A good friend growing up, his family dog was a standard poodle. Looking back now I’m amazed. He was a great family dog. But my friends dad also trained him to duck hunt and pheasant hunt. Retrieve birds without mutilating them, shake out brush for birds. All that. While also being an awesome family dog good with kids and protecting the house.

Great video! Standard poodles are often overlooked but as you mentioned they are fantastic all around athletic dogs!! I have a 10 month old standard and I have never met another dog like him, extremely intelligent and trainable!!

Best dog I've ever had. Standard Poodle is incomparable.

Thank you for sharing the information and debunking the stigma that poodles are a girls dog. I am a Brotha who owns a standard poodle. And I don’t regret it hands down the Best Breed ever in my opinion.

Thank you! As a doberman person Standards are up there! Someone in my list has a schutzhund titled poodle! I'd much rather see poodles with known grooming techniques/schedules than doodle messes where naive people don't know what they're getting into with the hair ! With that there are COOL things that aren't froo froo you can do with that coat!
    Love the poodle! Great vid.

I got one, pick him up on the 22nd. Nobody knows in the house yet. I might be homeless on the 23rd.

Who are the breeders you recommend

Good question. As a doberman person for decades just knowing hte ins and outs of health issues is a college education, with poodles I'd have to be in kindergarten. Couple things I noted is torsion is a huge issue, "Wycliffe factor"(an overused stud dog all over the world), you gotta have the hair pulled out of the ears, & autoimmune issues which means you'd better be doing vaccination titers instead of mindlessly boostering (which i do anyway) so you're not wrecking your dogs immune system. So you'll have to interview attitudes of a veterinarian about sending off titers vs being a shot monkey. Shot monkeys are a DEAL BREAKER in doberman world.Having dealt with a doberman with vaccinosis will never do that again, titers are IT!!! THEN we get a booster if antibodies low.

Poodles originate from Germany, not France and they were used as war dogs, bro.

They were war dogs because they are amazing watchdogs. They are a very intelligent breed and require a lot of mental and physical stimulation, but they are a sensitive breed.
