No need to put diesel on the new fuel filter. Just open slightly the prime valve screw and then pump until fuel comes out from the prime screw. Major safety issue, never go under any vehicle just having the floor jack always place a jack stand for safety.. The floor jack hydraulic can release and the vehicle drops on you.
I had the same problem but it died in parking lot at Menards and it would not start had towed to brakes plus. Took all day but they replaced the fuel pump but it only got us home. Died again and would not start coworker is ordering a sending unit.
i see your coolant recovery tank is getting BLACK inside??? i think it exhaust fumes from a leaking Head Gasket like mine... are you starting to lose coolant??? how many miles on it.
My head gaskets are out now. This is the second time I believe. 320 thousand, it was like that when got the truck the coolant tank. So the replace job wasn't that great I have to say.
Yhea I got rid of the factory filter and primer went to cat fuel filter and water separator.. and a lift pump... bought cheap injectors 2 of them blew apart don't know how but they did.. went with a set of Bosch injectors and a new Bosch Fuel Pressure Regulator. Truck is fine now

What size constant pressure clamps did you use? On new fuel lines?

My truck a 05 lly started do the same thing you described and I wound up needn injectors
I don't need them yet. Lost prime from the poor quality of the filter gasket

Never trust a floor jack☠️ jack stands will keep you alive an healthy replace vacuum lines and fuel lines all of them a lot of heat under them hoods
Replace your fuel filter first before you do anything.

Mine won't start I replaced it but nothing
Did you check the fuel lines going to cp3 make sure there no cracks in the where air can get in.
Next thing is check the filter house for cracks or if the seals are leaking air by.

Quit buying paper filters get a pure power fuel ,you only buy it once and it lasts longer than any paper filter
