Hey man, please press F3 on your keyboard. it tells you where everyone is, instead of just the two people infront of you. I would also suggest getting racelabs, it’s free, and it tells you how much irating you go up, it can tell you what lap times you and the people around you are running, and it gives you info about the track temp and a fuel calculator for longer races. Also once you get to c class or higher, you should start qualifying, don’t start in the back, and don’t be afraid to run on people’s bumper. not many people drive for saftey rating in those races. I was super lost when I first started but now I have almost 7000 irating and I’m A-class 4.4. But honestly you’re doing great for your first time. Also I would suggest doing sim lab production car challenge as it introduces you to multi class racing.

If you want to get out of rookie class faster is to not spawn up at the start then start at the pitlane then you don't have to be next to the other people. The finish position doesn't really matter at rookie class

but that doesnt teach you any wreck avoidance. which is the most important thing in iracing lol
I recommend the Skip Barber series after rookies, it's an amazing vehicle that's fun to drive and you get some great close battles with it. Especially if you plan to do more open wheel racing in the long run.
I'm not saying I'm a pro and I've never played iRacing but I do have some tips: the throttle isn't an on/off switch, try to modulate it more in a long corner when you can't go full throttle; when turning, turn less, I think I can hear your front tires sliding (understeering) so there is time to gain there as well as stability. Personally my steering wheel is also closer to my body than in your setup.
I really like the iRacing videos, I can see you are actually improving, looking forward to the next one!
His throttle modulation is already really good, you can see that as he went through the chicane but 6eah good points to remember

After the checkered flag if you drive back to the pits it helps your SR to increase as its calculated with distance/incidents
Welcome to iRacing! I’ve been on the service since 2009 and love it. As for recommendations, it depends on what you want to aim for first. If you want to race GT cars, then go with the Ferrari GT3 challenge. If you wanna go the open wheel route, start with Skip Barber and/or Formula Renault.

Watching nick actually get better at racing is nice hut he really doesn't need to start at the back because the people who aren't the best drivers are usually always going to crash first or second corner since they're under pressure. I learned that quick playing gran turismo for years
After your rookie days are over, I can highly recomend the TCR cars. They just got 2 new cars, all with updated tiremodels and damegemodels. I personaly love the Audi RS3 TCR. It was the car that originaly got me interested in iracing.
I picked up Iracing a few days ago. Its been a blast, think I'm getting addicted as well! I got out of rookies in ovals today as well as picked up my first win! I'm pretty sure I had the same reaction hands in the air YESSS!

I think it’s be a really cool idea video idea to get out of rookies in every type of race, like what you did here but also for ovals, dirt ovals, and dirt circuits

iRacing is so cool but I prefer a one time purchase over a subscription
I'm sure you've been told or read it plenty, but SR is all about a rolling avg of incidents vs corners over the course of X amount of laps/races. The exact algorithm and math is still a secret mystery, but proximity to other or "fault" is irrelevant to safety rating. That's why it's always better to finish a race if you can even after you're screwed by a crash or whatever it may be just to get the incident free corners in.

Nick, to increase the rating quicker you don't need to start at the back and win. It is a safety rating, so speed doesn't matter as much. Safety is the key, close driving, but not banging doors will make it shoot up. Even if you are just bumper to bumper with the last guy as long as you don't touch you will be good.

Nick Ferraris and or the TCR’s are a good bang for buck choice as they are also used in other series at higher licence classes and also have heaps of people racing the /go official almost every race (being that If a race has less than 7 competitors the the results don’t go towards safety rating) so time efficient too

My favorite D class road racing is the Porsche 718 Cayman in the GT4s/TCR IMSA pilot series
If you get a high enough rating on dirt oval you could unlock. Sprint Cars. The 410 sprint car is nuts, 950 hp on dirt. That would be fun to watch.
Something you may not consider for safety rating, removing the racing line will make you faster long term but also improve safety rating because you won't be distracted from others by looking at the line.
It feels nice watching some iRacing that requires Clean racing after playing some Flatout 2

Tcr right now is tricky, but its super rewarding and the track is alot of fun once you get it right
I got out of rookies in my first 4 races and these videos are reminding me why I never went back 😂
I’d suggest jumping into the Touring Car Challenge. There’s a bit of a learning curve to the cars, but they can be extremely fun once you get the hang of how to drive them. I’d suggest staying out of the Ferrari GT3 challenge, at least for now, because those races tend to be fairly dirty, at least until you get your iRating higher. The Sim Lab Production Car Challenge can also be a bunch of fun, and a great way to get introduced into multi-class racing without spending too much, as you can keep running the MX-5 (although you’ll still have to buy some tracks, and the car may begin to get a bit boring and you may get burnt out with it from so many races in the same car). The Formula Renault 2.0 can be pretty fun, but tough to drive, especially since you started in the MX-5s instead of the formula vee’s, so I’d suggest waiting on those until you get some open wheel practice on iRacing, because it’s very different to other games like F1. The SCCA Spec Racer Ford Challenge has pretty fun cars, but only if the people around you know how to drive, which makes them a bit tough, as they can also be kinda easy to spin on downshifts and cornering.

@AR12Gaming the incident at 9:02 where that guy went off. That's only an offtrack. Not a slow down. A slow down in iRacing is when you cut a corner to much. Which he didn't do there at all. Also just because you're faster than the guy ahead he doesn't have to move at all. Even with a blue flag. It's your job to make a safe overtake and vice versa.
The SR resets at each class. That's why you see the 2.5 now. You'll have to work up to a 4.0 now to be promoted to the next license otherwise you can go to 3.0-3.99 and be promoted at the end of the 13 week season. My recommendation is to do the Global Fanatec challenge. You should already have the Cadillac for it, so you just have to buy a track.

@Nick, this game is 100x better in vr. It’s now the only way i play and makes you feel incredibly immersed. It also helps give a sense of speed
I remember watching Jimmy Broadbent getting out of rookies in like, 2-3 races where it took me like 2-3 days of grinding

Nick you should do formula Renault the Field is a little smaller than Ferrari but tighter so you get some good clean racers after turn one of course
I'm not that well versed in mx-5 racing. But I think at starts if you let the cluctch up only halfway when pulling away and fully releasing it when your rolling would help a ton. Correct me if I'm wrong
It showed 2.5 at the top because that was your current rating. It went up to 3.5 after the race, then you got promoted, resetting the SR. I would recommend that you do the Skippy series next. After that, go to D Class USF2000 or FR 2.0. After that, you can go to Indy PM18 or FR 3.5. (Assuming you want to go with open wheel cars)

FYI if someone screws you over in a race like in the 8 am clip, you can file a protest and show a clip of the incident (by using the clip feature in replay mode) and someone from iracing will review it and see if the person did it on purpose or not and they can warn, suspend, or ban that driver

Idk if it is the same for iRacing, but in Assetto Corsa Competizione your safety rating goes up more if you drive clean while racing wheel to wheel. If that is the same in iRacing maybe you should try racing people more.
Maybe I'm biased but I'd reccomend the skip barber cars there really good open wheel cars if your a rookie. Or the formula renault 2.0

I would take the Ferrari 488 gt3 as that car is fun to drive (imo) and it’s used in d, c and b class if I’m not mistaken. So you can keep on going with the same car to keep improving your skills.
