This setup is great to have. The 90d produces some great images, and can be used in almost every scenario. The dynamic range is pretty good as well for a crop sensor. Also, the sigma lens is very sharp and it can be used for video or photo, that’s what makes it so great. Good content,
A very versatile setup!
I purchased the 90D and paired it with this lens in no small part to this video. 😊 I am still very much an amateur and I love how this combo gives me excellent results. People comment on my family photos, especially when set to f1.8! In a world where everyone is claiming that you need to go mirrorless, I love that I can get such wonderful photos on a modest budget. It’s still over $2,000 for this combo but SO worth it!
This is what i shoot all of my content with. Fantastic combo
I own the same combo, and let's just say I'm enjoying this match. I've been doing a ton of street photography and RUclips videos (until uni got hard and I had to temporarily stop) ever since I got this combo, and I love it!
So do I. Isn't it awesome! ;)
@@-WhizzBang- so far I'm loving it!
Bought the sigma 18-35 used from Adorama and love it on my 90D. Going to do some street shots soon!
Great video! I have a 90d and I'm in market to upgrade from some of the kit lenses.
I absolutely love the Sigma line of lenses. I too am upgrading little by little. If you haven’t already, try the Sigma DC 18-250mm f3.5-6.3. Awesome all around lens which is light and has great range.
I'm using this exact combo. Great photo! I actually like the weight of the lens as it somehow compensate my hand shaking (yes, additional weight can somehow mitigate the problem, at least it works for me). The only problem is 90D body is way too small and every time I press the shutter my right hand fingers movement make the camera move a bit and hence make the photo not sharp enough. I have to put a pack of tissue between my right palm and the right side of 90D so that my right index finger tip is right at the shutter button. I wish there's some aftermarket "fat" grip available, particularly for the even substantially smaller bodies RF mirrorless series. (I'm not talking about the battery grip, I really mean the fat grip in lateral direction which fill up the huge gap between my right palm and the right side of the camera body yet make the tip of right index finger comfortably locates on the shutter button)
I have 90d and planning to buy this lens
got the lens on sunday used for 450$ almost new . and it works fantasticly with my 90d.
do u need an adapter?
@@octoman_games no not for the 90d since its an ef lens ,
but if you use a r6 og r7 or other RF body you need a EF to RF adapter
How does it work for stills with no
Image stabilization? I’m looking to upgrade my 77D and have the 17-55 2.8 but want som thing “better”. I’m not interested in the mirrorless as I like the robust dslr size
Hey RichMe what are your thoughts on the fact that it doesn't have Image Stabilization, I shoot video so I have some concern on the footage being shaky
I have the exact same as well, and I love it.
It's truly underrated
@@RichMeYT in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing, this camera lens combo can produce results just as good as cameras and lenses that are 3 times as expensive!
I wonder if this Combo would balance on the ronin rsc2 😵💫
probably late but, the sigma lens is made for aps-c size sensors. You dont need to crop 1.6x. 18mm is 18mm not ~28mm
True focal length is indeed 18mm, however the effective field of view (FOV) is determined by the camera sensor size, which for the 90D is a 1.6X crop.
@@sbromley6739
The lens' flange distance is corrected for the smaller sensor size. No need to take the 1.6x crop into account for this particular lens.
The lens is for the EF mount but the actual flange distance is made for EF-S. Otherwise you'd get no vignetting with full-frame R series cameras when using the 24mm adapter (normal flange distance for EOS-D series is 44mm. R series is 20mm).
Hey great lens it is, i have ordered it am just concerned about the autofocus issue which is i am primarily concerned about recalibrating don’t know how to do that and also haven’t ordered the dock for the combo. What are your thoughts did you have to recalibrate of yes then how.
Bonjour
Great review ... thanks
What is your favorite setting for portraiture (indoor or outdoor) on this combo?
f/1.8 ALWAYS for that extreme blur :), ISO 100, F/250-1500 depending on the sun
Question- Do we need an adapter for this with the 90d or is it directly compatible?
Directly compatible
Even better on Canon R7
I have 90D. Using with sigma 85 f1.4 and 24-70 f2.8, shortly buying 20mm 1.4. Zoom lens doesnt cut it, f.2.8 makes it lacking.
If I'm buying this combo for my RUclips page, how do I quiet the noise from the lens so it's not heard in the videos? HELP!
buy a shotgun mic or another microphone!
I’m upgrading from a canon d7 mark 2 and would like to keep my lenses. I’m upgrading due to video capability what camera is best for my old sigma lenses? Without buying new mounts. Ty subbed!
Let me say that sigma 18-35 works with crop sensor's camera so if u wanna upgrade ur current 7d m ii : u can choose between canon 800d , 850d or 90d only body in order to use ur sigma lenses as well 👊😎📸 good luck
I just bought this lense, but can’t get it to attach to my body. Do you have an ef-EOS adapter?
This lens is for cropped camera's. Though the mount is EF, it should only be used for EF-S.
I have just bought this camera and have a Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 lens.I simply cannot balance this combo on a Zhiyun Weebil S gimbal. Any suggestions?
No clue, my friend ran into the same problem as well. the Sigma lens is pretty heavy :/
@@RichMeYT Finally balanced it!
@@Richardvanschalkwyk how let us know?
@@Thedivinevision.19 Mostly trial and error. I have to set the camera as far back on the weebill as possible and then start balancing from there.
I have a front focus problem with this lens some solution?
I got front focus as well. It's a common problem...
Did you have to get the sigma usb dock to adjust focus for 90d
I was considering it, but i never got it
@@RichMeYT how did you adjust focus when using viewfinder?
Autofocus through the OVF (phase shift autofocus) is horribly off. Lots of front focusing. In-camera correction yield no reliable results. I don't have the dock, I read that sometimes helps. But I also read the autofocus on many copies of this particular lens can be quite shotty with most copies.
Will take mine back to the store to have it checked proper since I am still within 30 day buying period.
I really want to keep (any of these if I get a replacement, or two). The lens is really sharp (if focus in proper...) and the wide angle is just perfect for a lot of things. Especially since it's aspherical.
There's lot of adverse reviews about the low resolving power of the 90D...your view?
Sorry for the late reply. I have no issues personally.
@@RichMeYT thnks😃
Surely resolving power is something that afffects a lens, not a camera?
Nice, well i have the Sigma 17-50 2.8. And I having trouble with the AF. I have 90 d Also. my pictures some are out of Focus. Do u have problems with this lens of it focus fast I do A lot of photography, but I do video some times . Help here thank you.
My autofocus gets buggy sometimes, but it really is up to the lens. I used my cheap 18-55mm on by canon and it focuses fast
Sigma lens on any Canon Camera must be used on live view to solve the AF problems
👍👍
