This is a great video - thank you - BUT I purchased this device and it is a nightmare! I have spent over 8 hours of my life trying to get it to do what it says it does! I cannot login to any account via a browser, regardless of what computer or browser used. All I get is 'invalid email or password' ! I can log in as admin but that is now all I can do. So I have no access via a browser - not useful! Also, good luck backing up your photos from your phone, I managed about 40 out of 900. And if you store photos on an sd card then hahahahahahaha. Now the phone app is telling me my email or password is incorrect and wont let me in - good grief, this is awful. £300?! I have now carried out 3 hard resets to no avail. If anyone reads this and has any explanation or resolve then please let me know. It has driven me crazy.
The system isn't the problem, the problem is WD gave everyone using it the middle finger a couple years ago. I bought the same device back in 2014 and it worked perfectly. Back in 2018 I moved and packed up the device only to set it up today and nothing is connecting. I looked up online and saw on a forum that WD stop supporting the device and booted it from the mycloud application. I spent $300 on this device only to have it become useless not because of me but because Western Digital. I would be cool with not using the application but the way the device is set up you can only access it from a program
@@R.O.T.C._SEEM whats the workaround. and where do i login. I can access the Cloud account through my email. But i dont know now how to update the firmware
So all you've done it walk through all the options. It does not help me set up the cloud, it does not show you setting up the cloud, it just tells me what the options are.
A question I have not got answered is. I want to remove most data from my start up drive and keep it on the personal cloud. So does this device act like a mirror device and remove the file that was deleted from the original drive? Or is it safe and I can just keep my devices Unclutter from storing too much data.
So once you've set it up, does the hard drive need to stay hooked up to the router through the ether net cable? Or can you take it out and just leave the DC 12V hooked up to the wall?
Hi! A quick question,, I would like to know that if the my cloud needs to be connected always if I need to remotely access from any other location in the world?? Please reply is appreciated
Frankly, didn't really tell me anything I didn't discover myself by going through every menu. And listening to 26 mins of your fire alarm *chirp* was annoying.
Haha I spent 15 minutes checking the smoke alarms throughout my house - I paused the video while doing so and was puzzled as no chirp was detected. Then on resuming the vid, it dawned on me.
if the drive light is red, it means there is no internet connection. for the cloud to work there must be an internet connection. check the ethernet cable to the router/modem.
Western Digital should pay you. This was an EXCELLENT introduction to my new cloud device! Thank you!
I didn't know that they had a drive like that available, but it does the same thing my current hard drives does for backup.
Greetings from Portugal. Keep up the good work!!
Most useful video yet...easy to understand...

good video man. thanks for your effort to inform us
How's the noise level on this? Is it as loud as a paper shredder like another brand?

outstanding walk through! thanks!
Lovely

If you disconnect the cable you wouldn't be able to use it as it's meant to be used. If you just want a back up HD, get a My Book.
Sir, can I stream from WD My Cloud to a AppleTV 4th gen ? I plan on using my TV to view photos and videos
My Router does not have a an extra plug so that I can plug the ethernet in is there away where I can connect directly to my mac?
Then your router is a modem only, you should buy a switch this is a nas drive so no, no direct connect

The cloud must be on at all times if you want to have access to it whether it be at home or abroad.
Thanks A lot for a detailed great explanation :-)
My WD My Cloud stopped working about 2 months ago and nothing I do on any device will bring it back to life!! Sucks!!
I am trying "Linux for Windows". But you need to take the disc out of its case & connect it to a SATA drive in a tower computer!
Sad
My light on the front has stayed red and my computer will not find it? Please help me.
