The gorgeous and wickedly awesome Ravaged Star miniatures are part of a campaign ending soon. Check it out before its too late gamefound.com/projects/miniwargaming/ravaged-star-tabletop-miniature-wargame?refcode=KZhJrUFJ8Ue5ui3pRSB5Ag
To be fair to Nick, in this universe if you see a vaugly Tyrranid looking creature, its probably safe to shoot first and assume that it's just a new Tyrranid strain.
Have you seen the poor hammer co op thing? I’m liking how the recently everyone is trying to do more lore type games where there’s always a 3rd party that just shows up to throw a wrench in everyone’s plans- I hope we get to see more stuff like this
Tau vs ultramarines vs... imperial guard strugling with deciding about continuing under the empire or joining the promising greater good, but eventually rebelling against both two because what they actually want is being capable of getting some decissions by themselves and THIS IS NOT A PHASE, MOM! THIS IS WHO I REALLY AM!
Haha love it! Like the guardsmen start as college students and all they learn is how great the Tau are, but then get actual life experience and say F you both?
I'm imagining that guy was dragged off the field and was the declared by Tau propaganda as the hero of the battle that singlehandedly saved Shadowsun and Farsight by dragging them and the rest of the battered army off the field. Another glorious "victory" for the Tau.
Absolutely brilliant, I want tyranids to show up every game. I love the variation and tactical manoeuvring this added and would love something like this again
Imagine a seemingly normal game when all of a sudden a new player gets to the table with the Tyranid army and now, still with the same objectives and victory conditions, the two players have to deal with the Tyranids who just want to ravage and kill everyone
Ah yes, the Tau are here on request of the Demiurg (the Tau name for the Votann) looking for alien Eggs. Where have I heard this story before? ROCK AND STONE
Love the battle report, the concept seems very fun and I'd love to try something like it. I also want to give props for the music, it's something you do every report but is very rarely talked about. It gives so much life and energy to the report.
The RNG storytelling in this campaign narrative is so awesome, I can actually feel the air thicken the moment Tak is prepared to make his betrayal. Very well done, must be one Play On greatest if not the greatest campaign ever hosted!
This was the most enjoyable battle report I've seen in a long time. Adding Tycho to the mix prevented the outcome from being a foregone conclusion at the end of Round 2. Normally I prefer the 40-45 minute batreps, but this one was so much fun I didn't even notice the extra few minutes! More like this please! This is what Warhammer 40K was intended to be!
Really well done. I like the gradual escalation of Tycho's swarm. They didn't know how much trouble they were in until it was really on the board and overwhelming things. Very thematic.
I am loving the Ravaged Star campaign and being able to suggest rules and seeing the adjustment of the game play out has just been fantastic. JT You are correct, the Immari are the best. ;) It's fast pace, and simple rules makes RS really accessible. Go Ultramarines. NOOOO, TYCHO'S EGG!
I love these fun game concepts to really shake up gameplay; this game reminds me of the tyranid survival mission video you guys did from 9th edition (probably my favorite video of yours). Keep 'em coming and play on!
That needed to be a little more balanced, but it was really fun conceptually. A lot of 40k games play out very similarly and it makes the games feel a little rigid and samey, so something like 2k of Ultramarines vs 4k of Tyranids, but the Tyranids can only deploy 1000 pts per turn and have to either kill all the Ultramarine units or capture 1 objective in the Ultramarine Home area (no Deep Striking or similar) in 5 turns.
Love the special scenarios! Have yall considered trying poorhamers new Horde mode? A co-op version of the game meant to go against an endless number of baddies from any faction
PlayOn… you guys produce in my opinion the best gameplay content in the world!! For someone that only paints (which I love) I have no one near me to actually play. You guys fill that void!! Thank you 🙏
i have missed a bunch of these episodes recently due to a hospitalization, and dang have i missed some great games! 10/10 like always crew! i love this format! maybe J.T. and some spooky elves poping out of buildings? or maybe some nightlords?
I really enjoy the 3rd faction showing up. As someone who plays TTPRGs, it's always fun to see more casual, narrative-focused games that mix up the usual.
50:30 That moment right there brings back a lot of memories. My brother vs one of his friend's at my cousin's place. Imperial Guard vs Space Marines. 3rd edition. My brother controlling his Cadian troops. The conscripts, their morale questionable, were sent forward first. They get slammed into by the Terminators. It's a slaughter. Limbs flying off, heads pounded to paste, and bodies shredded. The conscripts with low morale have to roll two 1s on a 2d6 to not flee in terror as they were cut in half. Knowing their comrades were behind them and they would be vulnerable to storm bolter fire without a screening force, they hold their ground even without a commissar to inspire them. Next turn. The same story. Powerfists flying, torsos pulverized, and bayonets shattered harmlessly on Dreadnaught Terminator plate. They are cut in half a second time. At this point, no one would be angry if they broke and fled. They did their duty. They had bought time. Precious time. The Emperor was already smiling on them... AND THEY HELD. Snake eyes on a 2d6, twice in a row. If the Emperor's Angels had betrayed them, then they would go to the Emperor PERSONALLY and ask him why. They died in glory. Dying to the last man, they held long enough for the rest of the army to chase off the Space Marines. NEVER underestimate the Guard.
As usual, incredible production quality video and a great game that was lots of fun to watch. Thanks! I love these mp games. I've written a ruleset for a 3-4 player free-for-all that still allows for players to play points or to kill everything. It's soo much fun watching players negotiate and team up (players have the ability to gift their CP), then turn on each other as they realise the other is starting to get ahead on points or becoming a threat. Adding that extra layer of political intrigue makes for a super fun 'friendly' game. P.S. all of those paint jobs look sensational.
that one intercessor getting pummelled was so funny, like imagine everyone around you dying and then 3 missiles blow up next to you and your just there like: "first time?"
This was enjoyable to watch. Very interested in getting into Warhammer and playing concepts like this. Good camaraderie and sportsmanship. Looks like so much fun
Love the 3 team concept I think about halfway through I imagined what if it was Tau vs Tyranid and Space Marines had assembled an ambush to take out both I wonder what alliances might for if you guys do this again!
So glad to see a game with Ravaged Star! Those miniatured are absolutely beautiful, would love to include some for my Tyranid army. Love these thematic games as well, really makes it a lot of fun and essentially very accurate to the lore. I imagine a band of Nova marines on the Eastern Fringe trying to deter a Tau campaign only to be beset on all sides by Behemoth or Kraken. Really fun way to let the imagination flow 😊
The Ta'u honouring the truce to defeat a common enemy and the Ultramarines betraying that truce at the first possible moment to regain tactical supremacy is the most meta thing in the BR 😂😂😂
Such a fun game to watch, especially the additional tactics, FORCING the truce in turn 4 was beautiful, reminds me of necrons teaming up with blood angels
Glad to learn of Ravaged Star! Thanks! Definitely going to pledge and grab a few boxes. Mighty fine minis I can use interchangeably with both RS and 40k. Looking forward to painting!
One of the best games you’ve done, and I don’t like any of those factions :) Only modest improvements: show us on screen (listed rules, show, don’t say) how the scoring works and when the players learn it. I assume Tak and Nick were told all of the scoring rules for the monsters once they appeared, but it’s not clear - and I think it would have been funnier if the only learned once an objective was destroyed that they could be destroyed, which ones could be destroyed, and that was Tychos win condition rather than scoring points or killing them all - adding a new level of varying tension as the game progressed. Also telling them that they wouldn’t ever be told how many or what units Tycho had while also showing us would add the same tension - they’d have to eventually push in, but if Tycho had unlimited units they’d want to wait until late game, which if he only had a small number of points and units it might make sense to get rid of him early, and by explicitly telling the they wouldn’t know until after the game while also telling us in advance would add some extra fun watching them squirm. Note: these are small improvements as all of it was great fun, though you should at some point add and infinitely spawning and escalating third enemy with just that rule whose only win condition is to kill both armies before the end of the game, but without telling the other characters, and also escalate units based on how they were killed along the lines of early First Tyrannnic War lore where the Imperium didn’t know how monster escalation would occur and they they didn’t have to defend objectives, just survive. You could even add a desperate alliance rule with multiple factions who all benefit from each others rules (like how Tau + Imperium and Imperium + Eldar occasionally occur against Tyranid or Necron in lore). For hilarity you could try adding a 4th faction (who arrive round 4 or so just to mess everything up), especially if they’re Black Templar or Sisters since that’s happened in lore to snatch failure from the jaws of victory. That model works for almost every faction combination, though the point would be an in-lore strange bedfellows mashup, so Necron + Blood Angels works, but Aeldari + Orks only works against Necron, and nobody Allies with Chaos or Tyranid except Harlequins + Slaanesh (and especially Solitaires).
Great battle report, particularly the twist :) I think with space marine armour being so good Tau need to add in a bit more anti tank. Although crisis suits are necessary, a single coldstar with 6 crisis suits makes a very fast moving firepower unit, even a coldstar with just 3 crisis suits adds a great tool to the toolkit. Interesting the coldstar with crisis suits would have helped more with the secondaries (BEL) in this battle, while the anti tank was really needed to help kill the marine tanks.
An idea i have for a surprise three way game would be two armies are trying to turn off generators powering a noctilith crown. except when they do they discover the generators were actually powering a dampening field and the evil stargate starts spewing out daemons, chaos marines, maybe even knights. feel free to run with that idea to make it work if you like.

To be fair to Nick, in this universe if you see a vaugly Tyrranid looking creature, its probably safe to shoot first and assume that it's just a new Tyrranid strain.
Yeah I’d rather take down as many bugs before they come and maul me unexpectedly
Tau fire warrior veteran: We may be naive, but we aren't stupid.
- Random xenomorph shows up -
Nick: "So I started blasting"
Have you seen the poor hammer co op thing? I’m liking how the recently everyone is trying to do more lore type games where there’s always a 3rd party that just shows up to throw a wrench in everyone’s plans- I hope we get to see more stuff like this
Yes! I think the co-op game mode would really suit Play On's style of gameplay really well
I was about to comment this! seems like it would be a very cool video
This please
Wait until they do a 4th party.
I love how the most diverse and accepting race/army decided to immediately open fire on a bug that was being nice 😂
And xenophobic Ultramarines decided to just leave all-eating horrors to do what they please.
You know when you get jumpsacred by like a cockroach?
The tau are learning to hate like us. Idk if I should be proud.
"You are too near my egg" just killed me for some reason.
I feel his pain 30 dice and hit one. “Why are we still here just to suffer”.
Could be ultramarines vs tau vs death guard would be good
My guy, do you not see the weird chaos thing in the center.
im 90% sure it's the ravaged star bugs as tyranids
Haha love it! Like the guardsmen start as college students and all they learn is how great the Tau are, but then get actual life experience and say F you both?
I love this comment, it manages to please the T'au fan in me and still criticize the faction thanks to the emo phase joke.
50:38 - The perfect example of dice tell stories. The pure shock and laughter of Nick made my day 😊
I'm imagining that guy was dragged off the field and was the declared by Tau propaganda as the hero of the battle that singlehandedly saved Shadowsun and Farsight by dragging them and the rest of the battered army off the field.
Another glorious "victory" for the Tau.
Absolutely brilliant, I want tyranids to show up every game. I love the variation and tactical manoeuvring this added and would love something like this again
Tyranids, Cultists, Daemons, all would be fun.
Or orks.
Imagine a seemingly normal game when all of a sudden a new player gets to the table with the Tyranid army and now, still with the same objectives and victory conditions, the two players have to deal with the Tyranids who just want to ravage and kill everyone
This was as good to watch for a second time
Ah yes, the Tau are here on request of the Demiurg (the Tau name for the Votann) looking for alien Eggs.
Where have I heard this story before?
ROCK AND STONE
To the bone
"I've run a more list this time" as camera pans over 3 redemptors and 2 repulsors absolutely killed me
Watching Tycho just go full goblin mode and fucking up all the plans was such a fun mixup.
Love the battle report, the concept seems very fun and I'd love to try something like it.
I also want to give props for the music, it's something you do every report but is very rarely talked about. It gives so much life and energy to the report.

It's fast pace, and simple rules makes RS really accessible.
Go Ultramarines.
NOOOO, TYCHO'S EGG!
That was utterly fun setup... Tycho's entrance was extra funny
I love these fun game concepts to really shake up gameplay; this game reminds me of the tyranid survival mission video you guys did from 9th edition (probably my favorite video of yours). Keep 'em coming and play on!

Nick i watch this channel solely for your Tau play......... but these rolls!!
Love the special scenarios! Have yall considered trying poorhamers new Horde mode? A co-op version of the game meant to go against an endless number of baddies from any faction
Mubin, Michael and Nick just did that on membership exclusive video.
Face hurting from smiling for an hour and 7 minutes and not even mad about it
This comment put a smile on our faces
The jaws drop at double 6s lol. Awesome
You guys should do stuff like this more often!
PlayOn… you guys produce in my opinion the best gameplay content in the world!! For someone that only paints (which I love) I have no one near me to actually play. You guys fill that void!! Thank you 🙏

tycho is such a true chaotic neutral/good energy hahaha
Excellent! I hope we get to see more games like this!
Amazing Game Play On! Would love to see more games with a 3rd player. Well played and entertaining game. A nail biter right to the end!

I like these more different, one-off type games! Tyco is so fun to watch!
Tak: "I think they're carnivores". Me: "Well TecHniCalLy they're pescatarians ^^ "
Really cool to see Suppressors! And here’s hoping that Brutalis actually does something this time🤞
The lone Tau surviving a mauling by pure, miracle-level chance looking like a hero only to be completely frozen in fear is oddly realistic.
I love how consistently well-painted these models are.
Love the 3 team concept
I think about halfway through I imagined what if it was Tau vs Tyranid and Space Marines had assembled an ambush to take out both
I wonder what alliances might for if you guys do this again!
Nah but this was so much fun, and Tycho hamming it up with the bugs was perfect as a 3rd party.
That was the best battle I have ever seen. Great job guys.
I have to say I really love this crew but my favourite games are the ones with Tycho in them so far. He's always so in character!
I love the short guest appearance by the suppressors! I haven’t enjoyed a batrep this much in forever! More games like this please!
Amazing game, the alliances and betrayals… so fun!
16:01 the Imperium somehow making a non aggression pact with the nids but not the Tau is honestly so funny
So glad to see a game with Ravaged Star! Those miniatured are absolutely beautiful, would love to include some for my Tyranid army. Nick's Tau... putting the MISS in Missile.
As someone painting my tau as ultramarines i see this fight as a absolute win.
Tycho always gets way too excited for chaotic gameplay 🤣🤣
Loved the video. Would like to see something similar but perhaps with necrons being awoken
Tak had a great list this time! Good to see him doing great with some very solid units.
The Ta'u honouring the truce to defeat a common enemy and the Ultramarines betraying that truce at the first possible moment to regain tactical supremacy is the most meta thing in the BR 😂😂😂
Just pure, unadulterated, amazing content!
Tycho is so weird I love it lol. Also what a great game, not one player was playing the game in the same way in terms of scoring points!
I think this is the calmest episode that Tycho has been in lol
Such a fun game to watch, especially the additional tactics, FORCING the truce in turn 4 was beautiful, reminds me of necrons teaming up with blood angels
Loved this 3-way play. More scenarios like this please.
What a great game. A very fun scenario.
Narrative intrigue and betrayal. LOVE it
Tycho was great in this one
Glad to learn of Ravaged Star! Thanks! Definitely going to pledge and grab a few boxes. Mighty fine minis I can use interchangeably with both RS and 40k. Looking forward to painting!
I am loving those ravaged star minis. Great job guys.
Always enjoy seeing your team put an interesting twist on this game, i hope you do stuff like this more often. Amazing videos as always
That was a fun watch. Those dice rolls, ouch. Awesome video keep up the amazing work.
This is literally the reason I started this hobby
More of thessee! This was really fun to watch ❤❤❤
Love those original concepts !!! :)
woaaaah and rtycho being chaotic neutral again :D great move to make the battlefield smaller
hillarious vid!
This was a really fun one. Great concept and well played.
It was painful to watch Nick's first turn, damn! Couldn't catch a break on those dice :S
That 3rd player was soooo coool plot and game twist! This should be official :D
"My cards are telling me to betray the T'au"
Wow, the Emperor's Tarot is extremely impactful on these games
It was destiny
"Time for the wet willy of doom"
Always the most wholesome nerdy content to grace my RUclips account! :)
34:25, that math is perfect. The rounds penetrated the first bug and hit the second one.
This was really good watch, thanks :)
I loved this match. More fun with the twist
Space marines cleaning up a fish tank.
Hey, Sarge! We've got us sum' funky bugs growing in the tank, too? What'shu want to do with'em?
This has been a ton of fun to watch.
The match was fun, but watching you guys play was a joy!
Fantastic curveball game! I really thought Nick had it, but Tak always plays to maximize each. Super fun to watch!
These dice are loaded for the stories I’m convinced. No one can have that bad of dice luck. 🍀
That was incredible to watch. Very fun
One of the best games you’ve done, and I don’t like any of those factions :)

50:35 That was an amazing clutch roll. 😅
So funny idea! i love this kind of battle report! thks to the team.
That was an amazing match. A very fun watch
Great battle report, particularly the twist :)

Im a have to rewatch this from the start
That was a great match! Super fun to watch.
Awesome three-way battle report!!
Those nyds look very similar to the Star Craft II zergs. Such good memories!
This is a pretty amazing and ever first time to see and experience what warhammer 40k is like
50:39 best face 😂
Phew, those dice! Helluva story!
A nail biter 'til the end! Great game.
If they sold a play on tabletop brand coffee and advertised it as "It's what Nick drinks to be like that" I'd buy 10Kg
