    Hi I am starting on the 25th Sep Adult Nursing with the University of East London. I am finding it hard to wake up at 5am. I live 8 miles from UEL and my placement could be more than 8 miles . Handover from night shift is about 7.45am at Homerton Hospital the night shift is around 8:30pm to 7am

    I'm starting my adult nursing course on the 18th of September and I'm excited for the course in general, but I'm really really scared for placements. Like I'm actually freaking out about my placements. 😱 What if I mess up or what if like, I do something wrong when I'm around a patient? 😭 Just thinking about all of that is freaking me out so much and I'm actually really scared! Like I honestly cannot explain how scared I am. 😭 😭 😭

      First of all congratulations 🥳
      Secondly, i feel you dear! I was also like that in my first year. But the good news is you’d never be left alone during placement you’d also have your mentor/preceptor to guide you all the way. And don’t forget to always ask questions whenever you’re in doubt. You got this!

      @mathildachristian Thank you so much!!! I feel a little better now, after knowing that I'll have my mentor to help me. Do I have a mentor in 2nd and 3rd year as well? Or only for 1st year?

      Don't worry carry a note book with you and remember at the interview they thought you had potential thats why your going to be a nurse. I cared for family members most of my childhood and adult life aged 50 I am becoming a great nurse.

      I'm literally going through this right now. I've been accepted on an adult nursing course and I'm so excited but also so scared! Hopefully I'll be good at nursing and I won't make any bad mistakes 😅

    How far is your placement from home that you have to wake up at 04:30am? That seems like a mission! Also, can’t believe your having rice that early 😂😂 my breakfast was during my first break around 10-11am.
    Anyway, Iv just qualified good luck with your journey, it will be all worth it in the end x

      My placement was over an hour away from home. 😩 And initially i'd loose appetite to eat during my break once i get into the ward so i always tried to eat much as i could in the morning to get me through my shift🥲
      congrats on your qualification and thank you!

    Hi, please can you take me through the process you went through. I want apply for BSc nursing in mental health or adult nursing

    • @kayla8aby
      @kayla8aby 9 месяцев назад +3

      If u do mental health it’s a special practice per se and if you do adults it’s more general so you can move around to different practices throughout your career. Also a lot of MH nurses don’t have the skills of a RN as most of their placement are MH. Depending on the uni you go to as an adult nurse you’ll have to do a placement in each of the other nursing practices (1 child, 1 learning disability, 1 mental health). And then you can also do an elective placement (where you choose an area your interested in)
      Also you can also do bank shifts in a MH hospital or ward to expose yourself and see if it what you want to do long term. Hope that helps 😊
