my god, just listening to this i am reminded who much i benefit from the fact that my mother raised me well,
as i got only water while i was a child, meaning i never really miss alcohol, soda, coffe and ive never smoked.
Sometimes i felt like i was missing out when i was small, but now im just grateful how many problems ive never had to deal with...

I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned that you were doing all of this to remain sober. For me, failure is defined as losing control of myself. No matter what life throws at me, I know that my best shot is dealing with it head on and keeping a sound and focused mind.
It is so so hard, but in the end, is good for you. It’s like learning to play a stringed instrument or to rock climb. It hurts and is frustrating at first, but eventually you build those callouses. You take the pain in the present to prevent pain in the future. This is a perfect analogy for not using substances or other unhealthy coping habits for present pain. You dull the pain now, you’ll prevent reaching your full potential and healing in the future

Sobriety is so important I’m learning. I smoke sooooo much THC and it messes with my head in a really negative way because I have Schizoaffective. I admire your ability to quit so much in the goal of being sober entirely. Can’t wait to see what else you post, and your progress!

Hope you find a way to quit. I suffer with the bad mental health too and the THC makes me super paranoid. Best advice I can give is to go on long walks and stay hydrated

coming to terms with losing friends that engage in bad behaviours that you wish to break free of is so difficult. sometimes when you do mange to get rid of that social circle you realise quitting said behaviour is not so difficult, it was only the group keeping you from breaking free. listening to you speak on this gave me newfound strength that i'm on tge right track. thank you

Watching your video was like rereading 'Atomic Habits!'
In the book, a man with a nail-biting habit gets a manicure, and someone compliments his beautiful nails.
It becomes a source of pride for him, and he never returns to biting his nails.

I have unhealthy and disordered eating too but in the opposite direction. I am 40kg overweight and have had spinal surgery in the last year and to help my healing I’ve been told I really need to look at losing weight because my spine is struggling to support my weight. Also I’m tired of being big. I don’t want to lose the remainder of my youth to being unhappy in my skin. I’ve tried many times to try and lose weight and eat healthier but never follow through and just give up after a week or two. It’s been 3 weeks so far so I can’t say I’m going to stick with it this time but I feel like it’s different this time. I’ve also quit social media. The only social media I use is messenger now. I’ve been reading more, relaxing more, resting my mind more and getting out into the sun and going for more walks which have been amazing. I have enjoyed watching your videos and they’ve helped to keep me motivated too. Good luck on your journey also. ❤

Thank you for sharing such personal things to help the people who see you on RUclips. My situation is a bit similar only by changing the addictions, I am addicted to sugar and I have been without social networks for 1 year, only RUclips... the problem is that even RUclips is addictive, I don't know how to approach it so as not to watch shorts and videos during 5 hours straight. With the issue of sugar, I am little by little eliminating it, and I only want to consume it on special occasions; birthdays, parties etc. Regarding what you have said about alcohol and friendships; People who love you take time to make plans and spend time with you without having to drink alcohol, those who don't do it better far away. A hug and greetings from Spain!

Idk how finished here being a spanish speaker but this content helps, in my case is really difficult to try quit social media (tiktok, ig, facebook) and the fact that we can't take seriously a book or study its sad, but this content helps to be aware of it and try to change.

Hey I just wanted to take the time to let you know this helped me and I watched it through twice to internalize your tips. I struggle with a lot of the same things you did of drinking too much with the wrong people (at least in my case) and smoking way too much in a day. I've been wanting to adapt healthier habits and focus on my health for a couple of years now but sometimes it feels impossible to focus on myself with my busy work schedule. But this video helped me know there is hope for slower and better living. If there's one thing I hope I can achieve in like the next 5 years it's health 😂

This was like listening to my own inner thoughts 😅❤ It’s soo fun to be where you’re at! That feeling of getting physical and metal rewards from quitting those things and having the capacity to be on the look out for more to do and get better at!❤
I tried during Easter to not eat anything with sugar, to avoid me buying everything on sale afterwards. I did great, but I eventually ended up eating more sugar. What I did find was that my Garmin watch gave me really good scores in Easter, but I thought it was from a blood pressure medication I stopped bc I was so damn dizzy all the time (it was ok to try to, it’s to prevent migraines). It didn’t show up at my Garmin and then I tried sugar again and the effect was immediate! ❤ My energy levels were so high and I actually thought I had CFS, I was just so god damn tired… I had been under fueling with protein for the last year because I quit dairy last summer and didn’t keep up with the amount I lost from Greek yoghurt and cottage cheese etc.
My Garmin also told me that alcohol was a very bad idea, my stress levels during night was just shocking! I have had months on and off for many years where I drank to much (alcoholism runs in my family), but now I’m soo sick after just one beer so that figured it self out.
Point is - all the time I’ve figured out what my body needs and doesn’t, I think me being 37 all of a sudden (how did that happen?) also plays a role. But it’s so rewarding to be an adult finally and doing good things, and when we experience that it does have an impact, it’s so rewarding! It’s also a lonely thing, people call me boring etc for not indulging in sugar, alcohol and stuff, but for me it’s the only way to live now. Also currently struggling with quitting social media, it goes up and down, but I know I will manage it like I want to. I found out I’m an INFJ, and these indulging things take control when I’m stressed, so I’m trying to be mindful of that.
You are so pleasant to listen to, new subscriber and going straight to watch other videos. You are very smart for your young age!

this is kind of difficult for me to admit since im only 14, but the drinking alone part is kind of resonating. I don't know if its almost become a crutch because i started after quitting sh (80 days clean now) but am i becoming reliant on it?? I'm curious about your experience

thanks for the video and your words !! hope u have a great week

I don't have a lot of tips as it's one of my weird quirks :/ once I'm 100% ready to stop doing something I can just drop it. The biggest struggle for me is convincing myself to do so.
I will say though, it may help to have constant stimulation for the hand to mouth movement like eating dumb dumb sucker's and keeping a floss pic in your mouth. I did this for 3 or 4 days right after stopping and it helped keep me distracted enough for those few days.
