Yo I appreciate the honesty re 'you make it look easy', I used to watch vids of people and think, 'man, you go on youtube and see people put fire together in like 10 minutes' then feel discouraged, when in reality thee is more behind the scenes! I'll keep this one in mind if I ever get round to making videos, but should focus on finishing an actual beat first! Peace!
The naked truth! I wish I could just turn on the camera and make a banger, but I can’t.. it’s way more that goes on behind the scenes than the actual beatmaking part y’all see. If I’m not teaching out anything, I don’t see the purpose of showing a 15min section of sampling a record and make a few decent chops. Don’t get discouraged by the movie magic that’s goin on. If my goal was to show exactly what I’m doing it wouldn’t be a 4min video. I think you should give it a try 👊🏻
Btw.. for me making these videos are therapy, letting things go.. otherwise I would just make stuff and never show anyone.. and that’s what I did for 20 years before I stared this RUclips channel.
@@BoombapArt Thanks for the encouragement, I've had an idea for a channel forming for a while, I'll look into it after completing my set up (light bars similar to the godox in the vid arriving today!) Then also I understand the therapeutic side of things, that's what started me playing guitar (also 20 years ago), then also never showing anyone what i've been doing over the years so you're on to something! Respect 👊
Very good to see your process. It takes a lot of work just to make a simple video, but it's all about the setup and testing. Once that's done, making a beat is the easy part.
Thanks man! The “you make it look easy” part.. that’s the only part that’s showing. The preparations, going through a bunch of records, skipping through songs, chopping.. that’s for livestreams! 😉👊🏻
Thanks fam! 🙏🏻💚 it’s all about working smarter, not harder. I did that mistake early on, shot everything in real-time.. but quickly changed tactics.. plus I save myself the headache of going through an hour of footage. The raw and uncut are better suited for live-streaming, in my opinion!
Thanks! I’m equally interested in the video aspect even tho it’s a new area for myself, but for the ones interested it could be somewhat helpful 🤷🏼♂️.
Fun to see how you do it. Our methods couldn't be more different which made yours really fascinating to me! Especially the way you capture the audio. Such a simple and clever way to do it.Thanks so much for sharing, my friend! In other news, we need to Collab again sometime soon. :)
Thanks B! 👊🏻 I’ve tried all types of captures, straight into the cam, using my wireless lav system and tapped the audio into my phone.. but I’ve always preferred to record the audio separately in case the cam files got corrupted for some reason. Been using GuitarRig since I started with RUclips using the MK3. How do you capture your audio? Absolutely my friend! 👊🏻
@@BoombapArt I use Loopback, a computer program, for routing in the computer. I have several different virtual interfaces set up. One is just my web browser, one is splice, one is Maschine, etc. Then I have virtual devices in Loopback that have everything I use in specific types of videos. For instance, one is Maschine, Splice, Logic, and Safari. Basically I just select whatever I want to capture. My cameras all have mics on them so I just capture the room for audio syncing. Then, my screen recording captures the pro audio. Then I just synth them up in a Multicam view inside of my video editor and cut the video accordingly. Often now, though. I record through my streaming software, ECAMM Live, and do everything in post. The software is dope because it allows me to export all of the individual audio and video layers and everything is already synced :) However, when I'm filming or recording remotely I just send all the audio into a Zoom H5 and sync it up in the edit :) It sounds complicated because of the devices, but it's just a one time setup and has been easy ever since :) Your way is WAY simpler which is awesome. I just have to have all the separate routing because I draw audio from so many different sources and don't want to unplug and replug all the time.
We have very similar steps, it’s smart to shoot intro and outer back to back! I do as well. I also script the important parts of the video topics so I can remove a lot of the uh--s and Ahh. They really get annoying during editing. But ya nice to see great minds think alike! 👊🏾💨
When I’m not “teaching “ anything, it’s more about the experience, how can I show the process in a simple but still entertaining way. I rarely script my videos unless there’s a topic and information I wanna get across. Agree, the ahh, uh, eh.. if they don’t serve a purpose I cut them out. I really enjoy the editing process where I can sculpture the video, the rhythm and pacing and deliver a certain feeling I want the viewer to feel after watching a video.
@@BoombapArt same I only script important topics etc. i also have gained a enjoyment when editing. To see ur vision come to life in itself is gratifying 👍🏾🎥
Ayo, thank you for been so open about the process 🙏 The number one problem I have is framing the shot, trying to not be repetitive and keep it interesting 😅
No problem! When it comes to framing I try to make some wide, medium and close.. sometimes I record multiple takes/angles of the same pattern so I can switch between!
great video, you explained the sequence of video creation and production well. It is not clear to me if you want to load a video for RUclips, where you set -14 lufs, in Devinci resolve or directly when recording audio tracks in Maschiene Daw. thanks for your reply.
When I’m creating I often have a cup of coffee on the desk, but never spilled anything. You could try the old rice trick.. place your device in a bag with rice and seal it, let it sit over night.
Hey man! Great video! 🙌 I know that you did a major upgrade in cameras recently, do you need to "decode" material in davinci for this new camera? Because its filmed in raw or something? Peace!
Absolutely. I think I touched on that in my workflow breakdown video, the different methods, sampling.. but I could make a new one. The knobs comes from store.djtechtools.com .. I also think I mentioned these in my “Accessories video”.
