  • Worried about starting your first ever clinical placement as a student nurse in a hospital? Well, this is normal! This video aims to outline what you need to know to prepare for your first-year first placement as a student nurse. Attending your first clinical placement can be really daunting, but with these tips, you can start off with a really good impression.
    It is important to make contact with your placement area early and to plan a visit to the ward in order to meet your practice assessors and practice supervisors. By doing this you will start to reduce some of your nerves and anxiety around starting placement and you'll be able to enjoy your first clinical placement experience. In this video, I give you insider tips as a real nurse who works with student nurses a lot in the hospital, and I want to point out some areas to focus your attention on so you can succeed in your first student nursing placement. I also discuss some of the things you should buy prior to your first hospital placement as a student, and I have listed them below.
    Starting a new placement as a student can be tough but if you prepare yourself correctly, you can have such a great time learning in clinical practice.

      @TheLondonNurse  3 года назад

      Good morning Charlotte. Thanks for commenting :) Are you starting children’s nursing then? Great that you’re fine with talking with children and parents! If that is second nature to you, then use that as something to comfort you in times where you’re really nervous - have a chat with the families! 🥳
      Good luck, and enjoy it!

    • @Charlotte6661
      @Charlotte6661 3 года назад

      Yes I am studying child nursing. I think it's because we have had next to no practical experience and apart from taking a temperature my ob skills are well... Non existent.

    • @TheLondonNurse
      @TheLondonNurse  3 года назад

      Yes I can imagine that is really tough. But hey, you’ll be out with real patients tomorrow and a ton of skilled staff that will be more than happy to help you get the hang of it all. Stick to the HCAs, other students, and just be really honest with your supervisors and assessor that you’ve not had experience with anything yet. They will be more than happy to help get you familiar and comfortable with your fundamentals! 🙏🏻 good luck! Let us know how you get on! Ben
