Still love this old song! I like to incorporate the open A and D strings into the main riff instead of fretting at the 5th fret. Sometimes I will hit the G on the 3rd fret of the low E (fretted with thumb) on the third (and 7th) downbeat right after the G on the D string 5th fret. You can also begin the riff with a B flat on the low E string. Corky's drumming is great too!
I always got the impression that LW wasn't exactly in love with Steve, and that he was Felix's addition to fill out their sound. If that's true, then too bad Leslie, Mr. Knight played a key role in Mountain's success.
Unfortunately, I find this to be a bare bones explanation of a slitely more complex guitar track...!!! I personally do it more beefy...!!! The pinch harmonics add a lot...!!!
Oh no no no , Sorry This is not quite correct in many many key areas . P.S. Something else you said reminds me, , Why is it that a lesson can't ever just be - a guy posting a lesson he's worked oot , but instead, it always has to be that he's posting only because it was requested by his followers/fans..
I got the sheet music book from sheetmusic.com. After the 32323232 on the A string, 3 on E string it then goes: E 3b A0,D2,D2G2 G2B5 A0DPG0 Chords on verse are C7 and Bb5.
Really ???? Tell me where u live give you a lesson...😥😥😥 out of tune ! Wrong sound! Middle pickup ??? On a les Paul? Doesn’t come close to a p 90... try a big muff or Dunlop fuzz
Great Lesson, love Mountain and saw them with Deep Purple. Any chance of a Lesson on Nantucket Sleighride!!
Jon
dude, thanks! Long live the King of Tone
That's a pretty rough rendition.
This is actually in D min pentatonic. That lick is the 3rd position of D minor pentatonic

This is the kind of comment that I like to see on here - one that adds information that people can use. Thanks!
Power trio if you don't count the keyboard player.
Steve Knight was on The Keyboard

In the first verse, is he using a C7? How would the fingerings be on the C7? In the book Best of Mountain, it shows the C7. Get back to me.
Sorry dude, that is rank. The rif should sound like something by Cream.

Practise a bit....
Actually there were 4 members in that band. Not a trio !!!
@Mark D sorry boy. Saw them in a high school gym in Hillside, Ill. 1968. They were a fucking TRIO! So stfu with your wrong statements

I agree. All in all, pretty awful really.
That was pretty crap.
Thank you with a basic to start with but not quite there. Not your best performance, at least let's hope so.
SO BAD, SORRY BUT IT IS
