag.
      Black ops 1 launched with that, along with the 4 world at War maps when the hardened edition was bought.
      Ever since cod has moved away from paid dlc to seasonal content, we've gotten less.
      If we don't receive a new map EVERY season, I just want to know where those 4 years of dev time went into.
