This deck is insanely fun to play lol,all I did was take my no-longer standard prowess deck and jammed in HFH and Burn Together (who cares about the sell sword part of it) and it works like a charm lol
Not that I think it's on the same level and is quite ban-worthy, but Monstrous Rage has the same feel to me as like, Faithless Looting. It's just a bit too much for the cost and being an instant, given the +1/+1 and trample sticks around (and hell there's even that potential extra 1 damage if ever required) and really is what enables mono-red and things like this to be so fast in Standard. I suspect it's gonna be the top of the new list of cards people will be happy to see gone and/or are the reason they're unhappy that rotation is so much slower.
Keeping a 1 lander on the draw in a deck with 20 lands means you have a 44% chance of not hitting your second land drop. So the question is: would you prefer to go to 6 cards or have a 44% chance of losing on the spot?
you can turn 2 if you switch the deck to black red green its just a hefty combo and if ya dont start with it in your hand Arena will do the cool thing where it wont give you the cards you need Leyline of the Guildpact Gaeas blessing Hearfire hero and callous sell sword
34:55 ok so, mon rage does like +3, right? So you got 3 from swiftie, 4 from the hero, then, if you cast it on scamp, they may kill it, but you get 1 anyways. Then you fling the hero for 10. By my count that is still lethal at 18 hp. If they kill after casting the fling, then you only get 15 damage. But you still got lethal on board. I'd say, pump the scamp.
Why Felonious Rage and no Monstrous Rage? I don't got it. And the 2 mano rare (not the mouse) is it really necessary? Isn't a draw or pump spell better?
vs midrange if you have a lot of creatures just run out the slickshots you are missing 1 dmg in the air every time they sit in exile. Plot is ONLY good vs boardwipes and green fight removal. And rarely if opponent leaves mana open instead of curving out
I miss modern budget magic. Yoy made some of the most impressive and fun modern decks for under 100 bucks and with MH3 out there have got to be plenty of options
Yeah, I mentioned that in the article. Technically the black mana is optimal because you might want to cast Callous Sell-Sword, but I don't think I've cast it a single time in all my games playing the deck.
@@MTGGoldfish I wonder how it stacks up to a general mono red aggro deck. My Bloomburrow version right now is very similar barring Sellsword and goblin. Can't deny this deck's explosive damage though.
Does it really need 8 black mana sources if we never cast Callous Sell-sword unless things go horrible and there are only 3 black cards in the sideboard
game 2 in match 1 you kinda took like the worst lines possible. You missed so much damage by plotting the showofs and then in your attacking turn you pumped the same guy twice with a deathtrigger effect making one invalid :D
And imagine, you can build this deck as Gruul. (Sell-Sword is never casted as a creature, so he is just a 1 red mana fling). Gruul is slightly better unless you want to side more black control than what SaffronOlive did in this variation of the deck.

Seth, have you tried flinging all the goyf style creatures? Then you could call it Milfling
This is why i quit magic. Standard is never supposed to be over on t3
I can vouch its a good deck :) piloted it into the top 10 mythic a few days ago
We have something like this in Pioneer too
Why Felonious Rage and no Monstrous Rage? I don't got it. And the 2 mano rare (not the mouse) is it really necessary? Isn't a draw or pump spell better?
Is this a good time to get into magic if I like ramp decks?
vs midrange if you have a lot of creatures just run out the slickshots you are missing 1 dmg in the air every time they sit in exile. Plot is ONLY good vs boardwipes and green fight removal. And rarely if opponent leaves mana open instead of curving out
I wonder if a Non-Budget Modern or Pioneer version of this would be competitive enough to be like tier 2?
I miss modern budget magic. Yoy made some of the most impressive and fun modern decks for under 100 bucks and with MH3 out there have got to be plenty of options
I wonder if it's good enough for Modern.
Seems like you could cut the black lands entirely and make it even cheaper is you wanted. Cool deck! BO1 is going to be nuts for a while I think!
@saffronolive bro, can you make this into a budget modern deck?
Can't wait for Seth to build the boros synth pauper deck in standard... even if the standard version is best in azorius and synth is gone
In explorer we have 12 creatures, 8+ flings, and infuriate for this deck. Talk about consistency
"Goal-Garry" 😂
What's this about Innkeeper's Talent on AtO? Did I miss a video somewhere??
Did you see that the Slingshot still got a +2/+0 when you sacrificed it?
Does it really need 8 black mana sources if we never cast Callous Sell-sword unless things go horrible and there are only 3 black cards in the sideboard
That is freaking nuts on first game you could do 20 damage on turn 3.
I really hope the next podcast is just "Is magic just red aggro in 2024" or the like, because it's time people addressed the cancer...
game 2 in match 1 you kinda took like the worst lines possible. You missed so much damage by plotting the showofs and then in your attacking turn you pumped the same guy twice with a deathtrigger effect making one invalid :D
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I played that game wrong.
I wounder how this deck would look in Explorer and historic what would changed form them extra sets other then the mana base
And imagine, you can build this deck as Gruul. (Sell-Sword is never casted as a creature, so he is just a 1 red mana fling). Gruul is slightly better unless you want to side more black control than what SaffronOlive did in this variation of the deck.
What is the green for?
@@zofficialone6214 hexproof pump spells, pick your poison, etc
@@zofficialone6214 Green also offers a ton of buff instant spells, such as Giant Growth.
The version of bats I play hasnt lost to this deck yet.
This works even better in gruul
It's odd seeing this played in bo3
I made a variant of this deck myself. I called it "Exploding Mice"
How do you copy this decklist into Magic Online?
Never heard of the word Cacaphany before.
Dang it! was rocking this all yesterday and you had to go and make a video about it!
This deck is also great in Jund colors
Been playing a version of this deck and its great!!!
What changes have you been using? I brought in some copies of demonic ruckus and ditched codebreaker
@@elambruce7491 I really disliked codebreaker too!!! I've swapped the slot a lot for better or worse but I do like a copy or two of lighting strike. I'm not really sure if it's any better but I played a few matches yesterday from bronze to gold without much issue so we'll see if I go any higher from here lol
I love this deck great to climb up the ladder with , went from bronze to gold in a matter of hours
this deck has helped me get my foot in the door as a new player in standard (arena) thank you for making your videos
This deck has been all over BO1 ladder.. always annoying to play against.
The power creep is real... this deck warps the entire format. This type of deck, and black type death spell deck, sweepers are too slow, and almost everything has haste invalidating certain cards. 😂🎉🎉😢😮
