First song from their last great album. After this it was a straight fall down to rock bottom instantly. First 5 albums are amazing, with Sear of truth and recreation day being absolute masterpieces! The intense darkness, desperation and hoarse raspyness of the passion in the vocals during this era was just heartcrushing!

Sometimes I just think that they are the best band on the planet. All their music speaks to me on a spiritual level. The sheer aggression and beauty of all their music has no equal.
@@roxanne1987r Lots of great bands out there playing the same style of music but I have never had one sound like Evergrey. Kind of like a Van Halen or a Pink Floyd. No one sounds like them that I have run across yet. Definitely lots of kick ass bands doing it though.
I'm totally onboard with op here. but the band will often release an overly dramatic song and it just throws me off. It's like, all that sheer power is just being wasted on moaning around. This song is one of the few that slaps more than it moans.

I had just recently discovered Nightwish and Children of Bodom right before Nightwish did their Nemo tour. I bought concert tickets based on the fact it was those two bands. Evergrey opened up for them and yes, I bought a Nightwish shirt, but I ALSO bought this album. Fell in love with these guys and man, what a show that was. From all three bands.

@sjbrave2k2 Absolutely. In fact I'm wondering why I said PoS is darker than DT... perhaps the odd song off maybe Scarsick or One Hour by the Concrete Lake but late DT is darker than PoS on average. My favourite era of DT would have to be Images/Awake, anyway.
@SweetOdinsRavens "Dark power metal" isn't a genre. I know it's really stupid to a point, there are hundreds of subgenres but they're just prog/power with a darker sound, just as Pain of Salvation are a darker Prog metal than Dream Theater, yet still the same genre.
