We filmed a video series in March and it was all the things. Fun, challenging,exciting,beautiful, invigorating. even jumped into a lake with ice on it. Wtf also got stuck in a blizzard in Myvatn for two days

Yeah, But iceland is not all winter. Most people say that it's allways cold but it isnt, in the summer there are like 20 days or more that are rlly hot. I recomend visiting september-February if u want to be cold or see the northern lights!

The amount of daylight is reduced meaning you gave less time to do things. I would advise to get the best of both worlds to travel April/May or October/November.

As a non-driver, the regional bus services are cut back/suspended outside Reykjavik. Already in end of Oct i actually had to hitch hike. Hitchhiking in end of Oct already was pretty cold esp with not much traffic! So that's my problem about Iceland in winter compared to Europe....getting from place to place!
I lived for a year at Keflavik and Rockville when Rockville was a USAF radar station. You could never plan anything outside. When you woke up and the day happened to be rain, wind, and snow free you kind of had to make spur of the moment plans to take advantage of the rare decent weather. Go there in Jun, Jul, or Aug to experience the best weather and bring your credit card since everything is super expensive.
Don't count on Aurora lights, it's mother nature. It's not always on. After you crossed the hurdle of dark clouds, good clear skies, etc the Aurora lights will refuse to appear during the entire visit.
It was awsome..lucky with the weather cold snow and second day clear sky led to view of northern lights..landscapes amazing...but expensive. Worth it as place is very different..

Don't count on Aurora lights, it's mother nature. It's not always on. After you crossed the hurdle of dark clouds, good clear skies, etc the Aurora lights will refuse to appear during the entire visit.
You will see them with luck, after a week of it being cloudy
And water is free in iceland me and my friend know all about iceland because we live in iceland ❤
