As we enter the halfway point of iRacing 2023 Season 1, Dave Cam nears the halfway point in the inaugural iRacing GR Cup Series season. Dave has been competing weekly in this new series for the new Toyota GR86, a free-with-subscription car for all iRacing users, and keeping tabs on his points standing.
This week on the official GR Cup series calendar, the series takes things home to West Virginia for a battle at Summit Point Raceway. The two-mile, or 3.219-kilometer venue includes 10 corners and a lot of chances to go off roading… but believe us, that won’t be the fast way to go about things.
Coming to the halfway point, Dave’s been able to score a second at VIRginia International Raceway, a win at Okayama International Circuit, another runner-up at Lime Rock Park, another victory at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, and last week, a fifth at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
This week, the streak of one race per week unfortunately has to end. The first attempt that Dave made at Summit Point did not go as planned, and because we’re in the business of racing content, a video cut short by incident just isn’t going to cut it. Take two… can Dave survive a second bout with Summit Point?
If the trends continue, hopefully Dave can collect another win on the season! He’s starting from the third position in his second race attempt. Will that be enough to grab another win?
