I rescued a standard poodle about two years ago from a poodle rescue in Missouri. She is the BEST dog I’ve ever cared for. Yes, I get people running up to my poodle all the time, they always say I’ve never seen a poodle in real life, she is so beautiful. They are right she is so beautiful and so grateful she came into our family ❤

Thank you! As a doberman person Standards are up there! Someone in my list has a schutzhund titled poodle! I'd much rather see poodles with known grooming techniques/schedules than doodle messes where naive people don't know what they're getting into with the hair ! With that there are COOL things that aren't froo froo you can do with that coat! Love the poodle! Great vid.

I absolutely agree with everything he said! At 10 months I had to physically hold my male down with all 260 pounds of my weight! It only happened once and now he is excellent ! He is very aggressive towards animals & strangers and have to be put away when guests are around the kids. His anxiety kicks in. 😂

Great video! Standard poodles are often overlooked but as you mentioned they are fantastic all around athletic dogs!! I have a 10 month old standard and I have never met another dog like him, extremely intelligent and trainable!!

I have a 5mo old Belgian Malinois, and he is like this, but he has come a long way and getting better each time I take him out for walks or car rides. He had so much anxiety when I rescued him at about 3 months old, but we finally walked a full block for the first time, and he now jumps into the car on his own without me having to put him in. He's so happy and energetic and loving at home, he hasn't shown any aggression towards anyone children or adults, or animals. He catches on to training so fast that I have to add more levels to it to keep him engaged. I had help from a couple of trainers as well. He is such an awesome dog, but I honestly had never heard of this breed until the shelter told me (thought he was a GS). My mouth dropped after researching the breed also lol. Yeah, this is going to be exciting! I've found a trainer who specializes in this breed that he will be boarding at for about 6 weeks to bring out his greatest potential if u know what I mean.

If you can bench 200, sprint fast, and have dominance over your dog, your fine with a rope harness. Not everybody can do it. Furthermore, not everybody needs a prong collar. Yet, it can be helpful for specific tasks to train them to use it. Im about to train my 1 year-old 80 pound, unneuterd male with a prong collar, but he doesn't need it. He cried tooo much as a baby with it so I found a better way. I can walk him in high stress, public, stores with a rope harness, even traffic with just a rope harness.

I'm missing my boy he was a doberman ..such a lovely boi he protected me so well .I was only fifteen ,walking through unlit underground to go shop .some man stopped me just as I was reaching the end .He asked me for the time .my boi was so quiet .The man probably didn't see him ,but he heard my boi .one warning from him ,just one growl .That bloke took off ! I was protected again age 16 by a German shepherd .Beautiful dogs ❤

This is kinda sad. I had to get rid of a GSD because it had that anxiety where she would get scared and jump up my leg every time we would walk. She was scared of most things. Also a fear biter, she was afraid of children and if they got too close she’d freak out or try to bite them. Most of these dogs have such bad nerves, skittishness, and so much fear that they should be put down. I know people disagree with me, but my expectations of my dog is high. For some dogs are just companions, and for some of us, our dogs are like weapons and employees. If I hire an employee from a reputable source and the employee is too scared to do his job, I’m not spending the money and time to build up his confidence. I’m also not going to pay to re-educate him on his instincts to do his job. I’m going to fire him and replace him with a more suitable employee. Same thing applies with a weapon. I need my gun to shoot when I decide to use it. I can’t have a gun that’s scared or doesn’t work. Think about all the time and money lost feeding, socializing, bonding, vet bills, grooming, exercise, things that are destroyed around the house, husbandry skills cleaning up after them, and all the training and research. These dogs turn out to be a waste of finite resources. They should be put down.

I’m a disabled veteran, I was given a female Boerboel. She has become one of the best dogs I’ve ever had. She is so smart and is always looking out for trouble. I live in the country and she alerts me when something or someone is near, that doesn’t belong. She is a true guardian angel who I trust with my life.

Solid conversation about dog ownership, I think people become better owners when they start thinking about the dog instead of projecting feelings onto them.
