This is so funny because ALL I wanted for Christmas was a pilling remover, it was the only thing on my list. but my secret Santa didn’t want to get me one for some reason, so I bought it myself and it’s the best thing ever!!

Lovely instructional video. You and others have inspired me to own fewer better quality items that are able go the duration. Being raised in a family where cheap was valued and even bragged about over quality, this idea does not come naturally. I was in need of a fabric comb and after seeing this video decided to purchase a good quality one that had a good track record instead of more easily clicking the buy button on Amazon. Well, wasn’t I pleasantly surprised when a hand wrapped package tied up with a bow including a personal handwritten note from the owner arrived in my mail box all the way from Australia. My new fabric comb is a sturdy product that with care should last my lifetime. It was a good first lesson that when you buy quality over quantity many times you are not only getting a better product but a delightful interaction with the maker. Thank you for teaching me this lesson.

Wow. Learned about wool by just clicking. I make fully handcrafted suits as a hobby and really looove using ONLY 100% wool and other natural materials o the insides, etc. I hope more of the world finds your channel and be inspired. The world will be a better place for sure. Thanks!!

Wow I didn't know pilling meant the quality was poor! What is this 15 year old immaculate wool sweater brand Rajiv?? We love you
That sweater was from United Colors of Benneton that I bought when I was in Highschool...still have it and wear it regularly. I can't vouch for their stuff now, I don't even know if they're still around.
That blue comb almost destroyed my wool scarf 😢 after many battles, I used a face razor instead (the female face ones with a single razor on the end of a stick), and it works wonders!!!!

I have a battery operated comb/blade to remove puking but it makes the sweater very thin the more you use it.
Sadly, their are sooo many companies claiming quality these days, but they're just selling mediocre items for a premium price.
I can't tell you how many businesses claim to use only long staple fibers, and then you ask them what the staple lengths are - and they're slightly longer or the same as all of the other garbage companies are selling.

QUESTION! If I have a fresh brand new x-acto knife, can I use it to remove pilling? I don’t have that tool, at least not yet.
I gave up using those half-round combs, because they can actually pull out threads/fibres. I prefer the battery run LINT SHAVER.
In my experience the knitted garments that are made of or have a percentage of ACRYLIC in them ALWAYS pill. I avoid them now.
And, I've found a pure wool garment rarely pills. If they do a quick run over with the lint shaver removes those cursed little pills.

PS: I still have my pil remover from the 1960s! I still use it along with my newer shavers.
Thank you Rajiv! I just ordered a brass cashmere comb and some cedar blocks as I just noticed a tiny moth hole in a new cashmere sweater. What do you recommend for keeping moths at bay? How do they get in? Where do they come from? Several years ago they ruined a coat I bought on a trip to Ireland.

Fabric shaver
Rajiv the little device you are using to de pill your jumper is not a good idea. When using it, not only does it remove the pills it also pulls more fibres to the surface to pill in the future. You are much better to use a battery operated shaver
