  • The very last exterior covering is done! We love how the PVC board and batten turned out - it is clean and smooth, with no exposed fasteners.
    Two more videos yet to come with details of how we did the mitered corners and window & door trims! This video was long enough as-is 😁

    35:06 Use expanding foam to fill in the area around the exterior light sockets behind the trim board to keep wasp out. Also, make sure the top and both sides of the light fixture base are caulked, while the bottom of the fixture is NOT caulked

      Looks amazing. What brand are the 4x8 sheets and did you get them at Home Depot also?

      Thank you both! Yes, the 4x8 sheets are also from Home Depot. They are Veranda brand. I added a link to the description so you can see what we purchased.

    Working my whole life in the construction industry I always thought the pictures of people using some sort of ladder supported by hydraulic equipment we see in safety meetings were only from “third world” countries! Haha Gotta love wearing a respirator when cutting PVC, to then install it standing on a platform supported by a skidsteer! Made my day

    • @MasonDixonAcres

      Nothing building related, mechanical engineering for a defense contractor!

    My friend, you're an engineer! Right? I was counting on you to make a jig for the battens instead of measuring every one 😁though I'm guessing there is a good reason? Edit - Ah! 30 min. in a jig appeared! Bravo! Edit - also the smoothness of the siding, especially if the finish product will remain white, will keep it much cleaner. Hardie board has beautiful grain but will defiantly catch and hold on to the dirt/fallout.

    How did you plan for thermal expansion of these PVC sheets?

    • @MasonDixonAcres
      @MasonDixonAcres  6 месяцев назад +2

      No need, they are thick enough that they don't warp when fastened to a flat surface unlike typical vinyl siding systems

  • @binarypatrick

    at 10:01 you fold the slicker max screen under itself to mount the first layer. Won't that catch water in the fold and prevent it from draining out?

    • @MasonDixonAcres
      @MasonDixonAcres  6 месяцев назад +1

      Nope it’s actually their recommended detail for the first course as a bug screen! The outer layer is filter fabric, water easily drains through
