I think the dream of every European ruler was to recreate the Roman Empire.Germans with it's three Reichs,Napoleon with the First French Empire, even Russia and Turkey declared themselves heirs of Rome

It's a beautiful dream. Yet the true successor was and always be the Byzantine Empire. In terms of geography, ethnicity, culture, religion, architecture, language... No other can compare.

Probably. But seeing germans with an unreadable map stealing the cultural heritage of mediterranean civilizations, while Germany was almost never a real part of the Roman Empire, is especially laughable and irritating tbh. They're almost the complete opposite of Roma. Forget all those self-proclaimed eagle bannered "successors of Roma". The true successor was and always be the Byzantine Empire. In terms of geography, ethnicity, culture, religion, architecture, language... No other can compare.
