    Warlock tip - should be a good fit for your build - take the friends cantrip instead of mage hand (or make Friends your 3rd cantrip when you get it). and the Mask of Many Faces
    Invocation - allows You can cast Disguise Self at will, without expending a spell slot. This way you can disguise yourself, then cast friends cantrip on the guard or whomever, but when it wears off, you will have dropped your disguise, soo they aren't mad at you - the are mad at the person who you disguised yourself as. This was a tip from another video I watched, not mine - but I think it would be a great fit for your character

      Lots of ways to do it. I dont have the friends cantrip I use minor illusion and have pact of the chain. Send the imp in and have him scout. Or have him carry your genie bottle in with him and pop out.
      To clarify use minor illusion to create a box or crate and just hide inside the illusion.

    Genie warlock can actually flip the standard warlock pact background, where the warlock sought out and signed a deal with a patron in exchange for power. The Genlock can get his power by finding an imprisoned genie, and so the warlock has all the leverage in negotiating the warlock pact instead of the patron.

    • @WallyDM

      Whoa. This would be absolutely crazy. I'd love to see this play out in a campaign. Sounds like an amazing story. Thanks for the ideas, cheers!

      You could have also made a deal with a hag, and got a cursed magic cauldron (the genies vessel) that you can hide inside of, and whenever you fly they are inside of the cauldron and that is what is flying. This just fits some of the spooky spells and invocations better (such as hex, hunger of hadar, devils sight, and lots more spooky stuff). And if you want to not have to assist the patron, the hag could have given it to you for free, but the item has a terrible curse (I would say the curse is a dark gift, which can be found in Van Richens guide to ravenloft). Your character would also probably be turned into a hexblood.

    Mind Sliver followed by Hold Person could be really effective. I like how you are staying thematic, though. Mirror seems like a mirage, which fits with genie’s and such.

    The Genie Warlock has become my favorite class to play. I built an “Air Bender” based on a Mountain Dwarf with the Strength modifier moved to Dexterity, and took the Dwarven Fortitude and Durable feats so he could self heal during combat. Love it!

      When the Warlock was introduced back in 3.0, it was this really flexible structure to build comic book style super heroes with. I built Batman, an Eldritch Boxer, Superman, it was such a fun addition to the game.
      In 5e, the Genie Warlock brings that nostalgic fun back to the class, in my opinion.

    Something to consider with the Talisman. If you are focusing on manipulation, you can easily use it to barter, trading that bonus for future favors. And if you feel the need to backstab the person that has it, you can then perform your ceremony, and break the deal within the hour. This works especially well if you got your favor in advance.

    Nice video !
    I've been thinking about a Djinn warlock build for weeks. Because I like the idea of genie and vessel, and I'd like a character who's a master of thunder and lightning. But in the end, there aren't many lightning spells in the warlock list, just thunder spells.
    So I was wondering if it might be interesting to have a djinni/storm sorcerer warlock to have metamagic, wind speaker and tempestous magic, but I'd have to take it up to lvl 5 to get lightning bolt...
    There's also the tempest cleric, which could be really cool with just 2 lvl for Wrath of the Storm and Destructive Warth.
    But that's too much multiclassing and I think the next campaign will be a lvl 1-12 and I'm not sure where to turn.
    I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DOOOO !!! :D

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  10 месяцев назад +1

      Ya know, if its just lightning spells you are after, maybe speak with your GM and ask if your Patron would bestow your character with a magic item that turns your Eldritch Blast into lightning instead of force? Or, maybe all of your attacks for that matter. Something as simple as a magic ring that lets you replace magic damage types with lightning or thunder. In addition, ask your GM if you can get Chromatic Orb in your Warlock spell list. It can do thunder and lightning as well.
      Another option, for like Lightning Bolt, is to ask your GM if your Patron could bestow upon your character a Wand of Lightning Bolts or a Spell Storing Ring that has lightning bases spells. As a GM, I would love this. It includes interaction with your Patron AND the possibility of going on sidequests in order to do something for your patron in exchange for these powers.
      If it were me, that's what I would do. I mean, there is still good things you can do with multiclassing. Tempest cleric and Storm Sorcerer are both valid options. Also, if you stayed with Warlock, you can get metamagic feat at level 4 to get a few sorcerery points and use the new metamagic that allows you to change damage types. And, the Order of Scribes Wizard at level 2 also allows you to change the damage type of spells with some limitations.
      Hope this helps!

    Hey Wally, excellent video! Genasi-Genie-Warlock what a crazy combo. The personal genie bottle has so many role playing uses. Lets say there is a Trap, Jenaya falls into a locking pit trap that starts to fill with water. No worries, Jenaya just hops into her bottle until the party figures out how to get to her or the caretakers of the dungeon come to see what got caught. Limited Wish Spell, never thought I would see the day that 5e would bring this spell back. Looks like they did a good job of refining this spell to fit 5e.

    Genie Warlock is so good I'm even considering my Druid dipping a level just to get access to its features.
    Armor of Agathys and Hellish Rebuke would be major boons in battlez along with the extra damage from Genies Wrath. And I just love the Bottled Respite feature, although it sucks that you can only enter it once per long rest. If you could somehow enter it a second time I would be happy. A 20 foot radius is pretty huge, that's a 12 metre diameter! That's just a bit smaller than the inside of a bag of Holding.
    I also kind of want to see the look on the DMs face when I do something like summon a flying familiar, give the familiar the vessel and then instruct it to fly at full speed until ten minutes before time expires. So much room for shenanigans...

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  3 года назад +2

      Haha! Agreed. The more and more I see folks ideas with the Genie Warlock, the more I absolutely love it. I really dig the flying familiar idea. That's amazing. Oh, hey, I know! You have to have a parrot and name him Lago (from the Disney Aladdin movie)... yes! Haha, cheers!

    • @crookedclown9499
      @crookedclown9499 3 года назад +2

      @@WallyDM another thing I only realised after converting feet to metres: the vessels interior is MASSIVE! It has a 12m diameter and 12m height. That's more than enough room to have TWO floors!
      If you can design the interior of the vessel than you could easily have two floors with enough room for some walls to separate into rooms and a flight of stairs.
      At level 1 you have what is essentially a panic room where you can peace out at any time to take a bath, eat some rations, count your gold, do your taxes, take a nap or do some light reading. Keep all your shit in there.
      It will be somewhat awkward when the enemy lands a hit on your vessel and your mattress and several bookcases materialise out of nowhere...

    • @pylons5485
      @pylons5485 3 года назад

      I don't understand why people say that Armor of Agathys is so good. 5 temp hitpoints? I know eventually it scales up but like, even by 10th level you only have 2 spell slots. 25 temp HP at level 10 isn't worth spending HALF of your available spell slots at the beginning of each battle. Plus it takes an action to activate.
      Unless I'm misunderstanding something, in which, please explain.

    I know you are showing off Tasha but if not:
    I would not bother with Arcana and get Persuasion. That plus mask of many faces and friends is a great combo. The third thing that makes it work is Chain Master so you can use the familiar to set yourself up with the best face and info to use against your target.

One of my favorite concepts is that hex isnt only a combat spell. It gives disadvantage on ability checks off your choice. Are you needing to deceive someone?
