I look forward to seeing these in their native habitat, at the local Costco.
Parked crooked in three spots
Cool as hell truck, but yeah they all end up as mall crawlers and bros trying to show off.
Can load up a 72” flat screen in this bad boy 😤 money well spent
Definitely lots that will never get dirty
Go out west and they do get used, but in Colorado where I live they are very much mall crawlers
For a guy who was introduced as most decidedly NOT a "marketing guy" he sure ended up sounding just like one on many occasions.
...when he's saying "V6 Raptor" instead of "EcoBoost Raptor", and complaining about touch screens with Jay when new Fords like the '24 Mustang are getting even bigger touch screens?
When Jay asked about the warranty off-road the guy was so noncommittal.
No kidding
@@galactictomato1434 One of my favourite moments was the tactful and yet also amusing manner in which Jay called him out on his BS in response to his claim that its appearance is "subtle"!
He's a TECHNICAL PM..he just knows a LITTLE bit tech stuff..definitely not an Engineer.
If we did a drinking game for "right", I'd be hammered in about a minute.
Thanks for the laugh...!
I can't stop hearing it, probably cause he can't stop saying it
Lol literally came to the comments to look for this.
Lol me too. Dude is hard to watch and listen to.
"Right" Count needed. 😂
When it puts that big of a smile on Jay's face, you know it is something special!
Because he's wealthy.
@@jcoats5529 Because he has driven everything there is, for longer than double my lifespan! When you have driven that much, the novelty would definitely fade, after awhile. So seeing him genuinely light up, as he did, let's me know this is a special truck!
Ppl say this about my wife. Always walking around smiling, while I walk around bow legged, limping and can't talk cause my tongue is numb. But happy wife, happy life. So what if I lose taste buds every year. Better than buying useless crap every occasion.
My family has always used the key pad. I just got an f150 and am so happy it’s still there. Going tubing, gym, crowd surfing at concert, anywhere you might lose your keys, leaving the keys locked in is so nice.
I know these guys are crazy I would love the keypad for going to the gym or going hiking I don't always want to carry my keys. Everybody I know who owns a Ford with the keypad loves the keypad. Literally everyone. Why other car makers have not done this I do not know.
Dudes 100 % salesman
Agreed, no enginerd about him.
Right.
@@fry.master Simple way to tell, engineers actually use technical language. This guy just kept blabbing sales/marketing crap.
@@SuperGuyKY Even easier. No iron ring, no engineer.
Exactly what I was thinking
0:15 That grin from feeling it’s power. Every gear head knows that feeling.
What power? The power of gay?
Lol I got one of the last 4.7 v8 jeep grand cheeroke's its 4wd all the time and I break loose all off them at a stop sign
@@trevorpollooverrated reply from you to be honest
I also thought it was funny that Jay kept asking technical questions and the engineer/salesman kept diverting his answers into a marketing commercial. 😅
I use the door keypad on my F150 all the time, love it! (and the truck, it’s fantastic and zero issues in three years so far)
sure you do shirley for sure
The keypad was the only way I could get into my 95 Grand Marquis. Now I'm lost when I have a car without it. I use the keypad on my 15 Fusion every morning when I need to get something out of my car, or when I go for a walk with basketball shorts on and don't want my keys hitting my sack the whole time.
Nice to be able to get something out of my truck without bringing my key with me.
@@jpadilla21 Yes because a key is so heavy and awkward to carry and use.
It’s useless now because you can’t hide your keys inside when you go snowboarding or riding dirt bikes. You have to carry the keys now, and might as well push the buttons on the fob.
Love the way Jay cackles when he puts his foot into it. He’s one of us.
Interesting video, Jay, who has many vehicles in every range, seemed honestly impressed by the Raptor R. He mentioned he did some preview of the truck beforehand so he didn’t go into the test blind. He knew what others had said , good and bad, and seemed impressed by the level of engineering, fit, and finish. I can see Jay having a Raptor R as a daily driver and popping a smile as he punched the gas just to feel the roar.
😂😂
Genuine Jay can see right through this salesman!
"Not a marketing guy" did a lot of marketing
Jay must have been paid for this. There's no way he could have done it otherwise. This guy is a total salesman. He can't say no, and Jay never challenges.
The length of the video suggests it's an ad. These companies treat Jay right so he treats them right. But it's an ad.
Every new car video of his that features someone from the company is definitely an ad lol
@@Monoman2345 He used to not be this way.
of corse they were both paid for this, and by watching the ads you actually helped pay
I don't have a Raptor or Raptor R, but I'm getting over 20 mpg combined in my 5.0 tremor with 3:73 gears (if I recall correctly), so mileage is obviously getting better all the time. I haven't supercharged the tremor (yet), but I'm contemplating it. I bought the v-8 specifically because I thought I might supercharge it but having the 20 mpg in a full-size truck with 400 hp is giving me a little pause. Peace, Love!!
That’s the truck I want, but just can’t swing $75K right now, much less the $111K for the Raptor R.
But I would like to go back to a v-8 before they stop making them. I guess that’ll be after I have some fun with my Bronco.
20-mpg on a v-8 Tremor…that’s incredible…my 3.5 boost never did that for me.
@@michaelparsons541 I was absolutely shocked at the mpg. I checked the first couple tanks and I'm checking the current one. I'm a little over 3K miles and I've never owned a vehicle that got better than advertised mileage. Hell, I don't know if I've ever owned a vehicle that got advertised mileage. I wonder if Ford is pushing the eco-boost because they have so much invested in it. The eco is a very powerful engine. This was a special-order truck, but it only took a month for me to get it. I really only bought the truck because my company needed work trucks and my personal truck had been super reliable and a great off roader, so I sold it to them (us/me) to save $20K over buying a new truck. Peace, Love!!
I was also thinking about getting a TREMOR with the 5.0, until I found out they have Cylinder Deactivation. It's now a No go for me. Good Luck.
@@MickeyR6 Mine has the cylinder deactivation, but it won't once I add the supercharger. You can also just unplug that battery lead. Then again, I am getting over 20 mpg combined right now, so there is that. The cylinder deactivation is just stopping fuel flow to those cylinders from what I understand, but I shared your concern. Peace, Love!!
@@michaelparsons541 you'd have to be a yuppie clown to pay that much for a truck. by a sports car
0:30 the raptor also makes a great grocery getter too! You'll need all 700 hp for those cheerios!
The ford guy said "right" approximately 10 million times
He's ford's yes man

Great video. Keep up the good work Jay, thanks for uploading!
Keep up the good work Jay..Love your channel.
Its a nice truck. I hope all the f series gets better. Makes me nervous seeing some of these decisions they make but others are impressive. We put a big boulder in an f150 and moved it across the country
The Key Pad entry is handy if you lose your keys/fob while out hiking fishing etc. Or somehow lock them in the Truck.
Jay is a national treasure!
This feels like Jay walked into a dealership and the guy at the door told him he's actually an engineer 😊
Greeted at the door by captain asskisser who knows nothing that's not listed on the brochure. He literally talks empty words for 20 minutes
Anyone who says “right” in every sentence should stop talking.
I hate when salesmen finish a statement with...”Right”. Maybe it’s wrong.
I couldn't watch it because of (write, right, Wright, rite) it drove me crazy....
A way of those lacking confidence to try to transfer an idea as fact that they themselves feel doubt over. Alternatives? 1) just bold-face lie 2) sell on the merits, and discuss the negatives if they come up at face value.
People also do that when they’re just plain arrogant or have a superiority complex.
I’ve never met the guy so I can’t say one way or t’other but if you just stick to the merits you can get through with your integrity intact.
This interview was painful to watch because of the amount of times he’s said “right” 😅
@@alexgrindnshine2522 I could not finish it because of it.
01:50 For an Engineer and not a "Marketing Guy", this guy sure sounds like "a Marketing Guy". 😅🤣😂
No kidding. The only phrase he left out was "In order to maximize the user experience...". 😵
BS - Chemistry, MBA - Finance. No engineering degree, not an engineer. His role at Ford prior to being the Raptor Program Manager was Finance Analyst. As far as automotive is concerned he's money/business guy.
Anyone who is passionate about cars and trucks are going to sound like that.
@@andronicase Oh yes, that's exactly how the guy at "Vice Grip Garage" speaks.
He's a Program manager, they are good in marketing as they need to market the senior mgmt how well the program is going and the output is, so he has to do pseudo marketing internally anyways which comes handy here in this interview 🙂
WhooooooHooooooo finally Jay Leno Garage is in 4K no less❣.....Thanks Mr America Jay Leno 👍
Once again Jay says: "Lane lines? I don't need no stinking lane lines!"

So you’d rather me just park my TRX in the woods/desert and never see it on the street? Imagine being so dumb, you think I can’t go to the grocery store in MY 100k truck 🫵🏽🤡
Yay, another model that dealers will get 1 of and sell for 50K over sticker.
And will probably have some sort of recalls in the future lol
Cry about it 😭
Ive always daily driven modified 4x4s and the ones i built when i was younger rode terribly on road ill admit that but my favorite thing about daily driving our jeeps nowadays is how soft and comfortable the ride is going over bumps and curbs and pot holes speed bumps all of it is really just a fun ride. Our jeeps are pretty extreme compared to the raptor since so much is custom built and aftermarket but i can totally understand the appeal to someone who isn't into off-road 4x4 stuff wanting to daily drive one of these. Our jeeps arent built for racing like the raptor is more geared towards desert racing trophy truck type stuff but i do understand the soft ride and handling of a quality suspension it really is nice to bomb down a dirt road with a super smooth ride or drive around town floating over crap roads and things. One thing thats amazing is the stability and capability of these trucks right off the showroom floor, i am not a ford person at all whatsoever but these raptor trucks are a lot of fun. I think its so cool that company's are building vehicles to be this capable and powerful. I dont think we are going to have these sorts of vehicles available new for a whole lot longer i hope im wrong but it feels like some of these awesome vehicles are coming to an end with the push for electric and little putt putt cars. Modern gas engine technology is just so cool too pushing that much horsepower reliably in a stock vehicle with a warranty although id argue some arent as reliable as others its still really good.
Jay love seeing you still posting your fantastic informative videos. Hope you are healing up well and I'm still jealous of your garage.😎
I wish Ford wouldn't force you into the expensive Pep Boys decal package.

7:53 I buy only Ford Trucks because I like them better but also the keypad. Leave the keys in it, running engine with my dog in A/C or heater, and just shut the door, push bottom two buttons and I know he’s safe and secure while I make my daily deliveries. That keypad is such a handy feature. I do wish Ford put an immobilizer code on the center screen that, even with the key fob you can’t put it in drive (or, say, drive over 15 mph) without a numerical code entered onto Sync 4 screen (or also from your app) This would cut down truck theft to next to none. This feature could be activated or deactivated from the app or left on so that if you’re in say Texas, you can leave the truck knowing that even if thrives pop your door handle, they won’t be getting very far. And why doesn’t Ford alert you on the app if the thing is started when it’s not supposed to be?! These things could simply be made available as over-air updates!
We brought this dynamic product to market so the consumer could experience the quality that they deserve
'Not a marketing guy' - it was ONLY marketing sales. lol.
Dealer “market adjustments” on this truck are insane. Now Ford is making available a dealer installed supercharger for 5.0L F150’s with a 3 yr warranty. Horsepower will be 650+. Knowing how California dealers work, that supercharged F150 will likely get market adjustments that could drive the msrp closer to the RaptorR. Fast trucks, but expensive.
Finally got the V8 with a supercharger
V6 just doesn’t cut it
V8 sound can’t be matched by any V6
Well done Ford
Long live the V8
Thanks Jay😎
You know what would be more impressive than that 10 speed? A manual transmission.
imagine shifting 10 gears!
Absolutely. I don't care that it's slower, it's more enjoyable to me.
You don't want a manual on this truck. It has paddle shifters and I've pretty much never used them. When you are getting after it offroad you don't want to be screwing with gearing.
@@justonemori Well it IS a TRUCK right? Why not offer customers that authentic Semi-Truck 'Tractor Trailer/Big-Rig' experience with multiple 'ranges' and 18 total gears!
@@T4nkcommander with off roading I do prefer an auto, the slip of a torque converter is beneficial.
But for everything else, a 6 speed (5 speed with a crawl gear) would make me happy as hell.
Finally a proper v8 in the raptor. I was never sold on the v6. So i kept my og raptor with the 6.2
I’ve never wanted a Ford raptor more than now
I watch many of Jays videos and yes it’s true, he does travel down memory lane a bit but I sure enjoy the fantastic history that Jay has learned and with that he really is teaching us so much about automotive progression and innovation. If he goes before I do, I will miss these small impactful lessons. KEEP ON KEEPIN’ ON JAY !!!
Love the color too. My neighbor has the TRX and it's beautiful. Love to park this truck next to his.
Keeping up with the Jones
I got a Ranger Tremor because it's all that was available when I washed a base model. Anyways, their point about the bad roads is so valid. I'm in Alaska, our roads are horrendous. The off-road suspension and tires really help driving dynamics if you live somewhere with questionable road surfaces.
Didn’t even talk about the live valve fox shocks or the active exhaust I think I should’ve been with Jay 😂
I feel like I still don't know anything about this truck except for the horse power and torque numbers SMH. They Puck car reps as well as they use draft picks for the lions.

Always good to a new video from Jay...Raptor R is a beast!
In a way speed shops are in their hay-days too Jay...just plugging in a laptop and a few clicks later you have more horse power among other things too.
My '05 F150 had that keypad entry when I bought the truck. I thought it would be a useless feature, and turned out to be the most useful feature I ever experienced.
I absolutely love the keypad on the door. Great for going snowboarding or swimming without your keys
Going to the dunes (sand buggies)
Drop the keys into the sand and you'll never see them again.
Leave the key in the truck and use the keypad.

Probably the best vehicle Ford builds right now.
Nothing rides better than a raptor.
I agree. My buddy had an f450 and a raptor, he refused to drive the raptor and he kept having heart attacks. I kept saying it's because the f450 rides harder than a dump truck. The raptor is definitely America's Cadillac these days
Now that you say it, manufacturers don't try for ride comfort anymore. It's all about styling and who can piss harder. Even the rolls royces don't focus on ride comfort, probably because rolling on 15" wheels isn't acceptable anymore
Trx and a Cadillac
@@Hayden_gearheart raptor is definitely smoother than a new escalade. I've never been in a trx

Jay, Woburn High, Class of '67. Loved seeing you at Lennie's and in the Zone back in the day. Best stand-up ever. You haven't lost a step. God Bless You!
We decided to lose the leaf springs on the Raptor, not for stability, but because the TRX didnt have leaf springs and they needed to step up their game. I had the Gen 2 Raptor the Leaf springs sucked on the lighter Raptor. Coils are so much better and I love my TRX. I think the Raptor R is an awesome truck, but not for 110k base price. I had a hard time justifying the 82k price tag on my 97k MSRP TRX.....

Crazy how in this age of electrification Dodge and Ford are still going at each other with these crazy powerful, gas-guzzling V8 trucks.
If they can still sell them, they will still build them.. capitalism 101.
Offroading with 4,000 lbs of battery, is counterproductive. BEV's remain useless for many scenarios.

I remember going taking some of the mountain roads around Silverton, CO several years ago in our old 96 Jeep XJ. We were with a few other new Wranglers that were all decked out with probably $10-20k worth of off-road stuff. All the guys driving those were all excited and happy to talk about all the stuff they put on their Wranglers. Our XJ was pretty modest and close to stock and we kept up just fine, but they had to remark saying how our XJ probably wouldn’t make it out there. Then we were coming down off the trail and saw an old school bus and old Honda Accord back on the trails. And I sort of just laughed at those Jeep guys who thought they were high and mighty in their fancy off-road wranglers and then they saw that a old beat-up Honda Accord could do the trails we were doing . They had spent $50-70k on their jeeps to do nothing more than what a basic car could do. When I see these Raptors, I get the same feeling.
Do you drink Mountain Dew? Is your name Justin? Is a Slim Jim your daily lunch? Do you want a truck three times the cost of your house? Ford can help.
To be honest I just found the fellow talked too much, Jay would make a comment and he would be off with his spiel in detail. I sort of got the feeling he was not really interested in what Jay had to say... I like to hear Jay talk, he is interesting/informative and entertaining.
It’s all about the Smiles Per Gallon with this truck! I love my Raptor R as it’s ridiculous in all the right ways!
Under the hood it actually looks good and simple. Most new ford's engine compartments look like rat nests from the factory

Hey Jay, just wanted to say I love the show. CNBC are idiots! Only show I watched on that network. Hoping you bring the complete show back here on RUclips. Miss all the different segments you had, especially the segments with Don Osborne! I hope you are recovering from all the miss fortune that you have indored recently! Not to many in Hollywood I give a hoot about, but you are one of the good ones!
button controls are much safer to use while driving as when you get used to them you can operate them without looking at them and keep your eyes on the road./highway. touch screens are not consistently functional eventually distracting and to be safe while driving just forget trying to get it to do a function and keep eyes on the road. surprising govt. regulatory agencies let touch screens get in to vehicles for drivers to use and be distracted which then might not end well.

Who buys one of these and uses it to its capabilities?
This thing costs as much as my first house. Let's get back down to reality and the real love of driving. I'd love to see Ford make a Heritage Performance (or Retroformance) line in both Bronco and F-150 both fun and attainable for the masses. I don't plan on doing 40mph whoop passes in my brand new truck or even my old one for that matter. Standard style or Bilsteins are fine...put $1500 back in my pocket. I don't have a problem with a manual-shift 4wd lever either. Delete the actuator, dash light, drive modes that do very little, and knob/button...shave another $500 off sticker price.
Now for the heavy hitter...put a nice 6sp manual and a F-150 spec coyote in for those who love driving. I know most people don't appreciate them, but all of the drive mode stuff is a sad placebo for the driver engagement of three pedals. Delete at least one transmission control module, a whole lot of cost in a complex and most likely finicky auto...lop a good 5 grand off of the sticker price and have a happier/less cell phone engaged driver.
Damn so cool. Id like to get one!
Can this guy say “right” any freakin more!? Holy crap!

Thanks Jay and crew!✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
Love the look of that Raptor. And a very informative video, much more so than so many videos I see out there. This is I think the best I've ever seen actually. Thumbs up. I have 2 questions at the end, but first some comments: The raptor "R" is really more than I need, but I want one, darn it. 🙂 May end up getting the regular, latest gen Raptor, instead of the more powerful "R", but we'll see. It's funny, but the primary reason I'm only considering a Ford F150 and not some other brand, is that optional fold out flat work surface between the front row seats; I would use that so much, taking my laptop with me and along with a mobile hotspot making my home office mobile; sometimes it's the little things, and no one else offers that. There are other reasons I like the Ford F150 too, of course. I should probably just customize/raptorize an F150 Platinum at my age, those massaging, more luxury seats would be nice, but that Raptor, wow!
Two things I do wonder about: How does the Raptor do in very cold, snowy, wintery weather and at high altitudes in ski country? And though those Raptor seats are really nice, is there any way I could get the loaded, blacked out, all leather, max luxury, massaging, reclining seats of the Platinum in the Raptor? If I could, then my only remaining decisions would be "R" or not "R" version, and the 35 or 37 tires. I generally would get all black, and dull out those bright stickers, but that grey is nice, so that decision too, but I'd be happy with either of those colors.
your best bet is a 5.0 platinum and ship it to pax power for a raptor conversion
I could not help watching the Camera Truck trying to keep up 🤣🤣👍👍 Great Truck Jay
